Snoop's Take

The HK Army HPA Paintball Tank is a lightweight carbon fiber compressed air tank designed for paintball and airsoft enthusiasts. With a capacity of 68ci and a maximum pressure of 4500 psi, this tank enhances mobility while ensuring ample air supply during gameplay. Consumer sentiment largely appreciates the tank's lightweight design, with users noting that it significantly improves mobility on the field. "I’ve got the 68 and enjoy it thoroughly," one user states, reflecting a common satisfaction with its performance. However, some feedback highlights concerns regarding quality control, with mentions of broken products and subpar regulators, leading to mixed feelings about the brand overall. Despite the concerns, the HK Army HPA Paintball Tank is generally recommended for players seeking a balance of lightweight design and air capacity, though potential buyers should weigh the quality control issues mentioned by some users.

Mines great, I would get the adjustable reg so you can rotate the fill nipple to where it won't dig into your wrist.

Positive Feedback

HK Army Rant I’ve had an absolutely awful experience with hk in the past few months, from pods that shattered the first time they got shot, pants that ripped in the first game I played in them, knee pads that bite the back of your leg, and my HK mini gs exploded in my hand the 3rd time I used it, this company had 0 quality control, they ship you things that are already falling apart, then blame you for “improper maintenance” when you try and warranty through them.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Lightweight design enhances mobility
Mines great, I would get the adjustable reg so you can rotate the fill nipple to where it won't dig into your wrist.
what is the lighests tanks no hk army
I run a 90/4500 carbon fiber ninja and personally feels lighter than a aluminum 48/3000
I’ve got the 68 and enjoy it thoroughly. No issues whatsoever. Personally I consider the weight reduction/size difference to be negligible.
Tanks are smaller and lighter than before
tanks are both smaller and lighter than they used to be.
More shots, less fills
Went from 48/3000 metal boi to 68/4500 aerolite with absolutely zero regrets.
Color options match guns
They’re fine, I only got mine because the colour matched my gun closer than the ninja
Durable with minor issues
but the HK Aerolite is perfectly adequate for most casual players' purposes.
Attractive design
The doom tanks are beautiful 😍

Poor quality control with products breaking easily
HK Army Rant I’ve had an absolutely awful experience with hk in the past few months, from pods that shattered the first time they got shot, pants that ripped in the first game I played in them, knee pads that bite the back of your leg, and my HK mini gs exploded in my hand the 3rd time I used it, this company had 0 quality control, they ship you things that are already falling apart, then blame you for “improper maintenance” when you try and warranty through them.
I haven’t really liked anything I got from them. Their elbow pads give me carpal tunnel, xl kneepads were way too small on certain parts, and the reg busted a pin valve seal and I can’t find an easy replacement.
HK's regulators are considered only 'OK'
HK's regs are OK at best. In the $180+ price range, it's money best spent getting something with a solid reg.
Preference for other brands over HK
Neither. First strike hero 2. Only need to hydro vs throw out after 15 years. Also super light.
Regulator quality concerns
The reg is the important part. I don’t trust their regulators as they are just the large scale Chinese crap.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
HK's branding as a lifestyle brand
HK really started as way more of a “lifestyle” brand for paintball than anything else from what I remember.
General discussions about weight differences in tanks
Big weight difference?
Discussion about the performance impact of regulators
So despite common misconceptions, your accuracy in your marker starts with the regulators.
Tank regulators have very, very little affect on modern markers consistency.
I'm going to assume you're looking at carbon fiber tanks. Aside from weight, bottles are bottles.
Chatter about tank sizes and setups
Most of my gear is old enough for an aarp card but that hasn't stopped me from having a blast.
48/3500 for $30 and if you hate it you can upgrade.
Discussion about thread sizes for paintball tanks
Hi everyone I am an air gunner who is looking to use paintball tank for my pcp project.
All paintball tanks use the same threads, 1/2" NPS - it's the only thing in paintball that has actually become an accepted universal standard.
Based on the thread size OP gave I believe they are asking about the reg/tank thread not the reg/marker thread.
Although the size is functionally identical, in the context of compressed gas containers it is a CGA-320 thread.
Thread sizes are standardized across paintball tanks
All paintball tanks have the same threads, HPA tanks are they only ones you should consider buying tho.
Carbon fiber tanks are thin aluminum on the inside that is wrapped in carbon fiber and coated in a hardened gel coat similar to fiberglass.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Perception of HK as beginner-friendly
They definitely market themselves as being a good brand for beginners and I bought into that marketing, only listening to direct opinions from people I play with from now on
Discussion about tank size perception
Hk army alpha air Was not prepared for the actual size of this tank in person!
Discussion about trying out gear before purchase
Most of us are pretty chill. If youre worried try to pick up a cheap 3000 aluminum tank off a BST group.
I've always found the ninja 50/4500 to be best for a real tight set up but a 68/4500 really isn't too bad to shoulder and keep in tight.
Discussion about used tank purchasing options
Buy a used tank. You can easily find a comparable tank for $100 or less.
Common tank size recommendation for Tippmann Cronus
A 68 cubic inch, 4500 psi tank has been very common for many years, you can go bigger, but it's probably unnecessary as you can refill the air tank after each game at most fields.
Discussion about refilling air tanks at fields
Can I refill my air tank with my air compressor

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about HK tanks being made by the same manufacturer as Ninja.
Opinion on HK tanks. Debating on trying an hk tank.
Their pro style regs are manufactured by Ninja, so they're fine as well.
Lightest non hk is probably an infamous tank.
Ninja Carbons are pretty light to me.
General chatter about tank manufacturing and branding
Get whatever is on sale in the size you need.
Comment on Ninja's involvement in HK's product line
It’s changed over the years. I know ninja made their aerolite 2 reg. It has the ninja logo on it.
Discussion about HK tanks and Infamous tanks
I think manufacturer that makes HK tanks do the Infamous tanks as well (someone please fact check me).
Concerns about brand perception in the community
How does the community feel about hk army? They gonna clown on me at the field if I show up in a hk fit??
