Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
General discussion about hatchet reliability
Suggestions on good hatchet I’m in need of a reliable hatchet at a decent price, figured you guys would be the best on reddit to ask.
For my money, I've never had one better than the Estwing. Solid, holds an edge, nice hardened leather grip, and solid enough to baton wood easily.
I have an estwing too. Different variant - has a sledge hammer on the back of the head and a tent stake pull built in.
The rubber handle version is ergonomically better if you’re going to use it a lot.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
General discussion about camping axes
Good camping axe? Any recommendations on camping axes that will hold up to regular use?
fiskars anything. really the best option for price point. just gotta sharpen em occasionally, i got a 400/1000 grit block i use on my hatchet and maul that works great
Gränsfor Bruk makes great axes! My partner uses the Scandinavian Forest Axe. Pricey but very reputable, gorgeous, and reliable. Council Tool also makes reliable axes. But if you don't have a preference, you may want to start with a cheaper axe and get a feel for what you like first.
Something from a hardware store with a hickory handle. Wood diffuses vibration from getting to your hands, and the handle can be replaced if it’s ever damaged. Estwing, Council, Husqvarna, Hultafors, Granfors, they are all good.
General discussion about the utility of inexpensive hatchets
Should I buy the $12 harbor freight hatchet? Yes I know it's not super nice.
It may not look as pretty as my hultafors axe, but it surely gets the job done.
Buy it and if it breaks you learned something for $12. That's an excellent spending of money imo.
A 12 dollar harbor freight hatchet uses better steel than humankind used for 99% of all history. You’ll be good lol.
General discussion about naming axes
I have a kobold, named CHUCK HUCKS(in all caps allways), that specializes in throwing axes.
As a language model, I am not capable of imagining myself as a kobold named CHUCK HUCKS or naming axes.
Each of the 20 axes is a diferent dice roll, and stephanie is the 20.
Oh, you ask why I use Bleh? Well, she was the first axe I ever threw, and nothing will have us part... although I admit nowadays she more resembles a throwing hammer than an axe.
General discussion about axe-throwing venues
Anyone been to either Bury the Hatchet or Hatchet and Hops? Any recommendations on one over the other?
I'm still in awe that giving people high ABV beers and axes has been a viable business model
Bury the Hatchet is a blast. Never been to Hatchet and Hops.
You can BYOB, it was really fun.
