Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Giftable product that brings back nostalgia

Efficient flour milling
She says the Wondermill is fine, albeit takes up a lot of space, but she can't wait to get her hands on a Mockmill.
Probably a long shot, but does anyone on here have any thoughts or recommendations on what is the best out of the following home grain mills:
I'm thinking my best bet to get the size of mill I want and to not spend more on the mill than I did on the car.
Faster milling capacity compared to attachments
My opinion has always been that for not much more money you can get a mill that mills much faster and higher capacity.
Super easy to mill grains
I like milling my own whole grains to the fineness that suits me.
Better flavor from freshly milled flour
the taste is so much better that the trade off is worth it.
Durable and well-built construction
Well finished and robust. Uses either burrs or stones, and can grind anything I guess, even oily seeds and nuts.
I have a Wonder Mill Jr and think its a great value.
Impressive performance as a workhorse
I’m impressed with it.
Desire to upgrade to Wondermill Junior Deluxe for better features
I'm thinking of upgrading to the Wondermill Junior Deluxe now, which is why I'm on this thread, but that's because I want the option of stone burrs.
Versatile for coffee and spice grinding
Seriously, don't put yourself through manual grinding.
Simple and easy to use functionality
The function of this thing is incredibly simple.
Versatile grinding capabilities for various flours
Amazing! Does it do nut flours as well or only grains?
High quality construction
Looks like a high quality mill

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Noise level is a concern
What kept me from the Wondermill or NM Classic was the noise level.
Price is a concern
It's pricey ($800 USD), but the Mockmill 200 **Pro** has a *12-year* residential warranty
Plastic parts are fragile
The KitchenAid attachment works but it's fairly fragile as I just broke a couple of plastic tabs dropping it.
Expensive whole grains
I have the kitchen aide attachment mill and I love it.
Poor quality flour production
the flour quality was poor. It just wouldn't make high quality flour.
Takes a long time to fulfill orders
I just got one, but bear in mind it took almost 4 months to be fulfilled.
Potential for stone burr pieces to get into flour
we are guessing this is a piece of the stone burr that came off.
It’s apparently also possible that these stones can damage your mill.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on milling preferences and alternatives
Adjusting the stones takes 6 movements and 10 seconds. Super easy. It’s very well designed and engineered.
In your shoes, I'd go for the Komo/Mock. Spend a little more and get a quality mill that's fun to use.
And for me it would be the Professional 200 because it looks great 😊.
Discussion about preferences for different types of mills
I need a grain mill because the blender just isn't going to cut it, but the cost is a little dicey as I am still starting with this side of things.
I definitely think a stone mill is the way to go.
Comparison of milling efficiency between various models
Here is whole review video on the Nutrimill Harvest Grain Mill and talks about the kitchen aid mill attachment too.
Discussion about the need for a mill for gluten-free baking
These results look really good.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about DIY milling solutions
It has taken me more than five years to get it fully usable.
A horizontal mill is one of the volumes.
If not, at the end this project will cost pretty close to a new chinese desk-top mill with pretty similar functionality.

Discussion about sales and pricing of grain mills
Nutrimill just had their classic on sale for $199 but I'd prefer a nicer one.
I got my mockmill on Breadtopia web site, it was refurbished and on sale. Still works like a charm.
I've seen the Nutrimill Harvest (their stone mill) on sale late last year, but don't remember the specific occasion.
I’ve honestly never yearned for more than my Nutrimill Classic, lol.
Discussion about other grain mill brands
both will work fine.
Any issues with the flavour changing with the stone wheels?
Discussion on milling techniques and hydration levels
you're going to need a higher hydration level than you normally would because the flour with soak it up really quickly.
Discussion about alternative grain mill options
my ***STRONG*** recommendation is that if you care about being able to hand-crank it, get a Country Living Grain Mill.
Downside: the mill has a drawer where the flour falls into. In hindsight I would have prefered one of those tube-shaped outlets you place a bowl under.
Discussion about various grain mill brands
Try Komo Brand from pleasant hill grain.
Like most things= what is your budget?
I’d like a grain mill one day but the blender works for now.
Discussion about preferences for different grain mills
Does anyone have experience using one? I would use it for grinding corn for animals, primarily, but also for kitchen use.
It makes the best flour of all of them (tied with the Komo, really), is the easiest to work on, and is the most versatile.
They make mills that are electric with a Manual option.
Advice on using cleaner berries to avoid issues
It's worth every $1. I bought a Mockmill, though not the most expensive, I'd hate to chinz on the berries just to save a few.
Comparison with other grain mills based on price and performance
Wondermill is very much the middle grade.
Consideration of various brands and models
it's actually cheaper because the Grainmaker comes with everything you need for that stuff out of the box
Tossing up between that (barely used model for $300) and the Mockmill 200/Komo Fidibus 21 range for first mill.
Need for recommendations on grain processing
So what grain mill have you used or recommend getting? I would prefer something without electricity.
Mention of other mill types and comparisons
You can get by just fine with a "corona" mill (pretty cheap).

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about the milling process and preferences
I went with the wonder mill jr deluxe for this reason. I did this because it has a masa auger if you want to make tortillas or tamales, you can also make various nut butters and grind oily grains.
Discussion about inspecting and sifting wheat to avoid stones
I think only if you had a stone in your grain would the millstone break and I think you would know if you were grinding a stone or piece of millstone.
It’s a pain to sort through them, but they’re usually pretty easy to see if you pour your wheat into a while bowl before pouring it into the hopper of your mill.
Discussion about experiences with various grain mills
Does anyone use a manual grain mill and if so which one have you found to work well for things like beans and nuts (turning both into flour)
They're the only two mills that would work with everything we wanted them to *and* produced a high enough quality of flour to make nice bread.
I have no way of getting electricity if power goes out at the moment but I have a gift card with exactly enough for a hand grain mill lol
The only one I know of that can grind virtually anything is the Diamant, but at $1k and nearly 60lbs it is a serious investment.
Discussion about manual mills and their effort
Anyone using a manual mill? Something like the Country Living mill? Is it a viable option?
I use a Country Living Mill! I'm in love with it, it's probably my favorite thing I own.
On one hand you can always use it if power goes out or some such situation, on the other hand they don't mill very fine and they're a lot of work.
Got one shortly after 9/11 in case of power outages from further attacks. Tried it once, and I even got the wondermill brand, and it still was hard to grind an appreciable amount without giving up.
