Snoop's Take

The KitchenAid KCM4212SX Cold Brew Coffee Maker is designed to simplify the cold brewing process, allowing you to create smooth, rich coffee concentrate at home. With its sleek brushed stainless steel design and 28-ounce capacity, it fits perfectly in your refrigerator while providing up to 14 servings of delicious cold brew. Consumer feedback highlights the effectiveness of this coffee maker, with many praising its ability to brew rich flavors without sediment. One user noted, "Best brew in town," while others appreciated that it allows for easy strength adjustments and is simple to clean without the need for paper filters. However, some concerns were raised about coffee grounds making it past the filter and the potential for bitter or acidic brews if not prepared correctly. Overall, the KitchenAid Cold Brew Coffee Maker is recommended for those seeking a reliable and stylish way to make cold brew at home, though users should pay attention to brewing techniques to avoid common pitfalls.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Consistently effective brewing with proper technique
I believe grinding your own really will make all the difference.
Rich flavor and decently frothed milk
Results have been amazing with rich flavor and decently frothed milk.
Smooth cold brew experience
Best brew in town.
Convenient to use with easy filling
Thanks. Yeah I tried those but didn't love opening/filling/closing and if I use the bag it's easier to just throw it in a pitcher than use the KitchenAid.
Effective brewing with minimal sediment
There's basically no sediment, especially when compared to a fine mesh brewing bag which is what I used to use.
Effective brewing with proper ratios
I’ve tried it throughout the process and found this quantity of coffee, the amount of water, and brew time to be the sweet spot.
Mixing the concentrate was a life changer for me when it came to the viscosity feeling very watered down.
Just made a batch using them and it turned out great!
Convenient to adjust coffee strength
when I make cold brew I use a wooden spoon or something from my kitchen to ***gently*** stir the grounds after i've added water.
Easy to clean with no paper filters
Easy to clean. No paper filters.
Functions as both a coffee brewer and dispenser
It works identically to a mason jar and a spoon.

Coffee grounds making it past the filter
Anyone with the KitchenAid Cold Brew Maker getting coffee grounds making it past the filter?
I then decant the concentrate into a separate container but only open the spigot enough to let it slowly drip out.
Grainy taste due to coffee fines
grainy/thick (like you can taste a powder, not necessarily tasting coarse grounds though).
run my cold brew batch through a pour over with a filter. I prefer the chemex since it’s large and has a thick filter to remove oils.
Brew consistently turns out bitter and acidic
Add a small amount of salt to your brew. This will cut down on the bitterness, but don’t add very much.
Acidic usually means it needs more time. Bitter means you overdid it.
Water to coffee ratio. The water being used to brew.
Dilution ratios can lead to watery coffee
Sounds like you brewed it fine, but their recommended dilution was way too much.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on super automatic coffee machines
Comments on the new KitchenAid super automatics? (e.g. KF8)
It's VERY quiet and easy to use and go through the menus.
I’ve become a little lazy with my Barista Touch and somewhat envious of the ability to just push a button on a super auto.
The brewing unit is highly susceptible to the growth of bacteria and mold because glued on damp coffee ground provide a lovely home for them.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Mention of other cold brew makers
Best cold brew maker! I’ve tried some different methods like a cheese cloth strain, takeya coffee maker, and I’ve always been disappointed in the staining and the difficulty to clean.
Agree with the recommendation of the Oxo maker. It does a great job.
Oxo is easy to clean and makes good coffee.
I've found the simple Hario cold brew pot works great for me.
Discussion on various cold brew methods
how do you guys make cold brew? i wanna learn how to make cold brew coffee but theres a lot of ways
Simple is best.
I do 1:8 ratio with fairly coarse grounds in a French press.
Are any of the fast cold brew devices legitimate? I like to experiment and I also think I may have a

Mention of coffee preferences and brewing methods
Many of the employees were horribly addicted. I mean, to coffee, yes, but also nicotine, Mary Jane, and... More... Difficult substances, shall we say.
Uhm. If you make coffee that is so strong it makes people jittery, that is a THEM issue.
At work I used to be asked to make the teas and coffees occasionally, id always say no and people would be unhappy about it.
I was the first one there so they asked me to make it. Someone showed me how so I made coffee for everyone every morning.
Discussion on coffee grinding techniques
I get very clean concentrate using this method with the flavor being very much improved.
Discussion on cleaning difficulties
I bought a set of these that has made opening jars and other items much easier.
Thank you. It’s not the gripping that’s an issue it’s that the pieces are turning together so that they don’t unscrew.
Have you found anything that works?
There should be a piece of plastic that’s shaped like a wrench and it should be the same size as the ‘nut’ behind the spout/tap to help you keep in place and unscrew it.
Discussion about finding paper filters
my one issue is that even if I grind at maximum coarseness, I still get some sediment, especially in the first few and last cups.
Discussion on coffee brewing ratios and techniques
I just instantly added more water, so I’ll have to try it out!
Cups isn't hard. Its just difficult to compare volume to weight.
Cups change when talking coffee. A cup of whole bean coffee is different then a cup of ground coffee.
Discussion about price justification for cold brew makers
Works great
Comparison to other brewing methods and machines
So basically a jar with a spout and a mesh filter? Or am I missing something?

Cautionary Callouts

User experiences with other KitchenAid products
The KF8’s coffee quality rivals that of higher-end machines.
Personal anecdote about acquiring the product used
This is the best one by far. Easy to clean. Looks great. Very durable.
