Snoop's Take

The Stansport Enamel Percolator Coffee Pot is a classic camping accessory designed to brew rich, flavorful coffee while enjoying the great outdoors. This 8-cup pot, made with kiln-hardened blue and white enamel, combines durability with nostalgic charm, making it a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts. Consumer feedback highlights its quick heating capabilities and the enjoyable coffee it produces, with one user stating, "Once we started using a percolator for coffee while we were camping we never went back." However, some users express concerns about the potential for burnt coffee due to the constant boiling process and the difficulty in achieving the perfect brew. Despite some messy cleanup experiences, many appreciate the traditional brewing method. Overall, while the Stansport Enamel Percolator Coffee Pot has its drawbacks, it is highly recommended for those who enjoy camping and prefer the rich flavor of percolated coffee, especially for those nostalgic for this method of brewing.

Percolator coffee is preferred for camping
My first time using a percolator to make coffee
Once we started using a perculator for coffee while we were camping we never went back. That's how we make coffee at home too. I'm our opinion perculator coffee is the best coffee.
Useful tip for maintaining coffee temperature
Useful tip: use a thermos mug instead of those aluminum camp cups.
Yeah it does lose heat pretty fast.

Useful coffee preparation tips for camping
Camping Percolator Tips? I’m going camping this weekend and just bought a Stansport percolator.
For a 9 cup percolator I use 36g of coffee ground pretty fine but not espresso fine.
Produces good coffee with coarse grind
I made some for my sister, a coffee connoisseur and she said it's the best she's had.
Only keep the heat just hot enough to barely boil.
Nostalgic for users familiar with percolators
My parents used to have one; I was fascinated as a kid watching this.
Parents used it for decades
My Dad still uses these to make coffee.
Convenient for outdoor settings
It's the best way to make coffee, especially in the outdoors.
Enjoyable brewing method for some
It's a great way to make coffee.

Difficulty in making good coffee
I've never managed to make a decent tasting cup of coffee using a percolator. ...am I doing it wrong?
Coffee can burn due to constant boiling
because the brewed coffee is being recirculated through the beans again under constant boiling temperature causing it to get burnt
the problem, as I see it, is that you recirculate the coffee already brewed under a consistent boiling temperature, causing it to get burnt
I noticed what you mention about the brewed coffee passing through the grounds repeatedly. I am not impressed.
Messy clean-up if not monitored
You really have no choice unless you want to clean up a huge mess after the boil over.
Risk of enamel flaking into food
Is this enamel pot still safe to use? Hey everyone, was wondering if this is still ok to use.
Unfortunately, I would advise against using it as its very likely that the costing will slowly continue to crack and/or flake off into whatever you cook in it.
For normal cooking I’d say no, don’t want to risk any of the enameling coming off into your food.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on the relevance of percolators today
Who still percolates their coffee?
I'd be doing a disservice not to link the excellent Technology Connections [video on percolators.](https://youtu.be/E9avjD9ugXc?si=dObMeSI4YKIsjzbU)
He is such a weirdo but a weirdo that matches with my own bizarre love for random old equipment and such.
The only person i know who even says percolating in normal speech is E-40
Preference for percolators for larger groups
I'm generally making coffee for 5-12 people and the percolator seems to be the least amount of fuss.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on coffee types and preparation techniques
Do you use a filter? How does it continue to perk off the fire? Does it still lightly boil?
Discussion on the use of alternative coffee makers
I'm currently using a cheapo enamel percolator that does the job but is not aging well.
Does it have to be a percolator? For single coffees I use an aeropress and for a larger group, a French press
Once the water is hot it's just about a minute or less to make each cup. IMHO much better than perk (or even French press).
Comparative discussion on brewing methods
everyone who tried both agreed.
Discussion on coffee brewing techniques
Percolator coffee should be ground much more coarsely than drip coffee.
Slightly more coarse than for French press

Sentimental value of percolators
My great grandmother's percolator still making coffee nearly 100 years later.
My 82 year old grandmother still has the one she got when she got married in 1956.
Both of my grandmothers had identical 50's percolators, and now I have one of them.
Discussion on cleaning methods for percolators
Easy to clean if you use a filter, but if not a good swish of water cleans it out.
Questioning percolator compatibility with induction ranges
Anyone know of any or where I could look for one (not Amazon, that's where I keep finding the ones that are not.)?

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Questioning the necessity of a percolator
Do these heat up better than say like a pot? I assume yes but also trying justify needing one

Is there an enamel paint to use in the pot ?
