Snoop's Take

The Hover-1 H1 Electric Self Balancing Hoverboard is a fun and innovative personal transportation device designed to provide an enjoyable riding experience with its dual 200W motors. With a maximum speed of 9 mph and a range of up to 9 miles, this hoverboard is perfect for casual riders looking for a reliable and entertaining mode of transport. Consumer feedback highlights a mix of positive and negative experiences. Many users praise the Hover-1 H1 for its enjoyable ride, with one stating, "I have the Hover-1, it is a fun ride and surprisingly I've managed to get between 18-20 on it." However, concerns about low quality and durability, alongside customer support issues, are prevalent, with others expressing disappointment over performance, stating, "Everything else is thrift-store filler - low quality, low performance and low satisfaction." Given the mixed feedback, the Hover-1 H1 is recommended for those seeking a fun hoverboard experience at a reasonable price, but potential buyers should weigh the concerns regarding durability and customer service before making a purchase.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Good value for price
For the price it is a fantastic little scooter.
Yea, it's pretty good, I got it second hand for about 200 bucks.
Fun and enjoyable ride experience
I have the Hover-1, It is a fun ride and surprisingly I've managed to get between 18-20 on it.
Very, very fun that is
Not wearing a helmet and going fast in traffic on a bike, scooter, motorcycle, etc. is a great way to end up brain-dead in an ER.
Self-balancing, fully-enclosed electric motorcycle.
Good value for the price
So it's an m365 for $199?
Self balancing electric unicycle.
Please note these rules:
Easy to ride compared to unicycles
These are far easier to ride than a unicycle, I've had experiences on both
Especially since this one is described as an electric, self-balancing one. Ofc it would be easier than a unicycle.
A perfectly working one is just about the same as a bike. They're incredibly difficult to ride at first but suddenly it just clicks in your head and they become very easy to control making them just as safe as a bicycle.
Good value for dual motor price
Does anyone have this scooter and what kind of range are you getting (rider weight would be nice or at least a ballpark of how close you are to the rider weight limit)?
The weight is a bit of a downer but that range is quite nice.
Built-in rechargeable battery is a plus
it says it has a built in rechargable battery on their wow what a product they thought of everything
Fun ride experience with good performance
I would reccomend a helmet, and maybe sholder pads and... well... full armor.
Easy to use self-balancing system
I would like to see the dismount
Lasts longer than average low-end scooters
God damn, this scooter lasted you 4 years? That is impressive, many people only get 2 years or so of actual use from low end electric scooters.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Low quality and performance compared to competition
Everything else is thrift-store filler - low quality, low performance and low satisfaction.
Seriously , I'd estimate it had 4000 miles on it.
the company cut too many corners
Durability issues leading to breakage
Honestly, the buggy just never seemed worth it in the end.
They are a marketing company first, dressing up bad electronics in nice plastic.
Poor customer support and warranty issues
So crappy company that doesn't stand by their product.
So crappy company that doesn't stand by their product.
So crappy company that doesn't stand by their product.
High price compared to perceived value
Amazon keeps showing me the nightowl for $755 and something about that price seemed so fishy to me.
It looks like Best Buy is selling these for $1,500 now. That seems really high for what you get.
Confusing folding mechanism
you can just tell it wasn't made to be folded down and brought back up over and over.
everything needs adjustment ,tune-up and regularly check and following what manual suggests to do or not.
Bad mileage/ride quality for the price
Bad mileage/ride quality for the amount paid.
Short mileage per charge
been only able to squeeze about 4 miles right off charging.
Frequent auto shut-off issues
I got my Hover-1 Pioneer and the auto shut-off is really really annoying.
I've definitely had that happen with my Hover-1 Journey on hills, and I'd expect that would happen with the Pioneer too.
Poor performance on hills and strong winds
It was utter garbage. It reset on after a little riding on even mild hills.
Disappointment with overall quality
The gotrax gxl was just so much better in grunt and top speed
Comparison to better alternatives
I highly recommend you do and just get an M365.
Misleading speed specifications
Mine is in the mail and is going back unless it goes 18 like it said when I ordered
You'll be lucky to get to 15mph.
It actually only goes 14/15mph, has 8.5" tires, no speaker, etc.
Higher risk of injury compared to bicycles
Almost lost my leg on one of these.
Very unsafe. You got zero things standing between you and a supposed car.
Safety concerns with high speed
Unicycles are pretty shitty as a mode of transportation so that's pretty weird.
>Anyone know how safe/unsafe these things are compared to a bike?
Quality of materials may be compromised
You couldn’t give me an 8 inch scooter they suck ride quality is crap small wheels are dangerous
Melting connectors indicate quality issues
You have a dead short somewhere which is why the connectors melted.
Don't go with the cheapest thing you can find.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
General excitement about electric scooters
Broom broom! Enjoy it brother.
Curiosity about app functionality
It would be great if there was a way to flash the firmware on this especially given that it has to be very similar to Xiaomi's.
Curiosity about battery location
Question anyone know where the battery is?
Discussion about high-speed preferences
Ideally looking for something that goes around 60mph. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I do NOT enjoy going anywhere near that fast on my scooter.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about modifying hoverboard attachments
even though this technically isn’t a scooter…
Many reports of the folding bars not locking/folding while in motion or becoming sloppy.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Comparison with other models and brands
It has quite a few things over the Journey Max
I'm only looking a dual motors because I'm commuting over hills in SF, but now I'm wondering if I should put my money towards a more reliable single motor scooter.
Discussion about alternative models and brands
Since you are not recommending this scooter, anything else you would recommend at this price point? 5 miles max per day but need to be able to climb at least 20% grades.
I would say that $755 for this scooter does seem like a good value
Discussion about maintenance and repairs
I strongly suggest immediately sliming the tubes. These wheels are not easy to work on, and the longer you can delay having to fix punctures the happier you'll be.
Discussion around pricing and sales
This is $148 today (cyber Monday). Tempting me, mainly for my kids.
Seems the stock keeps cycling in and out, I've seen them multiple times back down to $150 again.
Curiosity about battery replacement challenges
How was it unsuccessful? What did you do exactly?

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about modifications for better performance
Any wires you can cut to max out scooter?
Error code issues with Hover-1 model
Error code 2 on hover 1 Journey 2.0
General comments on entry-level scooters
I work from home in Austin, TX and only use this scooter to ride with my daughter on hers so a huge investment for actual transportation isn't really needed.
Discussion around riding safety gear
They look really cool, are extremely portable, very fast, and you have a pretty good amount of control if you’re skilled and safe.
Yeah wearing full motocycle "armor" would be the only way I get on one of these at any speed above 12mph.
Legal concerns regarding electric scooter usage
They are also illegal on public roads, as they require insurance to be used on the roads and funnily enough nobody will insure them.
Yeah I believe there's a legal difference between electrically assisted (e.g. ebike) and pure electric scooter, bike, this etc. and there's ongoing calls for electric scooters to be privately insurable, there are scooter rental companies that are appearing round the UK that have their own corporate insurance .
Discussion about potential control module issues
I just spliced in the wires from the control module to the battery and deleted the yellow connector as I didn’t have a new one.
Humorous responses to speed aspirations
Bro wants to go heaven
Late but this made me laugh my ass off😂
