I would trust Panasonic more, but these are at least 200 Euro for the most basic model.
Take the Panasonic. They invented the bread machine. Don't cheap out unless you are not sure you will use it long time.

these news ones I guess are just a product refresh to keep the machines up to date.

it doesn’t have a viewing window, which is a deal breaker for me because i love the process.

My zojirushi basic white bread looks like your Panasonic loaf. In fact, every loaf of bread I have made in it looks like your Panasonic loaf.
I have a Zojirushi for almost 20 years and can make any type of bread that I want, from floofy to sourdough to ciabatta to whole wheat.
my Zojirushi is perfect I love it a lot, I’ve never had a load come out like that.

There are three things here that might be the fault.
With Panasonic machine + bread flour + right yeast, you won't go wrong.
Strong flour is bread flour. It has more gluten in I believe (apologies if that’s wrong!) but it’s different from ordinary baking self raising flour.

So just to clarify, I didn't weigh the water, just used a measuring jug, so I am now weighing the water instead of the jug.
Yes it did, new yeast and more water helped heaps. I'm having a slight issue where it collapses slightly, but I think I have gone too far with the water.
