Snoop's Take

The Tyger Auto TG-RK1B707B is a folding hitch-mounted ski and snowboard rack designed to fit both 1.25" and 2" receiver hitches. It can carry up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards securely, offering easy access and storage for winter gear. Consumer feedback highlights the rack's sturdy construction and rust resistance, with users noting that "they've held up great through salty winters." However, there are concerns regarding its installation process and design, as some users found it difficult to install and remove, stating, "it’s the next best thing to worthless, and again, it costs extra to be so." Despite these mixed reviews, many appreciate its capacity and security features, including dual anti-theft locks. Overall, the Tyger Auto TG-RK1B707B is recommended for those seeking a reliable ski and snowboard rack, particularly in regions with harsh winter conditions. Its durable build and user-friendly features make it a strong choice, though potential buyers should be mindful of the installation challenges.

Positive Feedback

Not sure about the snowboard attachment, but with bikes I have issues from time to time at chargers since I cannot back in close enough for the cable to reach.

In my garage. It’s not the most fun, but if you take your time, heat the bolts, and pay attention to what you’re doing then it’s not so bad.
I’ve done a couple, it’s never fun but it’s a task that I’m always willing to take on.
You could drill 4X new holes.
Concern about hitch rack and winter road salt spray
I’ve always felt like a hitch mount rack and winter road salt spray would be a horrible combo.
The basket design let's me put boxes up there for camping storage.

And don't get a 'hanger' style bike rack, get a 'set-on' style (like mine). You'll thank me later.
Definitely go with the hitch mounted rack, and as @NotDavidWooderson suggests, get one where the bike sits on a track rather than hangs.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Preference for roof boxes over hitch racks
reading some older posts about grime being worse on tow hitch mounted ones but having a hard time justifying a roof only setup as we probably won't use the crossbars/box for anything else.
nothing worse than having salt and grime hit your boards while you’re driving 70+ down the interstate.
I went from crossbars + clamp down racks to ski box and haven’t looked back since.
+1 for low profile roofbox. I have an Inno Wedge. I used to use traditional racks, having both Yakim
Discussion on different storage options for gear
im thinking getting a minivan is the move here. store all gear inside during transport and sleep inside with your gear at night
a thread on this (somewhat uncommon) topic every few years is probably not a bad idea
amazon has spoiled us with its ease of use and the amount of information provided by reviews
anyone know of any canadian brands?
Preference for roof-mounted solutions over hitch-based solutions
I've looked at the Yakima EXO Swing Base, EXO Top Shelf, EXO Snow Bank and EXO Gearlocker (for ski gear).
Planning to use it for our first ski trip this winter - if it works well then problem solved.
Discussion on protecting car paint with clear vinyl
It's the perfect width I just cut the length to size.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Preference for closed box carriers over open racks for flexibility
if you strap to the top, would definitely recommend using a closed box carrier versus the open snow ski/board racks.
Dislike for wind noise and gas mileage hit from roof storage
I dislike the wind noise and gas mileage hit I take from putting stuff on my roof.
