Snoop's Take

Walker's 27dB NRR Passive Hearing Protection Earplugs are designed to provide effective noise reduction for various activities including shooting, hunting, and industrial work. With a comfortable fit and a convenient cord, these earplugs adapt to the shape of your ears, ensuring that you are protected from loud noises while maintaining comfort during use. Consumer sentiment highlights the effectiveness of the earplugs in noise reduction, with users noting that "doubling up helps add a bit more protection" and that they appreciate the soft flanges for comfort. However, some feedback suggests a preference for disposable foam earplugs due to their higher noise reduction ratings. Users generally find the cord convenient for management, stating that it helps prevent losing the earplugs during intermittent use. Overall, the Walker's Passive Hearing Protection Earplugs are recommended for those in need of reliable hearing protection in shooting and noisy environments, especially for those who value comfort and convenience in their ear protection solutions.

you do have to turn up the headphones to the max. Good combo though.

Positive Feedback

I have the Walker's rope earbuds (I forget the exact model), and found them to be lacking as ear protection.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Effective noise reduction
you do have to turn up the headphones to the max. Good combo though.
I have some electronic walker’s that I use but my ears usually will ring for an hour after each session.
doubling up helps add a bit more protection and also provides a backup in case of failure.
The regular Walker’s I believe are only 23nrr which is a bit light for indoor ranges.
Comfortable fit with soft flanges
Excellent. I use the foam tip. Squeeze and roll it around in your fingers then push it deep into the ear and hold it there while it expands and it’s not going anywhere
Your glasses can break the seal a bit, so for indoor ranges which can get really loud, it's nice to also have plugs in. I always double up.
Convenient cord for management
No, because you can still hear the ambient noises the mics are designed to pick up.
Good for shooting alone with Bluetooth
I have Walkers and I like them for when I shoot alone, as they have Bluetooth and I listen to podcasts or an audiobook.

Lacks effectiveness in ear protection
I have the Walker's rope earbuds (I forget the exact model), and found them to be lacking as ear protection.
That’s what I run now on indoor ranges.
I wasn't impressed. I'll have to try them again and pay closer attention to the volume settings.
Preference for disposable foam earplugs
The foamies have the best NRR. Better than over ears or custom in ears

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for gel pads for comfort
sometimes paying more is worth long-term comfort.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on doubling ear protection
Hearing damage is permanent, and doubling up vastly reduces risk of hearing damage! It's just that extra layer of protection for me, using in ear and electronic gives a great degree of protection.
I double up as well if possible at my indoor range- if anything it makes for a more “comfortable” experience when the person in the lane next to you is letting off a rifle or a big bore handgun.
I love my sordins, I also always double up. The plugs also help if you break the seal of the cup making a cheek weld.

Comparison with other brands
Love my Otto’s, especially in the summer heat. Worth every penny.
I use the Walker's Disrupters currently. Kind of like airpods.
The new Savior Apollos on Amazon are better than Walker Slims.
Debate over custom versus non-custom earplugs
Your money will go a lot further on better over ear protection.
Debate over compatibility with various glasses
Buy some Noisefighters replacement pads for your Walkers
I think that might be a good backup plan, but I think the main issue is the thickness of the glasses I have now (and I already bought different gel pads....).
I really like 3M securefit for cheap safety glasses because the stems are really thin and don’t compromise the seal around my earpro as well as just being a lot more comfortable under the earpro due to how thin the stems are.
Discussion about hearing protection preferences
I was hoping for something that had better gunshot compression.
Double up foam earplugs with Howard leight electronic muffs, crank the muffs so I can hear speech.
they do the trick, unless the person next to me is shooting with a muzzle brake
Discussion about preference for double ear protection
I still double up with foamies indoors, but being able to hear other shooters/ROs/your buddies is really nice.
No on ear muffs are as effective as over ear muffs, and no ear muffs of any design are as effective as doubling up ear pro.
Preference for electronic muffs over traditional ones
I like mine and used them for several years. I recently upgraded to the Howard leights and I would highly recommend those.
I’ve had mine for a few years now and haven’t had any issues.
Debate on using different types of ear protection
Will in ear and over ear be enough protection or overkill?
Passive ear muffs should be fine.
I love watching new fans without ear plugs watch funny cars for the first time.
It's the overpressure you need to worry about.
Mention of alternative brands like Decibullz and Howard Leight
I love them for clays. I can hear clearly when spoken to, but gun reports are muffled nicely.
They are rather inexpensive at ~$20-$25. Multiple others I shoot with use them and enjoy them.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Preference for foam plugs and electronic muffs
ear plugs are not ideal because even with the canal plugged the small bones around your ear can still transfer enough sound to cause cumulative damage.
I wear foam ear plugs and then on top the highest NRR muffs I could buy - 37 NRR Decibel Defense off Amazon.
Discussion about ear protection alternatives
I'm looking for an upgrade from Walkers Razor, any suggestions? What would be superior ear pro?
Without having to go way off bank account for OC AMPS, Peltor Comtacs are a good buy for helmet mounting.
Can never go wrong with comtacs
Are the razors not good in the hearing protection aspect? Asking cause mine just just got delivered and testing them tomorrow
Discussion about ear protection preferences
Let’s talk ear pro. What is the best option for hunting?
Much more convenient as I could just wear them around my neck and stuff them in right before a shot.
I use Sordin Supreme Pro-X. Good sound qualty and comfortable to wear.
Muzzle breaks reduce recoil by quite a large amount, between 25-50%. This means someone shooting a large caliber is more likely to shoot their rifle more often due to the lighter recoil and is going to be more accurate from that practice.
Discussion about doubling ear protection
I haven’t been able to go to the range yet to test them out so I’d appreciate it if anyone that has tried it out can let me know.
I have the same… doubled with foam plugs I still hear people fine (quieter than without but that’s the point) although I only double up for indoor ranges.
Discussion on effectiveness of ear protection types
Bone conduction becomes the primary hearing damage factor.
*providing you wear them properly, which 90% of people I see at grounds don't
Discussion on various types of ear protection
Ear protection? What’s a good ear protection thingy to buy for hunting and larger caliber rounds.
The cheapest are *Foam Ear Plugs,* though cheap they are still effective.
Really it is somewhat down to Available Budget.
Debate over passive vs electronic ear protection
I resisted for years but...electronic ear pro is 100% absolutely worth it.
You can always turn the electronics off if you don’t want the extra ambient noise.
