Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about upgrading tie rods
Are they swappable? Or does anyone know of a kit I can order that has all of them?
Upgrade your tie rod to the ZJ rod. It’s stronger and uses the same small-end as the drag link.
Comments on perceived strength of new parts
feels significantly beefier than the old parts I ripped off.
Discussion on normal movement for tie rods and drag links
Is this normal movement for my tie rod and drag link? [deleted]
Yes all tie rods and drag links should move like that.
Yes but could use some grease.
Yep, looks normal.
Discussion about similar steering components
Replacing the OEM XJ tie rod with the OEM ZJ tie rod is a no-brainer for anyone.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about beefier ZJ setup
it's just way more beef (solid steel instead of hollow tube) so less likely to bend while off-road.
I figured there's no downside.
Discussion on lift kits and shock options
I'm planning on making this order from Rock Auto next week.
I like this kit better then the other brands because unlike the other spacers kits Fat Bob's uses actual lift coil springs.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Debate over Moog vs. Mevotech parts
If it were my money, I would get the Mevotech.
I have used Moog and Mevotech parts on my truck. I have been very impressed with Mevotech. The last
I’d get the mevotech just because it’s greasable.
Consideration of other brands for durability
Moog is garbage now.
I heard people have been using the 5th gen drag link to replace welded one.
Budget constraints affecting part choices
Unfortunately the premium brands are outside my budget when I also need a tie rod assembly.
Debate on necessity of replacing pitman arm
Pitman arm?! I mean they can go bad but rarely.
Discussion about affordability of Moog tie rod ends
Those tie rod ends are like $25 each from Moog. And how bad is the pitman arm that it needs to be replaced?
Concerns about compatibility with aftermarket parts
I made the mistake of not paying attention to my aftermarket parts and how they don't connect to each other as readily as OEM.
You might be able to get it to work with one of the tie rod ends with a hole for another, but I wouldn't count on it.
Advice on tools for installation
they have a good selection and an easy to understand description.
Make sure to grab a pickle fork and a BFH.
Debate on which parts provide better value for upgrades
Which would I get with the boost, 4600 or 5100?
Uncertainty about compatibility with older models
Will this work on an 89?
I would imagine so considering most kits you can buy cover 84-01.
Discussion about the necessity of upgrades for daily drivers
Would I need this if I have a 2” lift and do not plan on offroading?
Uncertainty about pre-greasing of tie rods
Can't really find a straight awnser anywhere. Some say it's good some say it's dry.
It has a little grease but you need to add more.
Do I rub it on the joint by hand?
Discussion about compatibility and upgrade options
I'm tired of destroying ball joints and getting death wobble.
1ton steering parts oughtta last a bit longer.
should stop all death wobble.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Debate about the effectiveness of upgrades
Guess what. IT DID WORK. This thing drives like a dream now, even at 70mph.
I ordered the drag link from LMC but the ball joint that attaches to the spindle on the passenger side seems to be upside down.
DennisCarpenter or parts store (Napa, autozone doesn’t carry this type of stuff) are more likely to get it right the first time.
However the photo appears like the one from LMC so I am not sure why the original is different?
Concerns about stock parts and performance
If it is a 'get what you pay for' situation, I'm completely willing to pay more, but are the more expensive ones actually better?
Concerns about quality of unknown suppliers
Those kits that give you an easy button to buy a set of parts from suppliers you've never heard of aren't a great way to get quality.
Debate over the necessity of high-quality parts for lifted vehicles
If your lifted high you can't skimp.
Comments on past upgrades and regrets
The new durango box is pretty badass though :)
