What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Versatile and convenient for lazy users
Overall I love mine, but I am little biased since I was the engineer behind it.
For $40, these things are simply remarkable.
Convenient and quick cold brew preparation
Recently I have found myself purchasing coffee every morning on my way to work and I realized that it's really starting to add up so I had my eyes on a few coffee makers but didn't really know where to start, then I saw this that this one was on sale and immediately purchased it because it had good reviews but now I'm second guessing myself lmao.
We just got one at the office a couple of weeks ago and love it so far.
It’s a great machine. Starts brewing almost instantly and makes hot coffee. I just got one and love it.
How is the iced coffee brewed? I always get just a black iced coffee, so I'm not looking at amount of syrup, cream, etc.
Cost-effective compared to coffee shop prices
So, i settled for a $20 Mr. Coffee brewer. I’m certain that after multiple daily uses, it won’t last more than a couple years.
Quick cold brew preparation
I am only beginning to learn the art of espresso but even I can tell you not to buy that one.
Tried out my new iced coffee maker today. Works very nicely
Looks just like my Mr. Coffee iced coffee maker! And you probably paid less than what I paid.
Decent iced coffee results reported
Anyone having luck actually making a decent iced coffee with this? All mine taste so watered down with no flavor.
It's been decent in my experience. Unless you've had good results in the past with the grounds you're using, maybe mix it up with a different one? Death Wish is pretty strong so maybe if you're willing to shell out the cash and experiment.
Love mine! Maybe bigger ice cubes? and I add 2 scoops of coffee grinds.
Suggestions for improving flavor
I would add in a pot full of ice underneath mr coffee and subtract the water you add to your coffee machine in total.
Easy to use and maintain
Extremely easy to use, filter pulls right out, no fuss.
I didn't realize how terrible my old machine was until I used this one.
Compact design ideal for small spaces
Its an amazing coffee maker for small places too.
Reliable performance over time
Mine is like.... Well it has a clock on it. That's the only feature.
It's actually been an incredibly solid machine.

Cold brew makers may not be worth the investment.
Cold brew coffee makers I'm thinking about getting a cold brew maker and the one I've been eyeing on Amazon is the Takeya 10310.
I personally wouldn’t spend the money on a specific cold brew maker.
No significant difference in cold brew quality between different methods.
I don't think there's that big a difference between what comes out of the oxo and what comes out of any cold brew system.
Potential question of value for investment
It was an impulse buy but for $20 I figured I’d check the reviews and decide on keeping it.
Temperature may not be high enough for optimal brewing
Probably sour, temperature won’t be high enough.
Quality and consistency may be lacking
If you buy this, I wouldn't expect much in terms of quality and consistency of espresso.
Iced coffee may taste watered down
consistently had watery espresso and regular foam (not microfoam).
Need better quality coffee for better results
Get a better brand of coffee that would be my suggestion
Quality may not meet expectations
There is a huge difference in coffee quality if you're drinking quality coffee.
Investing in a coffee maker can be costly
which leaves me to decide if I can swing $300 for a coffee maker.
Some people like a product with a proven 30+ year track record of quality, all the other brewers on that page were created within the past few years.
Some users experience leaks
$200 for the best coffee made at home that’s fast and convenient.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
User experiences with different cold brew methods.
I used a jar for the longest and got a free Oxo a year ago. Without a doubt, I would pay for the Oxo if I didn't get it for free.
Oxo continues to impress me. When I bought my brewer, my first batch just wouldn't drain.
They told me they have some customer satisfaction thing and it's covered. It makes the perfect batch for me too, 12 oz of coffee, 48 ounces of water, and it makes a mixture that I dilute 1:2.
I really like mine as well. I do a 1:4.5 ratio (12 oz of grounds to 54 oz of water); it nets me almost exactly 32 oz of concentrate.
Tips for enhancing cold brew flavor with additives.
I might need to try the vanilla move next time!
Discussion about alternative cold brew methods.
Could I get a similar effect from putting grounds in a tea style bag, then just putting it in a jar?
I’ve found it’s pretty fool proof.
User experiences with French press for cold brew.
As a barista of 4 years, I find that a french press works the best for at home cold brew
Discussion about brewing iced coffee at home
The coffee lands on the ice and the ice melts and cools down the coffee as it’s brewing.
Takes about eight minutes or so to brew and finish dripping.
then just start the brewing process. Takes about eight minutes or so to brew and finish dripping.
I always wondered why a large iced coffee, black, no flavors is 200 calories yet a large black hot coffee is 15?
User preferences for different brewing methods
I got a 5 cup with the stainless carafe for $20 at a consignment shop but the 8 cup goes on sale for $100 all the time.
Hell, you can still make great coffee even with a shitty coffee maker if you're using good fresh beans.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion about the convenience of cold brew makers.
Wow didn’t know a sub like this exist. I enjoy a nice cup of cold brew because of the low acidity and little to no bitterness.
I put the grinds in a coffee sock, toss that in a food safe bucket (mason jar in your case) with water at room temp for 24 hours.
I use a French press (Bodum brand off Amazon) and grind my own beans on the course setting using a Mr. Coffee grinder from Amazon as well.
Discussion about preference for non-pod coffee makers
I too am looking at this machine. I have the Keurig smart brew, but I’d prefer to stop using the pods.
Video resources for improving coffee brewing techniques
Here is a video James Hoffmann did about how to get the best out of those types of machines.
Discussion about coffee measurement techniques for Mr. Coffee
The ratio is 1:16 (grams) .. I heard [mr.coffee]'s cups arent the standar 8 oz, its more like 5 or 6.
Mr Coffee "cups" are 5 oz. So a 6 "cup" carafe can take 10 tbs coffee (30 oz water).
So I'd start with the 2 tbsp per cup (as measured by the carafe), then adjust to your taste.
2 and a half tablespoons of coffee to 12 fluid ounces (a cup and a half) of water.
Debate on value of expensive coffee makers vs. budget options
There's an objective difference between a $300 Technivorm and a $20 coffee maker from walmart, in both flavor and build quality.
Curiosity about coffee measurement for brewing.
I’m curious on the measurement though - I have been doing about 1 tablespoon scoop of coffee per cup of water, but you’re saying to do 2.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about the effectiveness of fast cold brew devices versus traditional methods.
Are any of the fast cold brew devices legitimate? I like to experiment and I also think I may have a mold issue in my house.
Don't waste your money. Just get a big mason jar (or other sealable container) and brew in the fridge instead of on the counter.
Best brew in town. So smooth I could start selling it.
They just agitate the water through the ground actively. They "work," but they're not going to be as good.
Discussion about coffee maker experiences
It's just a coffee maker but basically there's no heating element under the pot
I like really, really strong coffee, does it do that?
Discussion about the longevity of manual coffee makers
My French Press is over 20 years old. Cost me $30, and it'll last forever, as long as I don't drop it.
This is the post to pay attention to. Both of these methods will put any electric coffee maker to shame.
They aren't cheap, but a Technivorm Moccamaster is a BIFL coffee maker.
Manual pour over and kettle, quality espresso setup ($$ though), bunn style commercial brewer are the most bifl I can think of.
Discussion about difficulty making single cups with Mr. Coffee machines.
I'm 19 and just purchased some cafe du monde can of coffee, and I have a mr. coffee machine at home. However, I am at a complete lost as to how to make a single cup of coffee without making a whole pot.
I wouldn't use a coffee maker to make one cup. I'd use [one of these.](http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=coffee+dripper) and two tablespoons of grounds.
The problem with something like a Mr Coffee is that you can't really make just one cup of coffee with it, in general you wouldn't want to make less than half a pot of coffee in a batch brewer like that.
1 or 2 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee in a Mr Coffee per cup should do you. It won't be as good for sure as making it with one of the other methods recommended here, but if you insist on using an automatic drop, that's he best recipe to follow.
