Snoop's Take

The Nilight 2Pcs 3Inch 42W LED Cubes are designed to provide superior lighting for off-road and driving applications. With upgraded brightness and a unique combo beam type, these lights enhance visibility on both high-speed backroads and darker terrains. Consumer sentiment highlights the lights' effectiveness in various scenarios, with users appreciating the "insane" output and visibility: "The output and distance was insane." Many found the installation process straightforward, adding that these lights offer fantastic value for their price, as noted by one user who stated, "I have 12 of them on my roof rack, they are fantastic for the money." Despite some concerns over durability and coating quality, the overall feedback suggests that the Nilight LED Cubes are a solid recommendation for those seeking affordable and effective lighting solutions for their vehicles. Users affirm that while they may not match premium brands, their performance and value make them a worthy choice in their category.

Very nice to have some extra lighting down the road on high speed backroads.

Positive Feedback

Corrosion will find a way in, the coating will flake off, and it'll look like crap in a few years.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Extra lighting for high-speed backroads
Very nice to have some extra lighting down the road on high speed backroads.
Easy installation process
Are the $1k high end light bars 10x better than the $100 Amazon specials? Getting better color, range, or quality out of them?
Made it very easy to add a bead of epoxy all around the seams.
Ideas for a hidden light-bar for those winter night drives into the cabin?
Get the once with wiring and inline fuse, makes installation easier.
Brighter light output and better visibility
The output and distance was insane. Tested them with a lux meter and they more than hit their rating at distance.
It will mount to the actual bumper underneath. Can't hardly tell it's there and actually puts out quite a bit of light even behind the fascia.
Lower down and up front mounts will get you better illumination directly in front of your vehicle.
Fantastic value for the price
Road shock off-road lights Are the roadshock off-road lights any good? I’m thinking about using them for backup lights for my truck.
I have 12 of them on my roof rack, they are fantastic for the money.
Bright light output
They are very bright but I e only had them for a few months.
lenses just as clear as day one, except for bug guts lol
Lenses remain clear over time
the lenses are still crystal clear.
Amber lights provide better visibility in inclement weather
I've run amber on my Jeep for years and there have been some situations where I will turn my headlights off and drive with just the ambers because they are *that* good.
I love using them for winter driving.
It helps the road lines show better.
Great value for the price
Yea they don't cast perfectly like likes 10-20x their price but they are also dumb cheap.
They work just fine. All for under $100 with mounts.
Sufficient brightness for visibility
They’ll work great but may not last 5+ years.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Poor coating quality leading to corrosion
Corrosion will find a way in, the coating will flake off, and it'll look like crap in a few years.
Perceived as overpriced compared to Amazon lights
I feel like the whole road shock line is super overpriced for what it is vs. amazon lights.
Concerns about lens durability over time
How well do the lenses hold up? I notice on our fleet trucks even the aftermarket led work lights glaze over after ~2 years.
Issues with water intrusion and durability
I had a pair of Niilights as ditch lights and they got water intrusion and ended up failing.
Can you tell me if [these](http://m.imgur.com/h50DdWG) lights are garbage or not?

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about the importance of thermal management in LED lights
managing thermal runoff is a big deal this is what keeps LEDs bright for years
General discussion about off-road lighting options
Recently got a Crosstrek and looking into mods like this.
Better to mount lights high up or down low?
Personally I'd go low. Like around your headlight height.
Discussion on color effectiveness in fog and snow
I’m interested in their effectiveness in heavy snow/rain/fog.
Critically important, both for performance in real fog and not being a rude driver.
Community engagement and support
I really wish the offroad lighting community was 1/10 as awesome as you guys.
I agree, this community is one of the best and most helpful.
Best community I've found. No one has ever made me feel dumb for asking 'dumb' questions.
Community engagement on lighting preferences
Would recommend anything in a 20-30 degree pattern.
you'd be hard pressed to find LEDs that light up the road as well for less than 4x the price.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
User retrofitted lights to a grill
Have these in mine. I retro fitted them to my grill.
User considering retrofitting lights to a grill
how are these lights holding up? I'm thinking of sticking two of these in the grill of my Miata to light up the backroads at night
User experiences with different installations
I am pretty sure Auxbeam has a few options in their 360 pro lineup, so you can choose bars, pods, or round ones like I got depending on where you want to mount them.
Discussion about the utility of lighting for farming purposes
I farm and this would be extremely useful in the back-40.
Watch out there's some Karen's on here that might tell you they have sensitive eyes 😂
Come to the country then. There's fewer lights... 😆
Jeez everyone needs to relax. Our headlights are pretty sht to begin with.
Discussion about wireless relay switches for lighting
No holes drilled anywhere. No wires run to the cabin. Since the HomeLink will activate/deactivate it, no new switches installed anywhere.
Wow, holy crap. Would never have considered a wireless relay like this. That’s bloody brilliant.
It can mean no modification to the car at all and thus is 100% reversible.
Did you ever do this? Im hoping to do the same exact thing and looking at the parts i need to order.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion about off-road lighting options and preferences
Best bang for your buck in off road lighting? The prices of some of these lights is mind blowing.
LED light bars (windshield mount) make a ton of noise... not something that I would do again.
I wouldn't add a light bar over the windshield because of noise.
If you don’t already have LED headlights, then get that upgrade.
General discussion on off-road lighting options
looks good, nice job
Discussion on alternatives and comparisons
Here’s the ones they basically copied. $370 bucks.
Discussion about wiring light bars and high beams legality
Having a light bar without a connection to the car’s high beams is illegal.
I would personally run a wire from the high beams, that activates a relay to send power to the light bar.
How exactly to do it, and if it is possible for you, will depends on your car and lights.
it's the same way you'd wire it to a switch but instead of the switch energizing your relay, it's your high beams.
Desire for detailed light bar reviews
It probably comes as no surprise that their performance trounced most of the market.
Discussion on brand comparisons and pricing
At $40 if I get another 5 years out of each one, it will be 50 years before the $400 light bar would be worth it.
Discussion about finding affordable lighting options.
Worth noting: this is on a total POS lifted Prius, so no real need to be the most expensive or high quality stuff.
I run LEDs on my jeep and have zero complaints.
They are still working fantastic.
Discussion about brand comparisons and pricing
Auxbeam's seem to be very price competitive compared to the other brand names.
I've seen rigid lights and other similar pods/ bars oxidize rather quickly.
Caliraised LED has come up a good bit in my searches as well when looking for lights that don’t cost as much as my house.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about the appropriateness of LED brightness for fog lights
You don't want bright and fog lights in the same sentence.
This is the correct answer.
