Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about board capacity and measurements
You could also probably fit some boots or other equipment in with the boards as well
Personally i don’t want to go through the hassle of removing bindings everytime, but your measurements and advice is much appreciated.
I carry my board, my wife's skis and my boys boards - it's just barely big enough to hold it all.
I have the Yakima skybox 16 in one of my cars and 4 boards fit in it easily.
Capacity for multiple boards and skis
We can fit 3 snowboard easy (mine is wide).
Discussion on mounting and compatibility with Rivian
Best Ski Rack for Rivian Hi all,
I have a yakima fatcat 4 that says it fits 4 sets of skis, and when installed it only takes up one side of the bed/crossbars and would be easy to fit a bike rack on the other side.
Get one that locks with the price you like.

Discussion about alternative storage options for skis/snowboards
Thule vs. Yakima Ski/Snowboard Mounts
Just curious, why don’t we store ski/snowboard in the trunk or gear tunnel?
My concern with ski racks is debris getting into my bindings and then the bindings not working correctly. I also use it for non ski trips in the off-season too. I went straight to the ski box when we started with the sport. Those things fit so much stuff and saves so much room in your car.
I’d just throw it in the bed of the truck
Discussion on alternatives to racks for transporting boards
Are snowboard racks worth it? I've recently bought a yakima fresh track 4 rack and I am considering returning it.
Alternative ski rack options mentioned
Alternative to a Thule or Yakama, it is easily removable, fits any car, and can be used for a wide variety of equipment (skis, snowboards, kayaks, etc.)
Discussion about alternative options for transporting gear
What are some of your favorite rack/stow systems for recreational activities(snowboards, skis, bikes etc.)?
Just get an RSI smart cap and throw stuff in your bed. Then you Don’t have to worry about it getting stolen
That’s what I did. Got a RSI similar bed cap and now I don’t have to worry about making a stop while on long trips. Yeah someone could break in if they wanted to but it deters smash and grabs or just people reaching in to take whatever they see
That’s kind of what I got now I have the mopar hard cover on the bed. Would just like an outside option for snowboards and a couple accessories. Nothing crazy.
Discussion on shifting board placement for better aerodynamics
Much better aerodynamics and safer.
I second this. Currently use this configuration on my setup.
slide the board back so it’s not just dragging in the wind.
Mine fits my 22-inch stance, but sometimes I have to shift a board back for friends with wide stances.
Mention of using ski racks for transporting skis in vehicles
Thanks! I am starting from scratch. In the past I've just been putting my ski's in the Sorrento with one of the 2nd row seats down.

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Debate on the effectiveness of ski racks vs cargo boxes
I am not aware of the ski rack vs cargo box debate.
Gives you more versatility and also keeps all the road grime off your gear.
Limited options for hitch ski carrying systems.
Trailer hitch rack? Picked up a new car and would prefer to go with a hitch based system rather than roof rack (garage height), any suggestions?
While I'm sure some other people make dedicated options for this, we only have options from Thule and Yakima for hitch ski carrying.
Discussion on cost-effectiveness of alternative racks.
Don't bother overpaying for the dumb specialized hitches.
Debate over roof rack compatibility with vehicle garage height.
My Yakima setup only adds like, four inches (from the crossbar).
Mention of a competitor's product for ski and snowboard carrying.
ALTA RACKS builds racks that carry bikes, Ski, and snowboards.
Need for crossbars to utilize racks
I'm open to everything from racks to a rooftop box like Thule or yakima.
Yes, you will need crossbars or a round bar like Yakima equivalent.
Discussion about crossbars for the Thule rack
Ski/Snowboard roof top rack I have a ‘22 Forester Sport and I want to be able to carry skis/snowboards on the roof.
Go with a cargo box.
I would echo the cargo box and it is worth the investment.
Standard ski/snowboard racks are nice since they’re easier to remove and store than a cargo box.
Discussion on alternative ski rack options
Get a set from rokiotoex . Half price but high quality.
Discussion about alternatives to ski racks
served us well on minivan for years as well as Outback OEM rack.
Concerns about the cost of ski transport solutions
The boxes look super expensive - wasn’t looking to spend that much.
Debate on the cost of ski/snowboard transport solutions
Seeking a recommendation on a roof rack for skis Subaru sells the Thule roof rack, but it's very expensive, at $380.
To be fair, getting cross bars for $380 isn't bad.
Discussion on aftermarket crossbars
Anybody have any aftermarket crossbars/snowboard racks that they recommend?
Better off going with Thule or Yakima towers and cross bars for stuff like kayaks etc.
For skis/snowboards you can't go wrong with the OEM crossbars.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about ski theft while using racks
super disappointed and hoping they turn up somehow.
Let us know if you get them back, hoping for your sake you will!
I’ve never left my gear unlocked since
they posted them on Craigslist like 2 days later
