Percolator coffee is preferred over other brewing methods
My first time using a percolator to make coffee
Once we started using a perculator for coffee while we were camping we never went back. That's how we make coffee at home too. I'm our opinion perculator coffee is the best coffee.
Percolators! I've watched way too many videos on coffee, coffee grinders and coffee makers lately and one thing I'm starting to notice is that percolators are pretty much never mentioned.
>I still think the best coffee in the world is made using a percolator heated over a Coleman camping stove after freezing your ass off in a tent all night.

Harmonic Percolator // 5 transistors comparisons for Q1
Just did a small recording of my new harmonic percolator, and tried 5 different transistors.
What sort of roasts work best/worst, how does the coffee taste in general, what is a percolator's taste comparable to?
Suitable for making coffee for larger groups
I'm generally making coffee for 5-12 people and the percolator seems to be the least amount of fuss.
Best coffee maker for large groups.
Old style, 12-cup percolator on the stove or campfire Troop proven over decades.
Easy to clean with a filter
Easy to clean if you use a filter, but if not a good swish of water cleans it out.
Durable construction suitable for camping
Overall it's not that bad.
I've been using a version of this for camp coffee for years, it's best if you brew the coffee directly over the campfire coals.
Easy to use for fast coffee brewing
Put a tiny (tiny) pinch of salt in the grounds -that should help with bitterness.
Good for making coffee without electricity
It's always made good, strong coffee, needs no electricity (come in handy a couple of times), works on gas stoves, electric stoves, camping stoves and campfires.

Do not lose the glass knob or you will be an unhappy camper in the morning.

Percolators are one of the worst methods of making coffee for a variety of reasons but notably the overheat and over extract things.
In my experience, percolators over extract and overheat coffee producing some of the worst coffee I've ever tried.
Difficulty in achieving good flavor with percolator coffee
I've never had good percolator coffee, but allegedly it can be done.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Percolator popularity among older generations
>Since, all my siblings and I still use this method, though I don’t often hear about it from others my age (20s) or on this subreddit.
Here comes the percolator - My great grandmother's percolator still making coffee nearly 100 years later.
My 82 year old grandmother still has the one she got when she got married in 1956.
Both of my grandmothers had identical 50's percolators, and now I have one of them.
Popularity of percolators among older generations
Full disclosure... I have one and it's awesome.
Oh my god I want one so bad now
But they don't make them anymore.

Discussion about alternatives to percolators
Does it have to be a percolator? For single coffees I use an aeropress and for a larger group, a French press
Coleman makes a coffee pot that runs on the green propane canisters. That might work for you
An Aeropress would work for multiple people. Once the water is hot it's just about a minute or less to make each cup. IMHO much better than perk (or even French press).
Preference for coffee brewing methods
everyone who tried both agreed.
Discussion on coffee grind size for brewing
That is one hell of a coarse grind.
Agreed.. i think it should be finer.
That's as course as it gets.

Curiosity about electric vs stovetop percolators
Percolator Coffee I’m just curious if anyone still makes their coffee with an electric percolator.
It's just overall a bad way to make coffee.
Yes. I have a 30 cup electric percolator that I use for family events.
Curiosity about coffee brewing experiences
This. Any coffee is better than no coffee.
Curiosity about suitable camping coffee pots
So it must be stainless. No ceramic please
My only gripe is that the plastic piece on top wouldn't tighten that well after only a few uses.
I use a GSI french press. I really like it.
It has no brand marking on it but she works great.
