What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Comfy for all-day use
All day comfy.
Excellent noise reduction
No issues, but I treat my ears with otex once a month.
Seems like the regular ones would work better in general, but I'm very curious bout how Loop ones work? Do they actually block noise more efficiently with some sort of.. technology?
if you want to take the edge off try one of the Loops.
Comfortable for extended use
These are the best ear plugs for me, but I worry I use them too much.
the orange ones are my favorite for comfort and effectiveness.
I managed to sleep through some of it
Effective noise blocking for various activities
One pair is perfect for the gym (I can’t handle people throwing weights around but am still able to hear the instructor)
they have been a game changer as they dampen sound loud enough where it’s tolerable for me.
Comfortable for sleeping and studying
They are great! They do fall out sort of easily overnight sleeping but that's with pressure on the ear from pillow and tossing and turning.
They’re perfect without making everything sound like it’s underwater.
Better than no earplugs for concerts
They will be much better than having no earplugs.
Soft foam provides comfort
This. A thousand times this. So often I see people putting them in wrong, thinking they're getting protection, but they're not.
Affordable and disposable
they're cheap and disposable. I'm not a fan of paying out the ass for something I could easily lose.
Favorite earplugs for comfort
So far the mack's seem to be the winner
My favorite too.
Effective noise reduction compared to OTC earplugs
Good stuff.
That seriously has made a big difference.
Good price-to-performance ratio
I saw in the review that Mack's Ear Plugs seemed the best for the price, and doesn't reduced hearing that much.
Comfortable for sleeping
Love Macks. Use them every night. Best pillow plugs I've found.
Mack's brand is trusted by military personnel
Get a set of fitted earplugs. I'm in the army and I've been using a pair of these ones for over a decade including 2 tours to Afghanistan.
Comfortable for side sleepers
Favorite earplugs for sleeping? My current earplugs that I use for concerts won't work since I'm a side-sleeper and then stick out too far.
Mack's earplugs are a sort of putty you seal your ears with that (if I recall correctly) Tim Ferris says he uses for the exact reason you describe.
Stay in place throughout the night
These look promising. Might give these a go, especially since I can never seem to get those foam earplugs to stay in properly.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Can cause ear pain during long use
they can cause some pain in your ear.
Can fall out during sleep
Mack's would be cheaper but would require to bring more or get one pair of Loops.
Sound may be muddy during concerts
They’ll be protective but expect the sound to be muddy.
Can cause ear pain during overnight use
The foam earplugs make my ears sore when worn overnight because there’s too much pressure on my canals.
Can reduce awareness of surroundings
there is obviously a reduction in hearing that goes along with shoving something in your ears, so you have to be more aware of your surroundings.
Difficult to get used to wearing
I have tried to many times to start wearing earplugs and I just cannot get used to them at all.
Earplugs that are vented will let you hear more.
May affect balance or inner ear sensation
I felt like my balance was not quite right. Maybe the plugs messed with my inner ear?

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Custom molded earplugs are highly recommended
Same. I also had an audiologist make a mold and then provide earplugs that fit perfectly and have swappable filters for -15dB.
Thirded, custom molded earplugs are one of the best investments I’ve ever made.
I think it was around $200 as well.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about using earplugs for sleeping
I have tried, but I sleep on my side and they are kind of hard, so they pushed into my ear and it wasn’t comfortable.
Preference for alternatives like loops
Loops are great. I can never fit foam ones all the way in my ear and, like you, will lose them when I sleep.
Discussion on alternative earplugs
My ear canals are two different sizes so having flexibility is perfect for me.
Custom molded earplugs are the best money I have ever spent.
Discussion on alternatives to foam earplugs
They are reusable as they don't get nasty as quickly as the ones you stuff down in the ear canal.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Debate between foam and custom molded earplugs
Heard the disposable ones are better at noise reduction and ofcourse price wise, but I wanna make sure I'm making the right decision
I have used the Alpine - very good - but have switched back to a quality foam plug (went with E-A-Rsoft FX not Mack's) for maximum DB reduction.
They are very durable and a perfect fit.
Comparison of disposable vs silicone earplugs
The silicone plugs will be washable. So should last you a lot longer than a week.
I know you said $200 is out of your price range but considering you did the math and you're chucking 208 pairs of Mack's in the trash for a pair of silicone custom molded ones which last 10+ years...it's a no brainer for me.
Debate between reusable and disposable earplugs
Usually foam plugs have the most noise reduction for things you can put in your ear.
Cost of custom earplugs
Mine cost about $210. Some health insurance providers might partially cover it.
Out of interest if you don’t mind me asking how much did these run you? I’ve got some decent ones on Amazon at the moment but I’m interested in custom ones. Thanks
Debate on using cheap foam vs expensive earplugs
Are expensive ear plugs worth it/better? (for hostels) I'm staying in my first hostel next week and I want to make sure I get a decent nights sleep so I'm looking to buy some earplugs.
Issues with proper insertion technique
You're probably putting your earplugs in wrong if they're falling out.
Discussion on convenience for side sleepers
Are they convenient for side sleepers?
Comparison of earplug effectiveness for sleep
Personally the only earplugs I've been comfortable sleeping with on a pillow are these "slim fit" ones: https://www.macksearplugs.com/product/slimfit-soft-foam-ear-plugs/.
if the fit is better for one with a slightly lower nominal NRR, it could very well actually be more effective in your personal usage!

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Foam earplugs may not fit well for everyone
If the cheap foam ones don't "fit" in your ears look at how to use them properly, 90% of people don't put them in correctly.
General preference for acoustic neutral earplugs for live events
Expensive acousticly neutral ear plugs are preferable for live music and events, but for sleeping? If the cheap foam ones don't hurt your ears then use em.
Concerns about surfers ear and health
So I made the right choice and decided to start wearing earplugs, like a lot of the older guys I see at my local break.
Discussion on foam earplugs not staying in properly
I love them. The have a really good, more natural shape to them.
