Snoop's Take

The HK Army Paintball CTX Knee Pads are designed to offer optimal protection and comfort for paintball players. With features like high-impact padding and a breathable design, they ensure that players can perform at their best while minimizing knee injuries. Feedback from users indicates a strong appreciation for the knee pads' protective qualities, as one reviewer noted, "They're BUILT for exactly what paintball is, non-stop knee pounding lol." Many users also mentioned the comfort level, stating that the pads feel great during intense gameplay, providing essential support. However, some users raised concerns about potential restrictions in movement, particularly for those sprinting during matches, and others pointed out the need for durability improvements. Overall, despite some criticisms, the HK Army Paintball CTX Knee Pads are highly recommended for players seeking effective knee protection and comfort during gameplay, making them a solid choice in their category.

Lots of protection and never move around.

Positive Feedback

I would never wear that style because it just takes one shot to find that vulnerability, and you will injure your knee.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
High level of protection
Lots of protection and never move around.
Comfortable to wear
Yes HK kinda sucks. But they make good knee pads so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
The bottom edge is exactly what is killing me. It's like the stitched end is rolled over to be the contact point to dig into my leg.
High comfort level
it’s like I’m kneeling on a cloud! I love them and second this!
these act like a compression brace along with a supportive, slim kneepad. Worth every cent
Offers good padding
I think the HK Army ones look like they offer more padding.
Improved durability compared to past products
My hk zero g podpack looks good as new but my tank butt ripped on my second outing.
Provides effective protection for knees
the dye pads feel so good in terms of protection
They're BUILT for exactly what paintball is, non-stop knee pounding lol
Good knee protection
Breaking in knee pads I have a pair of Dye kneepads and they work great and offer great protection.
Durability over time
My HK pads are the only ones that have lasted more than a single day.
Decent overall quality
It’s just cool to hate on HK but they make some decent products.
Good fit for knees
Hell, they basically look brand new.
Pads are comfortable to wear
The knee pads work great! very comfortable

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Potential vulnerability to injury
I would never wear that style because it just takes one shot to find that vulnerability, and you will injure your knee.
Pucks seem to find the weak spot in protection.
Restricts leg movement when sprinting
As a front player they restrict my leg movement too much when sprinting off the break.
Poor durability history
HK Army soft goods have a history of having poor durability.
May restrict leg movement when sprinting
that's one of the reasons I recommend volleyball knee pads, they're meant for people who are jumping in the air and landing hard on their knees on hard-ass gym floors.
Knee pads cause discomfort by biting the back of the leg
knee pads that bite the back of your leg
Comparison with other brands shows HK Army lacks
I didn’t hate mine.
Itches and discomfort from straps
Still, I refuse to forego knee pads.
Overpriced compared to alternatives
I don’t buy the HK ones because I feel they are overpriced and any other adidas jogger in sale would do the trick

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about HK Army's branding and market positioning
they are coasting on their early day vibes and selling mostly poorly made products with designs that are particularly appealing to teenagers and people who unironically use the word “agg”.
Discussion about protective gear options
also if I am medium size for the dye elbow pads should i get large on the hk army pads?
NEVER buy protective gear blind.
Inquiry about specific characteristics to look for in knee pads
Good (and if possible affordable) knee pads for iai ?
Discussion about returning to paintball gear after a long time
Almost 20 years ago, I was a big fan of the NXe arm pads, and then about 10 years ago, a big fan of the Gi Sports produced pads.
exalt free flex
And if you want something with a little less protection but also less bulk there are also the Exalt T3. That’s what I run and I’ve been happy.
Dye makes my favorite arm pads, even though I have a couple different kinds I usually put on the beat up dye ones

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about alternatives to paintball-specific knee pads
They actually absorb impact extremely well instead of transferring the shock to your joints.
Pads, cleats, and gloves are three things that people should look elsewhere for instead of buying paintball branded ones imo.
Discussion about alternatives to knee pads
Although my wallet did notice.
With G3 pants I no longer have the issue.
Look at crye g3s or uf pro pants

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion about external knee pads suitability
External knee pads that don't suck
I have found elbow pads are really unnecessary, never really needed them.
Worked constructing in the past so my expectations are realistic as far as them staying in place.
The bumps really kill your funny bone.
Discussion about alternative brands
Currently looking at the hk army ctx since i have the sliding shorts and i was impressed with them.
Hydra kneepads. Best kneepads you can get.
I have the Crbn slider pants with knee pads built in and I have some JT pants that have a bit of padding and more resistant fabric on the knees.
Another vote for Hydra. They just… work.
Discussion about alternative knee pad options
Volleyball knee pads are good
Been using the Hydrafits from PBFit. More like a volleyball knee pad and offers some stability as well as nice cushioning
I’ve been trying to find a perfect form of base layer padding to wear and right now I’ve found my perfect combo: generic padded soccer goalkeeper pants.
Comparison with other brands
Almost all elbow pads are very very similar..... Exalt, HK, Undr, Eclipse, etc..... Pretty much everyone except Dye.
They are still in great condition and have always worked for me.
Discussion on sizing recommendations
I’ve owned Dye c3s for idk how long and never have I ever heard of a break in period or this “stretch to fit” stuff.
I bought ones that were true to size. They were slightly too tight when new and broke in nicely after 3 or 4 wears.
General sentiment about HK Army products
I like my HK Army pads but if there is something better I'm all for it.
Discussion on personal preferences for knee pads
This, I’ve been wearing volleyball kneepads for years!
Recommendations for alternative knee pads
For kneepads use 187 killer pads HK for everything else
Got a specific 187 you would recommend?
I use the CRBN knee pads with paintball joggers. Don’t get hardshell kneepads.
Discussion about wearing knee pads under or over pants
they do slide on under your pants, so if your planning on wearing them on the outside your better off with something plastic like the other guy said.
Discussion about cleaning arm pads
Are they safe to put in the laundry machine?
Discussion on wearing knee pads under jogger style pants
Jogger style pants and knee pads underneath? I’m wondering if any of you can give me some insight on whether you can wear knee pads under newer jogger style pants such as HK freeline/valken phantom/bunker kings supreme v2?
IMO, you could get them on without too much of a tight fit.
They're awesome. A little roomier in the legs than other jogger fit pants but still very lightweight, not to baggy.
Discussion about jogger fit pants compatibility with knee pads
Currently use regular HK jogger pants and they're kinda tight on me.
I love my Empire Neoskin slide shorts. The kneepads are built in, so they're not moving all over the place.
I’d personally recommend the HK Hardline pro pants, they’re worth the extra money and I wear large dye knee pads under them without issue.
Currently I'm wearing the BK supreme V2 pants and they fit perfect with my knee pads without being too bulky.
Discussion on personal preferences for knee pads including alternatives
Volleyball knee pads are perfect
I find volleyball ones to thick and would make it so you sit more on you feet.
Knees are great but my thigh muscles and tendons in both legs were screaming the next day and still are.
Discussion about sizing challenges for knee pads
Calling All The Big Fellas What elbow/ knee pads are you guys going with?
Mention of alternative brands for knee pads
Colt Luckau (PBFit) wears Hydra (and owns the company to be fair) if you need big guy reference.
+1 for hydra knee pads
They also feel like knee sleeves and give me more support than other ones.
Discussion about necessary gear for returning players
I’ve purchased a 180r a “carbon zero sld more” mask, ninja lite 68 4500, pods, a hk army zero g pod pack 4+, virtue spire 5, and hk army free line jersey and pants.
Hk slide shorts. Padded cup and thighs
Shock doctor and air cup
Hydra Knee pads. Tylenol. Stretch before you play

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about product reviews and experiences
Again, I recommend you get a new product for you, from Sarah/PAW and then revisit this as it's just not a fair review to her.
looks like a lot of people are offended you used a non-new product for your review for some reason, are they also upset about your other used product reviews or just this one? if so, why?
General discussion about knee pad experiences
Always, always, always wear knee pads.
I use the CRBN ones and I can tell you that it is the best purchase I made this year.
Break-in experiences with knee pads
once they are fully broken in will fit just the way I want them to with no sliding around.
Consumer experiences leading to recommendations for other brands
Get a planet eclipse gun if you’re looking for reliable.
They definitely market themselves as being a good brand for beginners and I bought into that marketing, only listening to direct opinions from people I play with from now on.
Discussion about HK Army's reputation and past
I’ll try my best to summarize it here. It’s too good not to share.
Shocked that HK Army is still a thing. Knew about it when I played paintball in the early 2000s and pbnation.com was the place for all things paintball.
I agree the language is a bit dramatic, but Nazi is in this case directly accurate.
This was Nazi shit, accurately described.
Concerns about HK Army's branding and associations
FUCK. THAT. SHIT.
