Snoop's Take

The HK Army Paintball Aluminum HPA Tank with Regulator - 48/3000 in Olive Blue is designed for paintball enthusiasts seeking a reliable and lightweight air tank solution. This durable aluminum tank offers an 800 psi output pressure and a convenient flat bottom for easy storage. Consumer sentiment reflects a mix of appreciation for the tank's lightweight design and reliable performance. Many users praise the tank's usability, stating, "Mines great, I would get the adjustable reg so you can rotate the fill nipple to where it won't dig into your wrist." However, some feedback suggests that it may not be the best choice for pump players, with comments like, "Not worth the price imo. 13ci 3000 tank should do the trick for 1/5 of the price if you're playing with 50rd hopper / 50rd pods." Overall, the HK Army HPA tank is recommended for players looking for a solid beginner option or a lightweight alternative, provided they are aware of its limitations compared to higher-end alternatives.

Their basic regs are fine, people are just elitists when it comes to regs when it really doesn't make that much of a difference.

Positive Feedback

Not worth the price imo. 13ci 3000 tank should do the trick for 1/5 of the price if you're playing with 50rd hopper / 50rd pods.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
HK Army tanks have reliable basic regulators.
Their basic regs are fine, people are just elitists when it comes to regs when it really doesn't make that much of a difference.
what is the lighests tanks no hk army
Adjustable regulator improves usability
Mines great, I would get the adjustable reg so you can rotate the fill nipple to where it won't dig into your wrist.
Lightweight and easy to handle
I have a 77 and love it. It’s roughly the same size as a regular 68.
Same, 77. I really like the size and weight, I just don’t trust the regulator.
I’ve got the 68 and enjoy it thoroughly. No issues whatsoever.
I have the 77 and it is good to go.
Good performance with no issues
Chefs kiss in my opinion.
Reliable basic regulators
regulators make a big difference, excuse my ignorance
the reg that makes the most difference. Basic regs are fine, but I've always been a buy once person, so Ninja has been my go-to for 15+ years.
Good consistency from better regulators
So despite common misconceptions, your accuracy in your marker starts with the regulators.
Lightweight tanks are advantageous
Short answer, no there's no performance difference on how paintballs will come out of your marker.
Good value in comparison with used tanks
Buy a used tank. Jump one the Facebook BST pages, or /r/paintballbst and get a tank.
Lighter weight compared to previous tanks
Went from 48/3000 metal boi to 68/4500 aerolite with absolutely zero regrets.
Suitable for beginners
The 48/3000 is an ok beginner tank, but it's heavy and doesn't hold a lot of air.
Good value compared to used tanks
which one of these should I get? is 3000 enough?
Good color matching with guns
They’re fine, I only got mine because the colour matched my gun closer than the ninja
Reliable performance over time
Nothing special, but by no means bad.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Not worth the price for pump players
Not worth the price imo. 13ci 3000 tank should do the trick for 1/5 of the price if you're playing with 50rd hopper / 50rd pods.
Unnecessary for pump setups
I can see the utility in a semi-auto setup, but not for a pump.
Poor quality control leading to product failures
they ship you things that are already falling apart, then blame you for “improper maintenance” when you try and warranty through them.
I haven’t really liked anything I got from them.
Misleading marketing as a beginner-friendly brand
They definitely market themselves as being a good brand for beginners and I bought into that marketing, only listening to direct opinions from people I play with from now on
Misleading marketing regarding performance
Unpopular opinion: Get whatever is on sale in the size you need.
Regulators are not as solid as competitors
HK's regs are OK at best. In the $180+ price range, it's money best spent getting something with a solid reg.
Preference for alternatives over HK tanks
First strike hero 2. Only need to hydro vs throw out after 15 years.
Heavy and limited air capacity
pay more now so you don't have to pay even more later
Preference for lighter carbon fiber tanks
used it one day and sold it for a carbon fiber cause carbon fiber was way lighter and I could get more shots
Concerns about the quality of regulators
A tank is a tank
Doubt about manufacturing quality
I think manufacturer that makes HK tanks do the Infamous tanks as well (someone please fact check me).

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on different types of HPA tanks (SLP and non-SLP)
Are paintball tanks and HPA tanks the same thing? The look the same I just don’t know if one is different from the other
Yes.
Then you have SLP, which is pretty much not really used in paintball at all.
What does SLP mean? I was going to ask one of my buddies to let me use one of his paintball tanks to start HPA but don’t want to mess my stuff up if they are different.
HK Army's identity as a lifestyle brand
HK really started as way more of a “lifestyle” brand for paintball than anything else from what I remember.
Discussion on advancements in tank technology for size and weight reduction
The skeptic in me wants to know if anyone has sectioned a tank to see if it's truly 68ci.
Now I can see exactly how much smaller.
Discussion on tank size differences
I am looking at the 77 when they become available and wondering how people like the 68’s.
All paintball tanks share a universal thread standard
All paintball tanks use the same threads, 1/2" NPS - it's the only thing in paintball that has actually become an accepted universal standard.
Reference to CGA-320 thread standard for compressed gas containers
Although the size is functionally identical, in the context of compressed gas containers it is a CGA-320 thread.
Discussion on regulator comparisons
Can't go wrong with a ninja tank.
Powerhouse reg with any 4500 tank !! Best regs on the market.
All paintball tanks have the same threads.
HPA tanks are they only ones you should consider buying tho.
A 48/3000 is almost always going to be an aluminum tank.
Discussion on additional mask features and options
I would put Jt Spectra in there as well, its just like the proflex but with the flex bottom.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on utility for semi-auto vs pump
It does give me a decent number more shots out of my sniper than what I'd get with an aluminum 13ci.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on the quality and price differences of carbon fiber tanks
They're all the same quality because they're all regulated by the Department of Transportation.
Uncertainty about which tank size to choose
Just trying to get some opinions, and I’m not sure if I want a 68/4500 or 80/4500 haha
Discussion on the quality and price differences of carbon fiber tanks.
Anything carbon fiber is going to be light with the heaviest spots being the first and second stage regulator.
I run a 90/4500 carbon fiber ninja and personally feels lighter than a aluminum 48/3000.
Uncertainty about which tank size to choose.
Lightest non hk is probably an infamous tank
Comparison with basic tanks
Just get the first strike 17/4500. It’s $100 cheaper
I picked up the 17/4500 FS last year for like 35 bucks on black friday.. I didn't see the price on this but I doubt it's under 50
Discussion on tank size and weight differences over time
I care mostly about fit over how many shots I get out of it.
tanks are both smaller and lighter than they used to be.
Suggestions to try used tanks to start
Most of us are pretty chill. If youre worried try to pick up a cheap 3000 aluminum tank off a BST group.
Recommendations for tank sizes based on user preference
I've always found the ninja 50/4500 to be best for a real tight set up but a 68/4500 really isn't too bad to shoulder and keep in tight
48/3500 for $30 and if you hate it you can upgrade.
Discussion on specific thread sizes for HK Army tanks
Based on the thread size OP gave I believe they are asking about the reg/tank thread not the reg/marker thread.
Discussion about tank size preferences
Best airtank I currently have the generic hk army 68:3000 and I keep running out of air
I have a ninja lite carbon fiber tank 68/4500 attached to a 160R and it will shoot a full Dye LTR hopper and about 10.5 pods before I started running out of air.
The BEST?
Your options are upgrading to a more efficient gun, upgrading to a larger and higher pressure carbon fiber tank (by far the biggest difference, you’ll still need to spend around $100.), and underboring your paint to barrel.
Discussion on appropriate tank sizes.
A 68 cubic inch, 4500 psi tank has been very common for many years, you can go bigger, but it's probably unnecessary as you can refill the air tank after each game at most fields.
Discussion on beginner recommendations for paintball setups
Yes, we know Johnny down the street says the Tippmann 98 is indestructible, and Bobby from school says Spyders are super accurate (neither are correct, by the way).
but but but...
I would recommend breaking the marker and hopper section down by price range and used vs new. Some

Need for beginner guidance in paintball equipment selection
New to paintball, not sure what to buy or where to start?
I'm new to paintball, here are my immediate questions when I read this. Could you update the post? T
Challenges in finding properly fitting masks
A well-fitting mask is like a well-fitting helmet or pair of shoes.
Suggestions for improving the guide for newcomers
Thanks for your feedback, it's really nice to hear it from someone who doesn't know all these things! I'll be sure to add it soon :)

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
There are rumors about HK tanks being made by the same manufacturer as Ninja.
Opinion on HK tanks. Debating on trying an hk tank.
Discussion on HK Army's controversial branding and reputation
I’ll try my best to summarize it here. It’s too good not to share.
u/tapput561 they just added their Nazi Deathshead headband back after they were called out on it.
It’s just completely random that biker helmets look surprising similar to WW2 German helmets.
Discussion about HK Army's controversial branding and reputation
FUCK. THAT. SHIT.
Personal experiences of returning players
I made a splash of a re entry into the game last year after a ten year hiatus.
Discussion on the evolution of tank designs and brands
It’s changed over the years. I know ninja made their aerolite 2 reg. It has the ninja logo on it.
Discussion on the lifespan of carbon wrapped HPA tanks
There is a lot of bad advice going on in this thread...
This is good info to have.
Fire Safety companies are used to doing extinguishers and more industrial air tanks that have wrench flats to take the reg off.
As others have said, dead tank and probably not worth taking the reg for any reason other than it being cool.
Concerns about refilling air tanks.
Can I refill my air tank with my air compressor
