Does this look like a job for crampons or micro spikes?

Discussion on the weight and versatility of microspikes compared to traditional crampons.
They have shorter spikes than real crampons (which makes them more versatile and easier to use, plus they work with regular trail shoes or boots).
Youre looking for Grödel. Which is simply the German word for microspikes but the guys at the store will know what to show you.
Microspikes get dull, especially if you're on a mixed alpine route where you'll be walking on snow/ice/rock with them.

Concerns about the suitability of crampons for heavy boots.
Having used them for years I can confirm those fears.
Sounds to me like microspikes might ne appropriate for this hike
It depends on the type of hike and Snow/Ice you will be encountering.
If you want something more aggressive than microspikes, you can look into the Kahtoola K10 of KTS.
