Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about proper rope storage techniques
How do I store it best over a longer period of time like a few months? Is it best to leave it inside a rope bag or should I get it out of there?
Dry, dark place. This is the most important. UV light eats into the rope.
How do you feel about hanging a coiled rope indoors? Is indirect sunlight enough to damage a rope over time, or is that overthinking things?
What about a rope bag in my trunk?

Discussion about rope usage in backpacking
Just for a regular backpacker. I don’t hang my food or use hammocks/tarps.
I carry about 25 feet of 550 cord for a bear bag/general purpose and about 5-7 feet to hang my bag on a tree.

Concerns about flying with climbing gear
Flying with climbing gear? Has anyone had troubles with flying with climbing gear?
I'll usually carry-on my rack if possible. God forbid my gear got in lost it would ruin the whole trip.
I regularly fly with (checked) ropes, wrenches, knives, hammers and the like. Never had any issue with that.
No issue on the 7 different flights I took over the course of the last two weeks on various tiny island hopper airlines, domestic delta, and international delta
Discussion about traveling with climbing gear on planes
I was hoping to carry on the plane my backpack with laptop, and also my rope bag with a rope and quick draws in it.
One TSA guy took it out, asked how much rope there was, asked his supervisor, and she said, "what is he going to do with 200 ft of rope, let it through...".
Both times, they ended up not giving a shit.
I have never traveled with rope in my carry on luggage. But got stopped once and asked about my quickdraws.
