Snoop's Take

The Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener Kit is a manual, angle-guided sharpener engineered to effortlessly restore a razor edge to both pocket and kitchen knives. It features a three-sided abrasive jig-and-clamp system that ensures precise, repeatable sharpening with adjustable angles from 15 to 30 degrees. Consumers have been vocal about its idiot-proof design and ease of use. One reviewer noted, “the worksharp precision adjust is idiot proof and can get your knives very sharp,” while many others appreciate its fixed-angle system and versatility for different blade types. However, some users caution that the system struggles with larger knives and clamp stability can be an issue, leading to a mixed but largely positive sentiment overall. In conclusion, despite a few design limitations noted by some advanced users, the kit’s ability to deliver consistent, sharp edges makes it a recommended choice for everyday and on-the-go sharpening needs in its category.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Idiot‐proof design yields very sharp knives
the worksharp precision adjust is idiot proof and can get your knives very sharp.
Great for advanced beginners and easy to learn
It's hands down the best advanced beginner set you can get.
I’ve recently got one of these, and absolutely love it.
Improves angle consistency
This made it a breeze.
Works effectively when using blade removal for sharpening the Arc
I'd remove the blade from the arc to sharpen, make your life easier.
Delivers effective performance on various knife types with practice
As a long time semi-pro sharpener, I would strongly encourage you to practice on some beater knives before doing the arc.
Remove thumbstud to prevent interference with the stones
Just make sure to remove the thumbstud before you start, as it will likely get into contact with the stones otherwise.
Fixed-angle system offers ease of use and repeatable results
I can get a very good, repeatable, moderately low effort edge using my Worksharp precision adjust.
I will recommend the fixed angle system, as it will be easier to learn, and more consistent from the start.
Optimal sharpening setup for Global knives (15° angle and proper grit progression)
15 deg angle. I use 120, 220 1000 and strop with white paste.
Don't overdo it, Globals sharpen fast.
Electric sharpener with blade grinder attachment works well with practice
It’s great in general. If you’re willing to learn, it can do a ton of.
Remember to cool down the blade periodically to prevent temper loss with electric sharpening
it's a lot easier to take off more material than you actually need.
Idiot‐proof design for beginners
The best for beginners. I like how idiot proof it is for sharpening noobs such as myself.
Can confirm I am an idiot, and it works very good can use my smock sharp and all my kitchen knives.
Effective sharpening performance at a great value
They are actually pretty good. I use one and can put a pretty nice looking edge on my knives.
Yes!!!!!! That upped my sharping game from okay to shaving with my knife.
For the price it gets the job done.
That impressively sharp honestly I bet it can shave and maybe whittle hair.
Portable design ideal for field use
It is exactly what it claims to be and it will put a very sharp edge on any knife, broadhead or fish hook.
the thing is great for what it is
They’re good if you need to touch up a dole blade when you’re out and about.
these are a great on the go solution for if you're out in the fields etc.
Effective for emergency and touch-up sharpening
Best tool that exists for edge maintenance imo
It's Fix-A-Flat for a blade.
Versatile sharpening with multiple surfaces
I was able to use them with good results so I feel confident in the bigger plates, especially with four incremental surfaces.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Struggles with sharpening larger knives
Honestly it’s OK. Does fine up to 154cm.
Clamp instability reduces compatibility with longer chef knives
It does have some movement that can be cured by a support under the clamp.
Flaws may prompt an upgrade
You will find flaws in this system and want to upgrade fairly soon.
Limited angle range for Japanese and flexible knives
I would stay away from guided systems for japanese kitchen knives.
Lack of stone/grit options and non‐replaceable stones
the lack of stone/grit options is my main turn off with it.
Clamp design issues causing performance concerns and uncertainty with blade retention
As long as it clamps up, I don't think removing the blade should be necessary.
I ran across a post where someone said they couldn't sharpen their Garage 005 with it, and now I'm paranoid that I wasted my money on this.
Wobble and inconsistent angle precision (WSPA stability issues)
I’ve heard the WSPA can be a bit wobbly and the angle is not very consistant.
Limited abrasive effectiveness on high carbide/vanadium steels, often necessitating costly diamond alternatives
You can sharpen any steel, but steels with high carbide content can seem to get a little more "chippy" since the carbide does not really get taken off from the sharpener.
You will likely struggle somewhat on the higher carbide ones like S90V and S110V and you don't be able to effectively cut and finish the edge without harder abrasive like CBN or diamond.
I still like and value my work sharp, it will always have a place in my sharpening arsenal.
There are diamond belts sold for the Ken Onion Worksharp but they're a bit pricey.
Limited compatibility with larger knives due to clamp instability
it's not really built for super large knives (over 4"), there's a little play/wiggle in the clamping system that made the sharpening angle a little inconsistent sometimes.
This one is perfectly fine for your average EDC knife, but big kitchen knives will be kind of a pain.
Missing carrying case
My only major complaint is that I wish it came with a case.
Durability concerns with WS stones
I don’t see the WS stones lasting as well as the Venev’s.
Lacks ergonomic design for multi-knife sharpening
it is not very ergonomic for multiple knife sharpening IMO.
