Snoop's Take

The Cimkiz Crampons Ice Cleats are designed to provide superior traction on icy and slippery surfaces, making them essential for outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, and fishing. They feature 19 stainless steel spikes per foot and a durable thermoplastic elastomer construction that ensures safety and ease of use in various conditions, including icy trails and snowy terrain. User feedback highlights the crampons' lightweight design and effective traction, with many praising their performance: "They are amazing otherwise. So light." However, some users noted issues with the straps coming loose during use and suggested that they may not be ideal for steep icy terrains. Despite this, the crampons are recognized for their good performance on packed trails and varying conditions, making them a versatile choice for outdoor enthusiasts. Overall, the Cimkiz Crampons Ice Cleats are recommended for casual to moderate use in icy conditions, especially for those seeking a lightweight and portable option for hiking and outdoor activities.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Good packability and lightweight design
There is a gap between the strap and the arch of my boots, as is standard with crampon bars and boot soles.
Weight is definitely a factor which is why I don't really want to go with crampons.
My friend had some $20 ones and they lasted about an hour.
Effective traction on various terrain
I use harfangs a lot in the winter for ski mountaineering objectives and haven't had any issues with loosening besides during the initial break-in period.
I have the Harfang Alpine and never had a problem with the straps coming loose.
Durability of metal chains
Often people upgrade to [Microspikes](http://kahtoola.com/product/microspikes/) for a bit more bite and more durability (no plastic underfoot).
Good traction on icy and packed trails
I've used microspikes before. They are really good relatively flat ice, packed down trails, and low-angle consolidated snow.
Lightweight design for ease of use
They are amazing otherwise. So light.
Considering ditching the crampons in favor of microspikes, or adding them to have all my bases covered.

Good traction on icy surfaces
We didn't need them last week, but I was very glad we had brought them because if it were 1 degree colder, they would have been an absolute necessity!
Those are “shoe chains” imo and are more for hiking or blue collar outdoor work.
Effective for varying conditions
your Cimkiz "crampons" are microspikes. Microspikes is just a specific brand name, it's like Kleenex vs tissue paper.
Effective traction on icy terrains
Would you recommend this style (with chains and spikes on the sole)

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Straps come loose during use
All of them have slipping problems.
Not suitable for steep icy terrain
Not really recommended for steep icy terrain where front-pointing is required, but you can run fast on low angle ice & rock with them and climb steepish snow with more ease, mobility and much less work than big boots and crampons.
Unless everything is frozen solid (and is going to stay frozen during your hike) at a minimum, Trail/ Hiking Crampons like the KTS or K10 should be used.
Not needed in milder conditions
I carried it around just in case.
You won't need anything as intense as crampons.
