What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Easy to use with minimal interaction
Set it and forget it. Fill, plug in and walk away. No other interaction needed.
I really enjoyed the cup of coffee that their beans make in my percolator during the week as well.
Percolator coffee tastes better than instant coffee
Percolator coffee is sooo good too, especially if it's cold in the morning.
Easy to use for small groups
This is max 2 people. I used it everyday for my girl and I because it just works
Will it matter if I brew from this for 1 cup taste wise?
Basically yes, it's possible to brew a single cup from a 4 cup percolator. The secret is buying a larger cup!
Versatile brewing on different stovetops
My grandparents always made their coffee this way with a farberware perc, so when I began drinking coffee in college it seemed like the obvious brewing choice.
I like the electric one better.
Percolators provide richer flavor than modern coffee brewing methods
more and fuller flavor.
Percolators were probably standard issue in military facilities and since an entire generation ended up using them I guess they just stuck around.
Nostalgic value and fond memories associated with percolators
I have heard A LOT of old white people say stuff like "man, I miss my percolator."
Smooth and rich brew from percolator
My percolator 100% of the time gives a smooth rich brew.
This percolator takes the cake for my particular palet.
Ideal for entertaining guests
I have one too and I love making a pot when guests come over. It’s perfect for that!
Easy cleanup with basket filters
This makes cleanup so easy.
Enjoyable coffee experience with percolators
Count me in for the percolating bandwagon!
Easy to use for large quantities
It measures at 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 "cups" which I am assuming is 8oz (although there's no indication either way)
No clue, as my 2 percs are way smaller but a quick google found: 2.5 cups grounds for 40 cups of water (https://blacksmithcoffee.com/pages/brewing-info).
Versatile brewing for large and small groups
Any idea on the grind size? I’ve never ground for percolators.
Sturdy and simple design for brewing
It's my favorite method of coffee preparation.
Good flavor when using quality coffee
The aroma that fills the house when a percolator is bubbling? It is a good part of the taste being boiled off.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Coffee quality is not satisfactory for some users
I really wanted to like my percolator, but damn do I hate the coffee it makes.
It's just overall a bad way to make coffee.
Percolators are often misunderstood or confused with other brewing methods
Way too many people here are confusing percolators and drip coffee machines.
It’s also confusing because drip and pourover undergo the percolation process in brewing.
Negative opinions about the percolation process
Technology Connections actually has a really great [video](https://youtu.be/E9avjD9ugXc) on how percolators work and why they suck so much
Percolators often criticized for coffee quality
I feel like the Percolator hate was a 2nd Wave thing.
Percolators criticized for inconsistent brewing
I love moka pots. I have a ton of brewing methods, the only two that I dislike are the French press and the percolator.
Brewing process can lead to over-extraction
They put the water through the coffee at boiling temp (bad) and then continue to boil the brewed coffee (even worse) and brew for to long (You either get watery coffee or over extracted coffee).

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on plastic-free options for coffee brewing
I don't have to worry about the hot water melting plastic into my coffee anymore.
perculators are a pretty good plastic-free option for coffee at home.
Old school coffee brewing methods mentioned
We have the same old school one!
Discussion on using coarse coffee grounds with percolators
You have to use coarse ground coffee much like a French press.
Historical usage and popularity of percolators
I assume you mean as opposed to espresso; the percolator was the standard way of making coffee from the 19th century in the US and was gradually replaced by the autodrip machine as the latter became popular in the 1970s.
Percolators were also common for households because they were often used on a burner on the stove or set on top of the woodstove.
Cultural perceptions and naming differences for percolators
Unless you're in a country that calls a thing that percolates a percolator.
OP is Australian, they're talking about those drip things.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Method of brewing without coffee filters described
You don’t have to use a coffee filter, you put it straight in the metal cup thing, and it has a bunch of super fine holes at the bottom
Discussion on various coffee brewing methods
Oh my damn. Had moka pot coffee for the first time over Christmas. Hoooooooleeee Jesus. That's a baller ass cup of coffee.
Mention of alternative coffee recipes
Ever try butter or egg coffee, trust me, with a perk you would love it! God Bless those Swedes!!

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Consideration of different coffee brewing devices
I hadn’t considered one of those before. We use a steel coffee press, but that require two countertop devices. Cool.
Comparison of percolators with French presses and other methods
Percolated is definitely better than instant, but far from good.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on percolators vs other brewing methods
What percolators do you guys recommend?
Better to eat your coffee than brew it in a percolator.
Sure, a percolator could brew good coffee if it isn't used the way every user uses one, but they do use it that way so it brews bad coffee.
Yep, can make a good coffee with the right parameters!
Cultural perspective on percolators and modern coffee brewing
there just isn't a variety of "coffee percolator recipes" like there is for Aeropress or V60, and it doesn't require as much dialing-in as espresso, either.
Percolator vs. gas station coffee comparison
Literal dirt is better than gas station coffee.
Discussion about vintage percolators vs modern ones
The flavor is full bodied (although not as much as moka pot, but far superior to drip and pour over) , slightly smokey, and the brew is highly caffeinated.
Having found an old percolator at a thrift shop, circa 1920s, I was scouring the internet for information and found this.
Curiosity about the history and evolution of percolators
I have had trip coffee makers, and still something seems to be missing as far as that wonderful taste are they slowly stepped cup of coffee at its best.
