Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion about gear recommendations for multi-pitch and rappelling
What gear does each climber need when multi pitching and rappelling? I’ve seen rappelling devices online. Is there one you all recommend?
Do single pitch rappelling first. If you want to do multi pitch, then you should buy the atc guide or the petzl pivot or something you can use to belay from above.
I think you climb with a negative WR up until GM, and even there, at least in GM3 you still may get a few points more for a win that you lose for a loss.
Discussion about cleaning climbing gear
How can I clean them without accidentally damaging them?
If it’s a particularly nasty disease maybe put them in q box for a few days before cleaning.
Soap and water are fine.
Most manufacturers have instructions on their website.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about climbing experiences and locations
The Sphinx Glacier area is one of my favourite places in BC, and these two peaks did not disappoint.
I'm very proud of this accomplishment.
This shoe was an exception in enjoying a foam that was not as firm.
Novablast 5 - First Run Review About Me: M28, 160 lbs, forefoot striker. I run 60 MPW, not training
Discussion about trail running experiences
Still, I know trail running is a whole different beast.
That there is a reason for existence of trail running shoes 😅
Ohhh, I genuinely had not even thought of this!
Discussion about climbing gear ratings and safety
Eh, we use mostly nylon slings, but at least for rope access work, the mfg. tested MBS ratings for sewn slings are generally recognized.
i agree nylon is way more suitable for IRATA use
Great videos if you use any of that kind of gear.
That little sling is not meant to be loaded full time, but rather it's supposed to take occasional dynamic loads of up to 6000 pounds and static loads of around 200-300 pounds.
Climbing experiences and preferences
that sling is a composite construction of dyneema and nylon. It has some of the best properties of both including a very high static strength and decent abrasion resistance.
Discussion on the legitimacy of less common brands
Climbing Technology is a legit brand.
Climbing Technology itself may sound dodgey, but is definitely on the same level of reliability and quality as BD, Petzl, etc.
Discussion around climbing experiences
Hands down the best HyperX has ever made in terms of build and comfort.
Discussion about the use of slings in different cultures and practices
Sick of my kitten climbing on me when I’m baking for the week so I finally made him a kitten sling.
In Africa, there is a common practice where the mother will tie the baby to her back just like this so she can do chores and cook etc.
