Snoop's Take

The Elite Gourmet MST-350B Electric Slow Cooker is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for cooking a variety of dishes, from tender roasts to flavorful stews. With its adjustable temperature settings and easy-to-clean features, it aims to simplify meal preparation for busy individuals and families. Consumer feedback reveals mixed sentiments about this slow cooker. Many users appreciate the safety features such as the power light indicator, with one noting, "I would go with the Elite Gourmet because of the power light on the front." However, there are concerns regarding the cooker running too hot on low settings and cosmetic defects, as some reported, "the edge of the cooker looks bad." Overall, while some appreciate its usability, others express frustrations about its performance. Considering the user reviews, the Elite Gourmet MST-350B Electric Slow Cooker may be suitable for those who can manage the heat settings and are looking for an affordable option, but it might not be the best choice for those needing precise temperature control or a flawless finish.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Power light indicator for safety
I would go with the Elite Gourmet because of the power light on the front.
Easy to clean with silicone bowls
Protip- Cook in a silicone bowl to reduce mess and cleanup
Does this actually work?

Modern slow cookers run too hot on low setting.
all of them run too hot nowadays. Used to go with crock pot.
there was no “low” setting. They both cooked everything so fast on low.
My crock pot literally boils on low.
they both run so hot I have to use “warm” as “low”, “low” as “high”, and “high” if I feel like boiling water as fast as I can on the stove!
Product may have cosmetic defects
The edge of the cooker looks bad. I'm not sure if it will make any difference in the long run, but it doesn't seem to wash off.
I would be annoyed but far too lazy to send it back.
Amazon says all I can do is send it back. I'll probably do it.
For it being brand new, I would send it back.
Newer slow cookers run too hot
newer slow cookers cook much much hotter.
A soup or chili that you’ve already brought to temp or a beef stew where you’ve already seared the cubes of meat and sautéed veg for flavor would be fine.
I wouldn’t bother, for the price of a timer you can score an old crockpot at a thrift store.
Keep warm setting may not be hot enough for certain foods
the keep warm setting may not be hot enough to cook beans.
Slow cookers generally do not auto turn off.
So my questions are, in relation to both manual/dial and digital, I'm away from home at work for about 9-11 hours a day, from 7.30- 5pm+, if I went to cook a meal, and put it on for 7am before I left, and the recipe states to slow cook for 8 hours, so that'd mean the 8 hours would be up by 3pm, but I wouldn't be home until after 5pm, at 3pm, does it automatically go into "warm" mode once the 8 hours on low ends, or switches off completely when the countdown is finished and the meal would start to go cold?
On manual slow cookers they do not automatically shut off. However, you can extend your time by prepping your food the night before, putting the whole crock in the refrigerator, and then starting it in the morning.
Product may be defective and not heat properly
parts of the chicken was still raw and the appliance was barely even hot, only a bit warm/ lukewarm.
It’s defective. Take it back under warranty and get a new one
If it's not hot, then the element(s) is faulty.

Many users are discussing their onion cooking methods with slow cookers.
Caramelized onions - slow cooker is the best way!
I cook them way down and cook the moisture off - I don't have a lot of freezer room and this maximizes the flavor to size ratio.
Looks good! Did you stir somewhere in between? Or did you just let it sit? How long did it cook?
I use 6 pounds of onion, 1 stick of butter. And about 3 tablespoons of Lea and Perrins. Add mushrooms at about hour 5.
Users share tips for cooking with manual slow cookers.
My slow cooker is a manual dial one, with off, warm, low, and high settings. It will stay on whatever setting you set the dial to until you come and change it or the heat-death of the universe, whichever is sooner.
Mine just stays on low until I get home. Just make sure and have enough liquid in your recipe so it does not get dry.
Discussion on alternative cooking methods
The curved top of the bowl does leave a small gap when the lid is placed over it, but it still cooks fine.

Difficulty finding a modern slow cooker that cooks properly.
Turns out, over the past, and either option has the according to this you are correct and it may be difficult to find a modern slow cooker that isn't too hot.
Just got my own place, need a slow cooker recommendation. As title explains, I need help from the hive mind.
If you only need a slow cooker, get Crockpot or Hamilton Beach, wherever it's on sale, and you'll be golden.
I swear by mine and use it almost continuously. I HIGHLY recommend a Hamilton Beach. 6-qt ones start around $40-50; programmables start around $70.
Users discuss optimal sizes for slow cookers
Proctor Silex 4 qt. oval. It is the right size to cook whole chickens, and turkey breasts, pot roasts and vegetables, with enough to serve 4 people and have leftovers.
Sounds like a great deal. I personally recommend always getting the biggest size you can.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Difficulty finding a reliable slow cooker brand
Most durable ("Buy It For Life") slow cooker brand/manufacturer? Pretty disappointed at my just 3 year old Hamilton Beach slow cooker stopped working (doesn't heat anymore.
I have a Crock Pot from the early ‘90s. It has a single knob with positions for “off” “high”, “low” and “warm”. They’re bulletproof as long as you don’t break the ceramic insert.
probably a digital one? the old analog ones with just "low, high, warm" seem to last forever.
Difficulty finding a reliable slow cooker brand.

Good advice lol, also for newer buyers, check this thread
Can't go wrong with the simple $20 low-high-warm crockpot brand at Walmart.
The housing is extremely thin. In addition to it being easily dented, there is very little insulation.
Concerns about heat insulation and safety of newer models.
The other concern I have is heat insulation. Some of the reviews and customer images are showing the outside gets so hot, the handles melted off lol.
The outside gets warm/hot, but not to the point of not being able to touch it, and definitely not hot enough for melting to occur.
I haven’t had any of the issues you mention. I use it weekly.
You're far better off having one that keeps warm. It isn't food safe keeping meat in the danger zone for hours.
Concerns about food safety with slow cooking
the 'keep warm' setting is generally in the 140-160 range. All that time spent below 140 is creating a bacteria breeding ground.
if you rocket a brisket up to 140 quickly you’re going to have a really bad time.
Difficulty finding reliable slow cooker brands
Our slow cooker has a stone inner bowl and it boils our food even on low setting and we want:
