Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on gear quality and reviews
support brands that support snowboarding.
both brands have a pretty big kook reputation to them now, as they seem to target the demographic of people that ride 1 week a year.
It takes all of the guesswork out of shopping.
Discussion on the importance of securing gear to prevent theft
Watch your gear. Bike lock your board/skis to the rack.
Thefts suck and can really ruin your day — if you are a victim, I would encourage you to fill out a police report.
I think this happens a lot
My broken lock and stolen skis beg to differ.
Discussion on the classification of snowboarding as a workout
Does Snowboarding or Skiing count toward my outdoor exercise? I like to snowboard a lot and was wondering if I can count it as my outdoor workout?
According to Andy Frisella’s 12/20/22 75HARD Workout Ideas post, snowboarding/skiing is not inline with the programs guideline of a workout.
I find it weird to say a 45 min walk is exercise but not snowboarding. I am still going to count it for myself because I go significantly harder than your average vacation skier/snowboarder.
I would count snowboarding as the outdoor workout, nothing says you can’t wear gear when you’re outside.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on alternative storage solutions for outdoor gear
What are some of your favorite rack/stow systems for recreational activities(snowboards, skis, bikes etc.)?
Just get an RSI smart cap and throw stuff in your bed. Then you Don’t have to worry about it getting stolen
That’s what I did. Got a RSI similar bed cap and now I don’t have to worry about making a stop while on long trips. Yeah someone could break in if they wanted to but it deters smash and grabs or just people reaching in to take whatever they see
That’s kind of what I got now I have the mopar hard cover on the bed. Would just like an outside option for snowboards and a couple accessories. Nothing crazy.
Discussion on DIY ski and snowboard racks
I made a DIY snowboard/ski rack for the bed of my taco.
Honestly I need a better solution for the foam considering it will get pretty beat up fairly quickly over time.
Glad to see this one was appreciated.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on bibs vs pants for skiing
Would you all recommend bibs or regular ski pants and why?
Always bibs! I HATE powder skirts with a burning passion, bibs keep snow from going down your pants and add an extra layer around your core if you get chilly.
Bibs keep you drier and warmer. Only drawback is that they make it super annoying to take a #2.
Curious what you mean by that - I’m a female skier in market to switch to a bib.
Concerns over the reliability of modern snowmobiles
Part of the fun for me is wrenching them and enjoying how well they run.
Experiences with mistaken identity in ski gear
I think sometimes people just accidentally take the wrong skis.
Right then and there I vowed to put stickers on mine when I got home so nobody would mistake mine for theirs.
I still have the other guys skis today.
Anecdotes about stolen gear and security measures
My 12 year old mantras got stolen at the start of the year (now 13 yr). Found them on a random ski rack 4 hours later with my poles.
It was afternoon and I waited until the end of the day and no one grabbed them. So I was pretty confident it was just someone who grabbed the wrong skis.
Discussion on the effectiveness of roof boxes versus ski racks for theft deterrence
Do brand ski racks matter? Hey all, looking to get a ski rack for my telluride, ideally a system that I can lock the skis into to avoid theft and that will fit 6 skis.
I would reconsider a roof box. They hide your skis which is about the best theft deterrent you could ask for, you can also put poles in them.
Get one of those photon torpedo looking roof-top carriers - way more versatile than a rack.
Roof box every time.
