Snoop's Take

The Black Diamond Womens Crag Half-Finger Rock Climbing Gloves are specifically designed for belaying and offer a comfortable fit for rock climbers. With their durable construction and thoughtful design, these gloves provide essential hand protection during climbs, making them a reliable choice for climbers of various skill levels. Consumer feedback highlights the gloves' durability and comfort, with many users noting that they are easier to fix and provide a good fit for different hand sizes. As one user mentioned, "BD last longer and are easier to fix, have the thumb protection and fit my hands better than some of the other brands." However, some climbers with larger hands have found that the gloves may not fit as well, affecting their grip and dexterity when jamming. Overall, the Black Diamond Womens Crag Half-Finger Rock Climbing Gloves are recommended for their category, particularly for those looking for a balance of comfort and protection while climbing. The mixed feedback suggests they are best suited for climbers who value durability and can adapt to the gloves' fit.

BD last longer and are easier to fix, have the thumb protection and fit my hands better than some of the other brands.

Positive Feedback

Thicker gloves make thin hand cracks harder and give you less feel and feedback, which I've heard can slow down learning of good jamming technique.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Durable and easy to fix
BD last longer and are easier to fix, have the thumb protection and fit my hands better than some of the other brands.
Comfortable for thin hand cracks
these are great, only exception is for us fat handed folks they make thin cracks even harder.
Provides good hand protection while belaying
Your hands can get dirty so the gloves are nice when flaking a rope that’s been outside.
It definitely comes down to preference :)
Thx a lot :) I think it’s really personal preference and you basically said exactly same reasons I

Durable and provides natural feel for the stone
+1 for the BD crack gloves. Also look way better than any of the competition
+1. The BD gloves are by far the best on the market. The most durable pair as well as from my experience.
+1 BD crack gloves. I climb around Tahoe and they make long crack days a delight
Good for various crack sizes
I can be rough on them, and they hold up—no delicate touch needed.
Very impressed with the pack's capacity
Very impressed.
Attachment points for poles and axes
I actually attached axes to it in the store to see how it holds up.
Great value for the price
they're starting to smell like wet dog because I have super sweaty hands, but they're great.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Thicker gloves can hinder learning technique
Thicker gloves make thin hand cracks harder and give you less feel and feedback, which I've heard can slow down learning of good jamming technique.
May not fit well for larger hands
I can’t seem to get purchase whenever I place what feels like it should be a good fist jam because my skin is soft and I bruise easily.
Thick gloves hinder dexterity
Best mountaineering gloves for cold weather: Black Diamond Helio vs Black Diamond Guide Climbing Mt Hood in early March.
Sorry to not answer your question but those thick gloves are not very dexterous.
I prefer lighter, more dextrous gloves for activities with backup warm gloves for idle time or extreme conditions.
I carry two sets of gloves. One lighter dexterous glove: when you’re moving, your blood is pumping, you don’t need oven mitts on your hands.
Preference for more friction over gloves
I'm terrified to use them as I'd rather burn my fingers than feel less friction on the rope!

Discussion about convenience of gloves versus tape in climbing
What is the best crack climbing glove on the market? There seems to be quite a few crack climbing gl
Ignore people talking about tape. Unless you are climbing near your limit gloves are fine and far more convenient.
Tape is best, but a lot of hassle for single pitch.
Discussion about glove alternatives for climbing
Best BD Punisher alternative (best ice climbing gloves?) I have been using BD Punishers for many years now and I love their warmth/dexterity ratio.

I haven't found a better lead glove for cold weather ice climbing.
Outdoor research bitter blaze glove? I haven't used them, but just purchased a pair based on reviews specifically mentioning suitability for ice climbing.

there are workarounds. Maybe you can't play with fingernails, but plenty of really good guitarists play with finger picks.

Discussion about various glove recommendations for climbing.
Can anyone tell me what types and how many of each pair of gloves I’ll need to have for a mixed ice climbing trip that will involve ice climbing, rock climbing, belaying and a bunch of waiting around?
Cheap nylon liners from the dollar store for whatever.
1k glove collection?? Dude I wanna see that
Awesome! This is really helpful. Better to start cheaper at first!

But definitely go for fingerless options imo.

Comparison of different packs for climbing and running
I wouldn't want to run in it - it would bounce along.
Discussion about different glove brands and recommendations for climbing
I'm looking for something that wouldn't impede dexterity too much and would be water resistant as much as possible.
Do not waste money on the fanciest gloves.
If it's colder than -15C to -20C, you probably need beefier gloves than the fishing gloves or need to add a liner to them.
Belay mitts is where you should put your glove money.
Discussion about recommendations for weightlifting gloves
Weightlifting gloves? I've been focusing a lot on lifting heavier weights (I did yesterday's deadlifts with 25lbs!), and between that and the row machine, my hands are in a constant state of blistering, calluses and just generally feeling really raw.
Callouses and blisters are something to live with when you do stuff like this, and gloves can help.

I use fingerless leather sailing gloves. Works great.
Discussion about gloves not being suitable for free climbing
those gloves arent really for free climbing, more for belaying like it says in the description.
You can't wear gloves when climbing. You just won't get the grip you need, no matter how the gloves are designed.
Mention of personal experience with fingernails affecting grip
This creates a problem not only when trying to get a proper grip and it creates some wear and tear on my nails for when I play.
