Solid, waterproof. I expected to find the tap-to-bright a problem, but haven't.

Positive Feedback

So simply take out the batteries after your trip - little inconvenience but I like the power and the mods over petzl.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Durable construction withstands tough conditions
Solid, waterproof. I expected to find the tap-to-bright a problem, but haven't.
For the love of God, who makes a reliable headlamp? Klein, Milwaukee, you name it - I can’t keep a rechargeable headlamp going for more than a week or two before they crap out.
My crappy energizer that my kids use has outlasted by years my Skilhunt (clip broke in less than 6mo of use).
Skilhunt H04RC. The only thing it won't have is the USB C. The best headband, nice and neutral 519a emitter, great driver, good headlamp beam.
Solid structure and materials
Zero issues. Solid structure and materials.
Affordable headlamps available
What will you be using them for? That really will drive the answer to your question.
Worth Upgrading from Energizer to Black Diamond? I've been using a cheap [Energizer HD+ ](https://a.co/d/bZ6DAJD)for the last few years, and it's done alright for me, but REI has some higher quality headlamps like the [Black Diamond Spot](https://www.rei.com/product/202774/black-diamond-spot-400-headlamp) at really good sales right now and I'm considering upgrading.
What is a best headlamp?
The one you have with fresh batteries when it gets dark.
Defaults to red light first
Energizer headlamps are pretty cool Just a heads up. This energizer headlamp defaults to red first no matter what.
They had a more basic one that was 2 for $6 as well usually comes with Energizer batteries as well.
The only thing I *don't* like about mine is that it is controlled by a *button*. I would prefer a *switch*.
I bought a Petzel as a backup to my energizer (and because the petzl has a red light).
Long battery life for consistent use
Most people here aim for a more neutral 4000-5000K temperature typically, to prevent eye strain.
Affordable price for multiple units
Energizer 3 packs from Walmart for $20 because bands stretch out or they get lost so it’s nice to have a spare in the truck
I was looking for a cheap light with a rechargeable battery. I already had a TIKKA2. and what do you know they sell exactly what I was looking for a Lithium battery that recharges via USB.
Effective for night fishing
They worked well enough for me, I particularly liked the straight to red leds so it wouldn't blow my nv out.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Batteries drain even when not in use
So simply take out the batteries after your trip - little inconvenience but I like the power and the mods over petzl.
it is more sealed and durable feeling than my petzel, that I know won't last much longer
Complicated features can be frustrating
Black Diamond headlamps are crap! I had to throw away several and finally changed brands.... They are not waterproof, they lose battery connectivity, they are too complicated, their red light sux, they are large and heavy.
Preference for better options than Energizer
There are much better options.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about lumen differences and features
Other than the usual lights function the 550 lumens has an added green light, that’s about all!
Most of the lights recommended here are of such a higher quality you simply won’t believe it until you go back and actually compare to the energizer class of lighting.
Discussion about headlamp quality
Energizer head lamps Has anyone here ever tried those energizer head lamps they sell at Walmart, Lowes, HD, etc? What’s the quality of them?

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Preference for headlamps over flashlights
recommendation for a headlamp? So I really prefer headlamps over a flashlight.
Rechargeable headlamp What are some of the best rechargeable headlamps? I’ve been looking at black diamond and Petzl but they are pretty expensive.
It'd be awesome to have all the pros and none of the cons, but if I had the energizer with the sofrin's UI, it'd be close enough.
Comparison of different brands and models
Depends how long you need the headlamp to run for, if i know the days are short, I would much rather bring my Sofirn H25LR 18650 headlamp.
Do you legitimately think it’s worth the upgrade? I’ve been having really good luck with those super cheap 2/$20 rechargeable headlamps over the last few years.
to each their own. I have had this headlamp a couple of years and don't have any of the issues you mention.
I have a rechargeable Milwaukee head lamp. Got it 4 years ago and it still works fine.
Discussion of various brands and models of headlamps
some people find the controls clunky but I honestly don't get why.
Look at the fenix brands they make good head lamps.
I felt like Black Diamond fit better and was better for tough workouts but Petzl had better illumination.
Preference for cheaper, disposable headlamps
Yes get a quality headlamp but others swear it's better to get cheap almost disposable ones as you could by a 10-20 for the price of one BD.
Discussion on various headlamp brands and models
I couldn’t be happier about it.
Battery life is good and it’s right at $100.
Preference for simple on/off headlamps over multi-mode options
I want a dead-simple headlamp, preferably with just an on/off switch.
I just need a light with ~200 lumens for close-up work lasting no more than an hour at a time.
Discussion about headlamp preferences
I just want to know what you all use for a good head lamp that can be on for the whole day.
Runs on an 18650 usb rechargeable battery. Comes with a headlamp strap, and lasts for weeks.
Recommendations for headlamps other than Energizer
trust me and everyone else you asked multiple times, you really don't want a headlamp like that.
it would likely be an okay light, its just as feature dense or as high in value for money as some of the other recommended lights.
This is actually probably not a bad headlamp and probably the closest thing Energizer offers to anything most people own around here.
I believe they'd both be better then the Energizer.
Mention of price comparisons
It’s costs 22$ and fits my budget.
