The price is reasonable, too.

Positive Feedback

Still used it to train for another race, but told the app I was running 1-2 times less per week so it cut out one of the intense days and did easy runs "off plan".

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Reasonable pricing for quality slings
The price is reasonable, too.
Is a 240cm sling a quad? I was out doing a private class with a guide and we were talking about something when I said, “Oh yeah, and maybe you could bring a quad for that.”
Useful for weight distribution during events
I was thinking of bringing some nylon climbing runners or daisy chains to help the team sling the weight and distribute it easier vs carrying it solely on our shoulders.
Good to have for various uses
Runners are always a good thing to have log or not.
Effective for reducing rope drag
Further Extending DMM Cams The DMM Dragon cam can extend w the attached dyneema sling, but what if you want to extend it further?
Yup this is great. Normally I carry ~4 alpine draws on the harness and the rest in runner-runner style.
Versatile for different climbing setups
Ignore the cam racking carabiner, just let it hang there unused.
Manufacturing moved back to SLC for quality control
So hopefully this kind of stuff is in the past.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
App is too intense for beginners
Still used it to train for another race, but told the app I was running 1-2 times less per week so it cut out one of the intense days and did easy runs "off plan".
I think the key is to listen to your body and know when to swap a speed session for an easy run.
Would you say they fit the bill for concerts/festivals as the website claims they do?
Involved too much speed work, risking injury
Stuck with flux. Love them still
Preference for longer Dyneema slings
Would rather have a longer dyneema sling and the option to extend.
Limited functional use for some users
The only function they serve me is to hang gear in my overly packed gear closet, girth hitched to a clothing rod.
Lack of dedicated zipper pocket
Not having a dedicated zipper pocket up top was a deal breaker for me.
Pockets lose space quickly
the pockets lose space so quickly.
Maybe overall L would have been better size.
Product recall due to quality issues
Black Diamond is issuing a voluntary recall for inspection of carabiners/quickdraws and Nylon Runners.
How the hell do you let a runner only held together with masking tape out of your factory?
I had a BD carabiner fail on me last August and I fell about 25 feet and somehow walked away with only a cut up back.
Bad enough look to have to recall multiple types of krabs for multiple failure modes, but also slings?

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Lightweight setup with Black Diamond products
This is the lightest setup I have found.
Discussion about the terminology of slings and anchors
You can say quad length sling, but just calling it a 240 is much more common
I use my quad length sling to tie a quad, and usually leave it untied and coiled on my harness.
Discussing methods of extending cam placements
Just clip to the sling on the cam... An unused carabiner on a cam does not mean yer gonna die.
I often don’t extend the cam if putting an alpine draw on as it’s usually sufficient and makes life easier for the second.
Discussion on types of quickdraws and webbing
The metal will be fine, but buy dogbones for the webbing connector.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about alternative uses for slings
Small slings? I bought a handful of these to temporarily replace some sus cam slings.
You could use them to sort/store gear.
Discussion about making homemade slings with webbing
Ice Axe Sling Question I just bought my first ice axe, BD Raven, and was considering buying a pre-made sling until I noticed the prices.
You can use a double runner as a leash; 9ish ft of webbing tied in a water knot.
If you want a long sling that you can clip to your harness open up the webbing and run a piece of elastic cord inside.
Discussion on alternative uses for runners
A couple of lengths of 2" webbing 6' to 8' long might be more useful in various situations.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Safety of nylon slings for top roping
I was freaked out after watching the video, and I was wondering if you guys could provide me your thoughts about the safety of our Dynex runner.
The bottom line is that these videos are talking about what happens when **static** material is **dynamically** loaded.
Any sling rated for climbing is just fine for top rope setups, thats what makes top roping great.
Inquiry about future product releases (240cm version)
It would be excellent for multipitch anchors!
Clarification on CE tags and their meaning

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Preference for Dyneema over Nylon for specific uses
The trade off with UHMWPE is that it is much stronger per weight, but weaker under shock load.
They are also light for alpine stuff.
The sewn label and ease of unraveling an alpine draw is worth the premium price imo.
Dyneema slings for 99% of the time. Lighter weight, lower bulk.
Preference for Dyneema over Nylon for strength and performance
Slings are crazy strong (at least new ones are).
Therefore there is going to be higher loads transferred to the hardware.
Discussion around the strength and failure rates of gear
Failure isn't exactly a competition. You climb log enough you'll see gear fail.
It's not really an issue in practice, and certainly doesn't need to be one.
PSA: If buying a high capacity (512GB/1TB/1.5TB) MicroSD this Black Friday, be mindful many manufacturers are offering MUCH lower quality models (high failure rate & overheating) for lower prices, while manipulating Amazon Reviews to hide it.
Discussion about product recalls and manufacturing issues
Black Diamond, a climbing equipment manufacturer, have a new product recall for slings.
The tape on the slings is from a splice on the roll of material, not from some sort of unraveling or a rush to finish a job.
Their current carabiner recall is pretty bad too.
From the carabiner steps, they seem to be pointing out all the areas that could possibly go wrong with their biners, not necessarily where a problem has already been identified.
Need for replacing soft gear after 5 years
You would want to replace them.
Caution about using older gear and quickdraws
Serious warning here, the photo is a bit grim!
