What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Straightforward assembly process
Scooter took a hard hit but no noticeable damage except scrapes.
Good value for the price
I would say that $755 for this scooter does seem like a good value.
Fantastic value for the price
for the price it is a fantastic little scooter.
Yea, it's pretty good, I got it second hand for about 200 bucks.
Fun ride experience
I bought two Hover-1 Pioneer Electric scooters and they both have been flawless at this point minus a 1 bad charger which is getting replaced.
I have the Hover-1, It is a fun ride and surprisingly I've managed to get between 18-20 on it.
Long-lasting performance
God damn, this scooter lasted you 4 years? That is impressive, many people only get 2 years or so of actual use from low end electric scooters.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Poor customer service and warranty support
So crappy company that doesn't stand by their product.
Quality control issues reported
Battery parasitic drain issues, paper thin tires and throttle lag
two of their electric scooters/motorcycles were DOA. They are a marketing company first, dressing up bad electronics in nice plastic.
Weird lack of a folding latch
the weird lack of a folding latch makes it incredibly janky to get up and down the stairs.
the videos I've seen of the scooter folding down, with the weird screw holding it in place that you have to twist out, to the stiffness of it when it folds down, to that strap being the only thing holding it together, you can just tell it wasn't made to be folded down and brought back up over and over.
High price compared to other options
It looks like Best Buy is selling these for $1,500 now. That seems really high for what you get.
Poor ride quality for the price
Bad mileage/ride quality for the amount paid.
Battery issues reported
my blackhawk hover 1 does not fully charge
Lack of customer support and warranty issues
So crappy company that doesn't stand by their product.
Error code issues
Error code 2 on hover 1 Journey 2.0
Limited range on inclines
I bought one as well. So far, been only able to squeeze about 4 miles right off charging.
Auto shut-off issues reported
the auto shut-off is really really annoying
I highly recommend you do and just get an M365.
Motor cut out on hills
It reset on after a little riding on even mild hills, e.g. it would just beep and turn off and I would have to wait a minute before turning it on again.
I've definitely had that happen with my Hover-1 Journey on hills, and I'd expect that would happen with the Pioneer too.
Quality issues leading to returns
The gotrax gxl was just so much better in grunt and top speed
I have 600 miles on my M365 now and love it. It is my little work horse.
Incorrect speed specifications
it’s just a M365 clone for Black Friday 2019
Mine is in the mail and is going back unless it goes 18 like it said when I ordered
You'll be lucky to get to 15mph.
It actually only goes 14/15mph, has 8.5" tires, no speaker, etc.
Connector and wiring issues
The two connections were melted together so I had to cut both wires and splice them in which was unsuccessful.
You have a dead short somewhere which is why the connectors melted.
Potential battery problems
I just spliced in the wires from the control module to the battery and deleted the yellow connector as I didn’t have a new one. After I did this repair it would turn on for about 2 seconds then turn off.
Don't go with the cheapest thing you can find. That's how you start fires. Go with samsung or some big name.
Frequent charging issues reported
Hover-1 Alpha not charging My husband and I just bought this scooter about a week ago.
As someone else said. Why buy something with such a low review rating.
Hover 1 sucks but theres not many scooters for this price.
They're not good scooters to begin with, I've never had one that didn't crap out within 300miles.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Queries about app functionality
It would be great if there was a way to flash the firmware on this especially given that it has to be very similar to Xiaomi's.
Discussion about rider weight and performance
Most of my weight is in my legs down low.
If you use it you may want to use an increased tire pressure.
More weight is just harder for the board to do things, so take it slow and never lean to hard backward or forward cause the components may not keep up.
The skills translate almost directly. You will pick it up fast but it will take time to master.

Discussion about alternative scooters for commuting
I'm now wondering if I should put my money towards a more reliable single motor scooter.
Discussion about alternative scooters
Since you are not recommending this scooter, anything else you would recommend at this price point?
Discussion on DIY repairs
Looks like just a bad connector. I remember that the Ender 3 3D printers had issues with cheap knockoff XT60 connectors melting.

Doubt about the practicality of new hoverboard designs
Another one of those glozzy animated products that don't and won't exist.
Wow, this solves so many problems we don't have.
Advice on maintenance (sliming tubes)
I strongly suggest immediately sliming the tubes. These wheels are not easy to work on, and the longer you can delay having to fix punctures the happier you'll be.
Discussion regarding pricing fluctuations
Seems the stock keeps cycling in and out, I've seen them multiple times back down to $150 again.
Comparisons to other models like M365
This is $148 today (cyber Monday). Tempting me, mainly for my kids.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns over safety and reliability under various conditions
It runs great as long as the weather is perfect, temperatures are perfect, road is perfect, no wind, and an EV charger every mile.
We've seen crashes on OneWheels. This sounds disastrous
Concerns over reliability with other models
I have that model for many months and I am really enjoying the scooter.
Discussion about varying user experiences with Hover-1 products
why do people hate hover 1? ive seen people say call hover 1 every name in the book and why is that? i own an alpha and am very happy, no issues and no problems with the folding and unfolding like many say.
You have luck and some people don't?
everything needs adjustment ,tune-up and regularly check and following what manual suggests to do or not.
User experiences vary widely
