Snoop's Take

The Facelle Stand Mixer is a versatile electric kitchen appliance designed for home bakers and cooking enthusiasts. With a powerful 660W motor and multiple attachments, it simplifies mixing, kneading, and various food preparation tasks. Users have expressed positive sentiments about its beautiful design and the efficiency of its stainless steel attachments. One user noted, "The attachments are why I use mine so much," highlighting the mixer’s multifunctionality. However, feedback also cautions against using the dough hook at high speeds, as it can potentially overheat the motor, with one user stating, "The dough hook should never be used above setting 2 or it can burn out your motor." Overall, the Facelle Stand Mixer is highly recommended for those seeking an effective and stylish kitchen mixer. Its strengths in design and functionality, coupled with consumer insights, make it a solid choice for both novice and experienced bakers.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Beautiful design and color of the mixer
I brought a kitchenaid stand mixer back to life
NICE!! At first I didn't think I was going to like the glitter paint, but after that clear, WOW! That really made it pop.
Dough hook performs best at speed 2
Lots of recipes call for higher speeds but that's not how these mixers were designed to work.
I have been using mine for around 23 years and I make bread a couple of times a week. I have never felt the need to go higher than 2.
The dough hook torque is extremely hard on the motor at higher speeds, plus it can overwork and overheat the dough, and also it can cause the mixer to "walk" off the counter.
Stainless steel attachments are durable
Stainless and ceramic coated attachments are fine in the dishwasher.
Wait wait wait can you explain a green pad?? My bf put one of my cake pans AND a jelly roll sheet into the dishwasher and I want so badly to restore them!!
Mixer has a strong motor for dough
I do hear the motor straining a little at the higher speeds.
Variety of attachments enhances functionality
I use mine a lot and i basically only use the attachments not the bowl haha.
The attachments are why I use mine so much.
Attachments are the answer for us.
Mixer is effective for various tasks beyond baking
I shred chicken with mine quite often.
We use the meat grinder for burgers. Super good.
Effective for various tasks beyond baking
I like mixing dough!
Dough hook should be used at low speeds to avoid motor issues
The dough hook should never be used above setting 2 or it can burn out your motor.
Mixer can resume functioning after cooling down
Heat and smell indicate it’s working too hard, not that it’s broken (yet).
Mixer is efficient and powerful for kneading dough
The mixer is a lot more efficient and powerful than you are, so if it says to knead something for 10 minutes by hand, it would usually be a half the time or so in the mixer.
I rarely knead by hand. I used a kitchenaid artisan mixer for years. Unless a recipe stated otherwise, I would run it on medium for kneading.
5min on low and 8min on medium does the trick for me. Then I finish my hand only if it needs another minute or two.
I only use the dough hook to knead for 3-5 minutes, until the bowl is pretty much clean of any dough and I never knead by hand.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Attachments may react poorly in dishwasher
Don't put that whisk or any other attachments with aluminum hubs in the dishwasher!!!
Don't put the attachments in the dishwasher, hand wash only.
Mixer can stall at higher speeds
Mine will stall if I mix dough on speed two.
Attachments often require hand washing
Eh, the attachements are often hand-wash only which makes using them a real chore
I just don't like having to wash it by hand afterwards lol.
Mixer can overheat when used on higher settings
Does my stand mixer need repair? It gets smoking hot and smells like the motor is burning on the #3 setting with bread dough
Long-term use may require maintenance, such as replacing grease
You may have done some wearing down of the gears and may also need to replace some grease.

Question about mixer features
Whats the mixer with the lines across it for?
Discussion about how dough forms with different recipes
Dough hook never forming ball I've tried to add more flour to recipes but recipes that show a dough ball form in other KitchenAid stand mixers isn't forming in my bowl lift version! We did the dome test already but see video! Help!
How the dough forms will depend on the recipe. Brioche dough, high in butter, eggs, and sugar, if it's a sweet dough, won't form a ball. If you can put the recipe up, experienced bakers will be in a better position to advise you.
Agree! With the recipe the OP is using, the dough seems to have high hydration (there’s nothing wrong with the recipe, some dough uses high hydration) and it’s not going to form a ball on a this Kitchenaid mixer on speed 2 with the spiral hook, but it does not mean its not kneading well, and it doesn’t mean you could ramp up the speed just because it’s not forming a ball, stay at Kitchenaid’s recommended speed 2 when using the hook.
Our multi-grain 77% hydration bread dough always looks like that. We just knead it until it will pass a window pane test, then oil up our hands and work surface, scrape it out of the bowl and then preshape it for its 1st rise. It's a little difficult to work with but not too bad if we use a little oil. Bread turns out wonderful.

I always finish it by hand.

Importance of reading the manual for proper use
Yup! I actually read the manual and it says run on speed 2 only.
Tips for maintaining aluminum attachments
Thanks!! I ended up watching some videos on it and it seems like Bar Keepers Friend is a better choice, as the abrasive pads can leave scratches behind.
If you are worried about scratching, pick one that says nonscratch, and use it with a bit of barkeepers friend.
Discussion about how often people use their mixers
People who say they use their stand mixer nearly every day: what are you doing with it?
Discussion on the value of affordable stand mixers
Are any of the affordable options worth it? With Christmas around the corner my sister's bf suggested gifting my sister a stand mixer since she does not have one.
I would not purchase any other stand mixer. The motors don't have the torque, and the light weight models also have a tendency to literally walk off the counter at high speeds.
What kind of stuff does she make? If it's heavy doughs like bread you'll likely need a more expensive one with a better engine.
If she's making breads then I'd definitely go with something like a Kitchenaid. The other nice thing about Kitchenaids is that when the do break, they can be fixed.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Baking as a therapeutic activity
Thinking cinnamon rolls will be the first item I try with this! I’ve started baking a lot from scratch this past year.
Humorous takes on washing dishes by hand
Doing dishes by hand, the horror! I just can't 🤣
Heh. I remember when a younger cousin visited my (then new) house for the first time and was absolutely horrified by my lack of dishwasher.
Discussion about the limitations of domestic mixers for dough
Recently got a Hamilton Beach mixer that I'm thoroughly disappointed with.
KA's weakest point is definitely bread / pizza doughs.
I wonder if they're all made in China and someone is selling their OEM version.
If you're mixing dough once a month, a KA is enough.
