Snoop's Take

The COFFEE BEAR Cold Brew Coffee Maker is designed to create smooth, less acidic cold brew coffee and iced tea with ease. Featuring a generous 1.3-liter borosilicate glass pitcher and a reusable mesh filter, this brewer simplifies the process of crafting delicious beverages right at home. Consumer sentiment highlights the convenience of the COFFEE BEAR for making large quantities of cold brew, with one user noting, "The cold brew this makes is fantastic." However, some users have reported challenges, such as the coffee coming out too strong or chalky with creamer, indicating that it may take some experimentation to achieve the perfect brew. Overall, despite some reported issues like leaking and sediment filtration, the positive feedback regarding flavor and convenience suggests that the COFFEE BEAR Cold Brew Coffee Maker is a solid choice for those looking to enjoy cold brew coffee at home.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Convenient for making cold brew
It’s impossible to make in 5 minutes but it takes about that much active work and then it’s ready in 12-24 hours
You're paying more than twice the amount of money just for convenience's sake.
Convenient for making cold brew in large quantities
It's hard to find good ratios since every single video or recipe I find says something different.
I like the 8-to-1 ratio.
The cold brew this makes is fantastic.

Coffee may come out chalky and grayish when creamer is added.
HELP WITH, Takeya Cold Brew Coffee maker. Advice needed Hoping I can get some help.
I once made cold brew with someone else's Takeya. I followed the instructions and didn't have that problem.
just replace it with a bodum bean. that cold brew device is trash
Great list. Dark Art in Hayama is my favourite. I highly recommend to anyone who is in the area. Sta
Coffee may come out chalky and grayish with creamer
It’s so smooth you don’t need sugar or other sweeteners.
I get an ok taste out of all of them, but it's not as good as Wandering Bear.
Cold brew really let's medium quality beans shine, really expensive ones probably would be a waste since there is less pronouncing on the various flavour components.
Ineffective at filtering fine sediments
When I tried the bodum brewer, it wasn’t able to filter out all the fine sediments effectively.
Retains odd plastic smell despite cleaning
It kept a very odd plastic no matter how I cleaned it.
Leaks at the spout
Mine leaks at the spout.
Coffee can come out too strong or bitter
The first time I used that much coffee for cold brew the coffee came out so strong and gave me the jitters, something I never get from coffee.

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about convenience in cold brew making
Most important factors, some blend of all 3: Easy/Fast (< 5 min), Quality Taste, Minimal cleaning ( < 5 min) (cost of coffee maker is not an issue)
I make it in 1 liter mason jars, basically just throw your desired ratio of ground coffee and water in there, leave it on the counter for a day or two, and then pour it through a paper cone to into another mason jar before storing it in the fridge.
Do this, but bring lots of cone filters. They will clog often. Pro tip: Rubber band the cone to the top of your second jar.
Great tasting cold brew can shine with just cream and maybe a pinch of salt.

Discussion about various cold brew makers
Best Cold Brew Machine I know this question has been asked before but most of the threads are from 3
Seconding here. Super simple. Reasonably priced. Only issue I have is the fact that I roast in small
I’ve had the oxo cold brew maker and been very happy with the results and the quantity I can make

Hmm, I wonder what the issue is
Discussion about making cold brew at home
Wow didn’t know a sub like this exist.
I put the grinds in a coffee sock, toss that in a food safe bucket with water at room temp for 24 hours.
I use a French press (Bodum brand off Amazon) and grind my own beans on the course setting.
Various methods for filtering cold brew
When you used the mason jar, how did you filter the grounds?
It was one that had a metal cone, you either fill it and soak or strain it through
Do you have to filter it after? Or does the oxo filter all the fines out well
You must buy small filters separately and I'd say it does a great job filtering everything out
Discussion about making cold brew at home.
The best way I found is using Nescafe GOLD Medium/Smooth instant coffee at home. It tastes better than the Starbucks iced coffee.
Experiences with making cold brew at home
This looks interesting, so you have to fit this thing in your fridge or let it brew at room temperature.
Cold brew can be made easily without a machine.
Any cold brew machines out there?? I have been searching for a while and have not found a machine that makes cold brew for you maybe I am missing them somewhere lol.
I think your missing the point of cold brew. It doesn’t require a machine or daily prep.
This is going to sound really weird but personally when I was making it 2 days in advance it created stress for me because I was always worried about the “lead time”, but now that I do 12 hour brews I find it the most convenient thing in the world.
I put the grounds into a French press, pop it into the fridge overnight, and in the morning just press down and BA-BLAM. Cold Brew.
Discussion about various cold brew brewing methods
For your grind size, would say its somewhere in between a pour over and French press grind size?
French press grind size.
Buy a filtron brewer. They’re around $40. You fill it up with 12oz coarse ground coffee, fill the water dripper to 3/4 and stick it in the fridge for 16 hours and then let it drain.
Try brewing at room temperature. I've only made cold brew a couple times now, but the instructions for my Toddy said room temperature for brewing and then store in fridge.
Using French Press for cold brew preparation
Never thought to do it in the French Press.
Let sit in the fridge overnight or longer

Discussion about ideal sizes for cold brew makers.
What is an ideal sized cold brew maker, and how long does it last? I'm thinking of buying one of those 30ish dollar cold brew makers from Amazon to save money.
I have a Toddy brewer set and a full batch lasts around a week.
A 1-quart (32 oz) cold brew maker is ideal for daily consumption. Concentrate lasts 7-10 days refrigerated.
Imo it depends on if you want to make a concentrate or not. personally I don't so I make it in a gallon batch which lasts me anywhere from 1-2 weeks depending on how much I'm drinking per day.
Discussion about experiences with different cold brew makers
I used a jar for the longest and got a free Oxo a year ago. It's really not a lot, and last forever.
Oxo continues to impress me. When I bought my brewer, my first batch just wouldn't drain.
It makes the perfect batch for me too, 12 oz of coffee, 48 ounces of water, and it makes a mixture that I dilute 1:2.
Ideal ratios for coffee to water in cold brewing
The secret trick I've found is to put a couple tbsp of vanilla extract in the beaker before draining; I dilute with water, so it makes a perfect 20oz travel mug of coffee after considering displacement from ice.
Total game changer without adding much in the realm of calories (if that's something you look at).
Japanese Ice Brew is my go to now; fast, flavorful, and minimal clean up.
Discussion about various cold brew makers.
How good is cold brew cleanse? I have been using Dr. Squatch soap for some time now.
Very gritty it had a good scent, I’m not even a fan off coffee.
Gritty from the coffee grinds I like the grit smell may not be all there but given it's coffee it's to be expected.
How I’ve managed to finance this habit for this long I have no idea.
Discussion about cost efficiency of cold brew
I'm fully on the Japanese iced coffee hype train. More economical than cold brew, easier to get recipes right and tastes better (imo).
Cold brew is VERY forgiving of cheap beans. That Folgers makes a fine cup at a substantial discount.
I yield around 8 gallons every batch, or 1024 ounces, or 128 8 oz cups of cold brew.
Doesn't the coffee ground absorb water too?
Discussion about cold brew ratios varies widely
Ultimately I'd say js mess around until you find what you like.
I just drink it straight out of the fridge with ice + half & half.
Personal preferences vary significantly in cold brewing
I do 3x what I prefer normally (which is somewhere in the 1:16 to 1:20 ratio... or recently 1:10 but we aren't going to discuss that).
