What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Cam lock feature is essential for standard use
Being able to lock the cam is essential in standard use scenarios
The petzl partner is only a few dollars more, and swivels open. I carry a petzl partner and micro traxion in my kit
Useful for various rescue scenarios in climbing
Most can be done with the nano as well but having to hold it open makes the operation much more cumbersome and one hand is blocked
Lightweight and compact design
Pulleys Has anyone tested out using the DMM Pinto pulleys for rescue? It seems like no one talks about them outside of arborist work, but having two rated contact points seems like it could be useful.
I keep pulleys in mine. I’ve been using the micro traxion for a while and it’s great.
Deciding between a Petzl Purline or Rad Line Looking for a 60m or 65m tag line for winter alpine/ice climbing for use with a Beal Opera, largely living in a pack unless needed to bail. I also have double ropes.
Chiming in on the PUR line, I have one and have used it for rappels on spring/summer alpine climbs. It is exceptionally slippery and needs to be managed with a decent bit of care because it will turn into a rats nest pretty quickly.
Ball-bearing pulley increases efficiency
the microtrax also has a ball-bearing pulley, which I assume increases the pulley efficiency relative to the RollNLock.
Micro Traxion is a better device overall
If I was to do it again I would get the microtrax, it’s pretty much all around a better device.
Widely used and trusted by climbers
many, many use petzl
Micro Traxion is great for crevasse rescue
Crevasse Rescue Kit? Do y'all have pulleys in your crevasse rescue kit? They add significant ease to hauling but one can get by without them.
The micro trax helps when doing an easy rescue where a 2:1 is enough.
Efficient for hauling in rescue scenarios
I find it super efficient.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Petzl ProTraxion is effective for load handling
Petzl ProTraxion is an awesome progress-capture device - load goes up, but won't go down, unless the brake is manually released.
Discussion about functional differences between pulley types
Question about pulleys Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I was wondering what the functional difference was between a swivel pulley (ex:petzl partner) and one with fixed sides (ex:DMM Pinto).
Fixed side plate pulleys can be easier to install, but require oval (or otherwise self-centering) connectors. Swinging pulleys can be used on asymmetrical connectors.
I watched a prospective level 3 fail because he assumed that the fixe pulleys are more efficient.
Functionally the provide the same purpose. Depending on what you're doing yes there are times where a swivel can help with making the path of the traveling rope better but there are times where a fixed(swivel-less) pulley helps maintain better control.
Discussion on the importance of pulleys in rescue kits
FWIW I’ve had a couple real crevasse falls and stemmed out of the first and jugged out of the second.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about using GriGri for highlining
Anyone using Petzl GriGri in a highline pulley setup? Any other recommendations are appreciated.
The new GriGri's are not ideal due to the short lever, the old ones are a bit better.
Yes you can but you should still soft point the line.
No one uses pulleys for highlining anymore.
Discussion about pulley effectiveness for DIY setups
I'm curious to try climbing pulleys, but buying a couple of those will at least set me back 50 bucks.
Just buy whatever is cheap.
Your time is probably better spent actually doing the workout to get to a single pullup than by building a pulley system.
Cheap climbing pulleys will not perform noticeably better than cheap hardware store pulleys.
Discussion on pulley rigging techniques
While I really like my system... it's impossible for me to get good tension by myself.
wait, so if you are going to buy 2 extra pulleys, why don't you just add it in the system like in the BC article? why would you want to have extra friction afterwards?
What he is proposing is actually more efficient than the 9:1 in the Slack Science article.
The only reason I can give to take the second set of pulleys out of the main system is to reduce weight.
Discussion on using Petzl Gri-Gri in a closed loop system
While it will definitely work (the Petzl Gri-Gri belay device is used in sport climbing and can be utilised as a progress capture device in an emergency rescue situation).

Discussion about gear compatibility with Petzl products
Hello, it’s my first kit!
Seems you enjoy their gear and if you end up with something like a chicane, it will only accept Petzl H frame carabiners afaik.
The button could easily be pressed by a branch or something and open up.
the hydra is designed for this purpose.
Advice on using the Micro Traxion in climbing setups
the gear is still all good for a more traditional SRT ascent, just take that micropulley and use it for tending slack on your flip flipline
for the RADS/yoyo setups, yes. but I was speaking about regular SRT, where the climbline comes down from the tree and the highest thing on it is the hand ascender
Recommendations for additional climbing gear
you'll enjoy the 'SRT series' to start with I think! Also maybe it was just not mentioned but you're reallllly gonna want to get at minimum get an ankle/foot ascender
A saka folding knee ascender is probably cheaper then what you spent on these 3 piece of gear.
Discussion about preferred brands for slings and pulleys
Just wondering what you guys recommend for slings and pulleys for tower rigging work?
Comparison with other similar devices
I'm reaching out to this knowledgeable community to get some real-world feedback on these two devices.
I personally own the SPOC and I don't have any issues with it yet.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Durability concerns regarding pulleys
Didn't see much use as a pulley short of hauling a wind blown rope out of a tree.
Discussion about gear preferences for climbing
Having an efficient pocket ascender/rope grab gives me a little extra confidence.
I hate waiting for people to wind up their cordellettes before they climb every pitch!
There's smaller, lighter belay options with passive locking features.
