Snoop's Take

The InSinkErator EVOLUTION 1HP garbage disposal is a high-performance kitchen appliance designed to efficiently grind food waste, making it easier to maintain a clean kitchen. With its advanced 4-Stage MultiGrind technology and powerful induction motor, this disposal can handle tough food scraps while operating quietly thanks to its QuietSeal technology. Consumer feedback highlights the unit's strength, with one user noting, "More power, still quiet as the 500 but the inside is ALL stainless steel," showcasing its durability. However, there are concerns regarding its limitations, as some users warn that it is not suitable for large food scraps, stating, “you cannot put 5lbs of potato peels down the disposal.” Additionally, the unit's cost has been a point of contention among buyers, with comments reflecting that it is a significant investment. Overall, while the InSinkErator EVOLUTION 1HP is recommended for its power and quiet operation, potential buyers should consider their food waste habits and plumbing systems to ensure it meets their needs effectively.

More power, still quiet as the 500 but the inside is ALL stainless steel where the 500 is only galvanized (good stuff until the zinc coating wears off and then you’re screwed.)

Positive Feedback

Yep, you cannot put 5lbs of potato peels down the disposal, it just does not work.

Not suitable for large food scraps
Yep, you cannot put 5lbs of potato peels down the disposal, it just does not work.
Two plumbers have told me basically you should not use this for food scraps AT ALL.
Plumbing systems may not support disposal use
The disposal will give you the best results and last the longest if you view it as a tool meant specifically to deal with the bits of food that you -can't- get off of the dishes and such in other ways.
Units are expensive.
Big mistake.

Debate about different brands' disposals.
I’ve only lived in the house 6 years so I’m not sure how long it’s been installed but it finally gave up for good.
Recommendations for cleaning garbage disposals
Seems a little off to me… but I’ve also never cleaned a garage disposal…
My sister dated a plumber, and his recommendation was similar, minus the bleach and baking soda.
Discussion about exclusive models at retailers
these are the ones I am looking at
Costco has sales on disposals
They frequently have disposals on sale.
Advice on replacing leaking garbage disposals
They're not repairable. Get a new one and replace it.
plumber replaced as it was unrepairable
Discussion on hard-wired versus plug-in disposals
There's two kinds of garbage disposals. Ones that plug into an outlet under the sink, and ones that are hard-wired.
Got it. I wasn’t aware of hardwired disposals. TY
Comparison with other brands

General recommendations for various brands
It has demolished everything I’ve thrown at it like it was nothing.
Perfect! And you don't have to deal with rewiring!
Discussion about brand compatibility and mounting brackets
Different brand garbage disposal compatiblity? I'm trying to replace my broken Kitchen Aid garbage disposal with a Badger insinkerator.
They're all different brackets, but Waste King sells a adapter for a InSinkErator bracket.
Once I put the new bracket on it slid in easily.
Badger and Insinkerator use a common bracket (they're the same company), the one that most KitchenAid disposals use doesn't fit.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Garbage disposal debate among users
Our Insinkerator died this weekend, it was all corroded out and let un-chopped food through into plumbing.
The ones in my house and my parents’ house have been going strong since the 1980s.
Modern appliances are designed to be disposable (no pun intended).
Same and my mom throws everything down there.
Debate on the longevity of different brands
Their warrantee for their Evolution 3/4hp is longer than the last 3 garbage disposals.
Misconceptions about garbage disposals
It wasn't until later I learned the food is more "whacked" into the side walls, until it explodes, and is washed away.
I thought that they were called "In sink erators" for the longest time until I said it once and nobody knew what I was talking about lol.
