Snoop's Take

The Hamilton Beach 6-Speed Electric Hand Mixer is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for mixing a variety of ingredients with ease. Featuring six speeds, a QuickBurst button, and a range of attachments, this hand mixer is suitable for both simple tasks and more complex recipes. Consumer feedback highlights its effectiveness for light doughs, with one user noting, "Works better than my stand mixer in my opinion." However, concerns arise regarding its performance with heavy doughs, as some users reported issues with burning smells when overloaded and rusting within a few years. Overall, while it excels in specific applications, it may fall short for more demanding recipes. Considering the mixed reviews, the Hamilton Beach Hand Mixer is recommended for those looking for a budget-friendly option for light mixing tasks, but not for heavy-duty use or long-term durability.

I used the cheapest hand mixer a few times when i started out with bread making and it works just fine.

Positive Feedback

None effective. Unless some of the high end mixer I see, $100+, AND you can hold on to it, I don't see any of them doing anything like remotely working with bread dough.

Not suitable for heavy bread dough
None effective. Unless some of the high end mixer I see, $100+, AND you can hold on to it, I don't see any of them doing anything like remotely working with bread dough.
Burned smell when overloaded
The smell persists while in use then a winding has burned and will continue to burn out until it creates a dead short and the mixer will likely get very hot and/or trip breakers.
The motor's insulating system will continue to deteriorate when under an excessive load and when run for a lengthy on time without adequate time to cool between duty cycles.
Product rusts within a few years
It rusted within 3 years. My old Phillip one lasted 15 years.
Not suitable for frothing milk or making milkshakes
So I understand that the Hamilton Beach you've linked will not be suitable for frothing milk and making milkshakes, but it will be fine for the other things I've mentioned?
Correct. Get a blender for milkshakes.
Limited use for certain recipes
It would be nice if it can also mix milkshakes (with ice cream).
Burning smell at high speeds
Looking for a stand mixer, vintage maybe? The only Mixer I ever had is a cheap Hamilton Beach hand mixer I received 4 years ago as a Christmas gift shortly after I married.

Stand mixers are more versatile but less accessible due to space.
If you have the space for it and don't want to hold a mixer, get a stand mixer.
Personal experiences with stand mixers emphasizing their utility.
A godsend for cookies.
I find its the ideal set up because i use the handmixer often, and the stand rarely, but I wouldn’t make cinnamon rolls as often without it, but I would rather not have to take a whole stand mixer out of the cabinets for whipping some cream.
Hand mixers are a common choice for home bakers
I give up and want to replace it with something that actually does the job.
I don't think you can expect good results on bread dough with a hand mixer, but Black & Decker and KitchenAid both have good ones for the other uses you mention.
It’s not exceptional but it does its job.
Hand mixers are suitable for simple tasks
Help! What hand mixer should I buy? I need a hand mixer for my kitchen (I'm a college student slowly trying to collect for myself a full kitchen - cheaply) and I've been looking at refurbished KitchenAid hand mixers.
Second this! I’ve had my very basic HB mixer for 8 years, use it weekly, and it still works great.
Kitchenaid mixers have a long lifespan
I've had a kitchenaid hand mixer for 10 years now, and it's still going strong!
My KitchenAid hand mixer is 30+ years old and going strong.
