Snoop's Take

Skidmore's Leather Cream is an all-natural, non-toxic leather care product designed to clean, condition, and restore various leather items including couches, car seats, and boots. With its unique water-repellent formula, it effectively repairs damage from abrasions, scratches, and fading, ensuring your leather maintains its original glow and supple feel. Consumer feedback highlights the effectiveness of Skidmore's Leather Cream as an excellent conditioner for leather, with users noting that "it really does a good job! And all natural as well!" Many appreciate that a little goes a long way, mentioning it makes leather "supple and hydrated" while also being safe for home use. However, some concerns were raised regarding its price compared to alternatives, as well as issues like potential darkening of leather and dirt accumulation in creases. Overall, despite some negative feedback regarding its cost and application effects, the product is highly recommended within its category for its natural ingredients and strong conditioning capabilities, making it a reliable choice for leather care enthusiasts.

High price compared to alternatives
Rejuvenation.com has got canisters of this on sale for $3, while they're around $15-20 normally.
Can make leather feel more delicate
I get worried about wrinkles because I have seen wrinkles become tears and then tears in turn becoming holes.
Can darken leather after application
it darkens the leather (potentially unfavorably) and is marginally unnecessary unless the boots are going to be going through weather hell.
I certainly did find that mink oil did darken the leather - can confirm from my own experience on tan cowboy boots.
Can cause dirt accumulation
the finish can be unattractive and it *might* cause dirt and dust to accumulate in creases and subsequently lead to drying and cracking.
He also cautions against "heavy" conditioners because they tend to trap dirt in creases and can contribute to eventual cracking.
