What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Reasonably priced for sport climbing
CAMP Orbit quickdraws are usually reasonably priced and have worked great for me for sport climbing.
Snag-free carabiners improve usability
Having a snag-free biner is awesome for when you extend it.
Carabiners with a nose angle more like the nano 22 are easier to clip/clean from bolts and easier to unclip the rope from.
Clean nose design aids in easier cleaning
keylock on bolt side for easier cleaning. Nose hook on rope side for lower chance of accidental un-clipping.
Affordable option for beginners
If anyone is on a tighter budget and is willing to wait for a sale on some cheap but solid quickdraws, every so often on amazon The Gear Coop puts a 5-pack of camp wire gate quickdraws on sale
Good usability with wire gate design
Spirits are awesome. If you are a wire-gate guy though OP I would get the BD Livewires.
Ideal length for multipitch climbing
They significantly reduce rope drag compared to the usual 12cm draws with almost zero handling downsides.
Shorter draws can be too short for some climbers
And the short ones are too short
17s are nice to have.
Good value for beginner climbers
Quickdraws don't really change much in usuage.
Reputable brand
for sport climbing, get any mid-range quickdraw from a reputable brand.
Great value for the price
Less than $5 for a quickdraw! (Or, $2.50 per biner...and a dogbone).

Concerns about product age despite being new

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for thicker dogbones for sport climbing
Thicker dogbone is better for grabbing = for sport climbing.
Preference for different styles of quickdraws
Purchase the draws you like.
Discussion on weight differences between quickdraws
Why buy more expensive quickdraws? I want to buy some new quickdraws, but the prices range from around 8€ a piece to 25€ a piece.
Preference for specific draw features varies among climbers
Everyone has their preferences for draws.
Preference for different lengths of quickdraws for various climbing styles
lots of great info, thanks so much for your help!
General agreement that quickdraws don't vary much in usability
many amazing climbers still use cheapo draws.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
General agreement that brand differences are minimal
Any major brand is fine and there isn't any real difference.
There are actually 0 make or break features on QDs, only preference.
Advice on choosing quickdraws based on climbing style
All the advice here is good so far, only one I wouldn’t recommend is anything with the thin dogbone because these ones get easy to backclip for beginners for some reason.
Petzl Spirit Express highly rated but expensive
They are expensive, but it’s worth it for me.
Keynose quickdraws seen as worthwhile investment
Keynose are worth the money. The rest is just style.
Sales and discounts available for climbing gear
There are always sales going on, like 20% off here and there, but when are the 'end of the season' sales?
General brand loyalty is low among climbers
They are cheaper and pretty much the same thing.
Discussion on optimal quickdraw lengths for specific applications
12cm might make a negligible difference on the first bolt.
Advice to try quickdraws in-store before purchasing
Some people develop brand loyalties based partially on how the carabiners feel in your hands.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on potential failure modes of quickdraws
This definitely looks like it was nose-hooked or otherwise loaded in a weird way on the hanger.
Black Diamond has a QC lab on this, and pattern of failure on OP biner matches.
Nose hook all day. Especially on those camp large basket carabiners, quite the lever arm there if it gets caught up.
I'm no expert, but that quickdraw looks like it's in very bad condition.
