Snoop's Take

The NUK Comfy Orthodontic Pacifiers are designed for babies between 18 and 36 months, offering a soft, orthodontic solution that mimics natural breastfeeding. They aim to support proper sucking motion and oral development with a heart-shaped shield for easy breathing. Community feedback is as divided as it is passionate. Many parents rave, 'These are the only ones my guy will take,' underlining the pacifier’s undeniable appeal in soothing fussy infants, while others lament that aggressive chewing quickly turns durability into a concern. The chatter swings between clear approval for comfort and design, and biting-related complaints that leave you wondering if your toddler might soon demolish the set. In summary, while the pacifier’s innovative design and baby-approved performance make it a worthy contender in its category, prospective buyers should brace for the inevitable wear and tear that comes with relentless chewing. It is recommended for those who value comfort and design but are prepared for the possibility of frequent replacements.

You just need to get rid of them at that point. That’s what my toddler did too
We had the same issue as our son is very into chewing.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Tommee Tippee pacifiers praised for being ultra light
The tommy tippee ones were much lighter and she was able to keep them in and have a better sleep.
We like the Tommee tippee ultra light pacifiers.
The Tommy tippe ultra light and the Phillips soothies have been a big hit here.
Glow in the dark pacifiers appreciated
I got ones that glow in the dark so I can find them in the dark lol.
Also love the glow in the dark ones!!!
Importance of pacifier sizing for fit and durability
she was trying to chew on it and would attempt to shove it all in her mouth lol
It’s fine for a younger baby to use pacifiers rated for older babies, like you’re doing, but not vice versa.
I have seen babies using the wrong size literally pull the entire pacifier into their mouth and then it is scary!!
my son managed to bend it to put the whole thing in his mouth.... so took all those away and gave him firmer ones.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Challenges with pacifier weaning timing
I started putting her to sleep with a pacifier in her mouth and one in each hand, and bam no more grabby hand issues.
We went about a week without the pacifier and her sleep just got worse and worse. So we gave it back.
I’ve always heard either kick it by 3 months OR you’re stuck with it until at least 1 year.
Personally I think it’s a bit cruel to take it away during teething but that’s only because my own baby relies heavily on his pacifier for comfort whenever he’s teething, it seems to be the only thing that helps him.
Debate on optimal pacifier weaning timing
But last night and the night before was hell. Pure hell.
4 month seems early in my opinion haha, not to be contrary
Pediatric dentist said there is no concern before age 3.
Our dentist just said to worry about eliminating paci and thumb sucking at three years old, not now (1yr old).
Difficulty in pacifier acceptance among breastfed babies
she will reject it and prefer to use my wife as a human pacifier for soothing which isn't a habit we want to encourage.
Bottles, pacifiers... makes no difference, they've got nothing on me, the OG pacifier.
I’ll try anything, even the ones that “aren’t good for breastfeeding”.
My kid would never take any pacifier🤷🏻‍♀️
Varied pacifier acceptance and alternative soothing behaviors
If your baby takes a pacifier, I hate you Not really.
but I just think about the fact that we don’t have to wean from it!
We can have the pacifier fairy come or something to take them away. You can’t take away their fingers.
Honestly, as a person who has permanently fucked up teeth and jaw from having one for too long, I’m actually happy my daughter only kind of likes them.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Dental and oral concerns with pacifier use
My daughter didn’t use a pacifier (her choice, not mine), and her teeth are CRAZY.
It’s so difficult to break the habit, and the open bites that result from thumb sucking are SEVERE.
Same idea as a pacifier - supposedly they suck it and it causes their teeth to be crooked.
>my mom was told not to introduce one with my brother because it can mess with the way their teeth grow in?
Chewing-induced pacifier damage in older kids
2 is young enough to just cold turkey a pacifier IMO.
He chewed holes in them and then didn't like them anymore when they had holes so when he chewed through the last one, that was it.
It’s hard- if it’s something that soothes him, I get not wanting to take it away, especially cold turkey.
A paci is for the bed.
Preference for Bibs pacifiers
The Bibs brand ended up working out for us (though we had tried it from day 1, something just clicked at 4 months).
Pricy but the ONLY pacifier our breastfed guy would take.
Bibs won out for us as well.
Madela at first but switched to bibs, it was much better!
Preference for MAM pacifiers
My baby likes MAM pacifiers best, more of a natural shape than the round ones.
My babe is 7 weeks and when she *does* take a paci, it’s always a MAM one!
My baby hates Avent and all other brands except mam ones
All of mine took MAM(except the thumb sucker.)
NUK used as a generic term for pacifiers
my mom says nuk
Not op but my mom says nuk bc of the brand when I was a baby
Nuk has pacifiers.
I’m saying some people call all pacifiers NUKs, like we often call all tissues ‘kleenex’
