Consumer feedback highlights the Petzl DJINN's excellent quality and sturdy construction, with users noting that "they're super durable, and really easy to clip." Many climbers appreciate the snag-free operation and the satisfying gate snap, while others mention the quickdraw's solid construction and good handling, making it a great choice for sport climbing. Overall, the Petzl DJINN AXESS Quickdraw is highly recommended for climbers seeking reliable and durable quickdraws, especially for sport climbing, despite some minor issues noted by a few users.

Not for you? Check out our other rated Quickdraws

I’ve had the QuickDraws for a while now and I don’t notice much slop, the very little I do doesn’t bother me or hinder my workouts at all.

Positive Feedback

I've had a few bad experiences with them getting nose hooked when I really needed them to come off.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Good quality and sturdy construction
I’ve had the QuickDraws for a while now and I don’t notice much slop, the very little I do doesn’t bother me or hinder my workouts at all.
Petzl Spirit Express are my favorite and generally the highest rated on review sites I have found.
The overall fit and finish feels very nice, and the knife is very light.
Super durable and easy to clip
they're not the world's lightest draws, but they're super durable, and really easy to clip.
I like the djinn better, I find them easier to clip.
Smoother gate operation
I think the gate is smoother on the Djinns but that could be totally subjective.
Snag-free operation improves clipping
The only place I really notice a big difference between expensive biners and cheap biners is on the rope side of of alpine draws - having a snag-free biner is awesome for when you extend it.
One thing other people haven't mentioned is the angle of the nose on the biner.
Clean nose design for easier cleaning
Nose hook on rope side for lower chance of accidental un-clipping.
Petzl DJINN is a great choice for quickdraws.
Petzl djinn are great too.
Good for sport climbing
I use Petzl djinns and would definitely recommend them for sport climbing.
I use Petrel Djinns because of the key nose and bent gates (Spirit is basically the same design).
Satisfying gate operation
The way the gate snaps is super satisfying and the dogbone is nice and supple.
Solid construction
The Petzl Spirit is one of the best designed carbineers their is!!
Good handling and stability
I quite like them.
Spirit has more angled gate and will be easier to clip, but easier = well you probably recognise it as an expert.
The Spirits are my favorite draws!
Durable construction
Love love love my Spirits.
I've got some of the regular size ange biners on alpine draws on my rack.
Great resource for beginners
this is definitely a great resource (even though it's super simple) for beginners.
Lightweight and good handling
they're really good. I mean, as good as any other Quickdraw, though I do feel the rope slides in a tad more smoothly than with others I've used.
Petzl makes excellent quickdraws.
You can't get better draws than Petzl makes.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Nose hooking issues
I've had a few bad experiences with them getting nose hooked when I really needed them to come off.
Potential snagging issues with hook noses
What isn't personal preference is the hook noses, especially on the bolt side carabiners.
Difficulty clipping the rope
I actually hate them, but I might be alone in that respect.
clipping seemed a bit difficult because your thumb doesn't fit through the gate quite as easy as normal draws.
Less comfortable than competitors
the DMMs blow the Petzls out of the water in comfort and functionality.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Curiosity about quickdraw features and preferences
Hey guys! I am going to start outdoor climbing soon.
Any major brand is fine and there isn't any real difference.
There are actually 0 make or break features on QDs, only preference
Overall don't throw too much money on this, there are pieces of gear which are more worth spending on (helmet, good harness etc)
Preference for solid vs wiregate draws
I prefer solid gate because they feel like the open smoother to me, but it really doesn’t matter.
Discussion on carabiner positioning
Is there any situation in which you would want to the carabiners on the quickdraw to face in opposite directions?
Curiosity about quickdraw features and preferences.
whatever will catch me. The gym I train at has some pretty sticky biners so you learn to love anything that works better then those.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on quickdraws for ice climbing
True but nobody takes big fat nylon quickdraws like the one described here ice climbing :)
no. Alpine draws have less of a use for ice climbing because usually your lines are straighter and
Discussion on differences in quickdraw pricing
Why buy more expensive quickdraws? I want to buy some new quickdraws, but the prices range from around 8€ a piece to 25€ a piece.
Discussion on preferences for quickdraw brands.
Everyone has their preferences for draws. Personally I just look for sales and am not really brand loyal (target is $10/draw).
Gear Talk: What's your favorite quickdraw, and why?
DMM Aero's I feel are the equivalent of the Spirits, and I love their action, its so smooth.
Curiosity about quickdraw pricing and sales.
There are always sales going on, like 20% off here and there, but when are the "end of the season" sales?
If anyone is on a tighter budget and is willing to wait for a sale on some cheap but solid quickdraws, every so often on amazon The Gear Coop puts a 5-pack of camp wire gate quickdraws on sale.
Mention of alternative brands and comparisons.
Very comparable to the spirits and have a hooded wire gate on the rope-end biner for cleaning.
Comparative pricing discussions
Sounds like the beal's draws are a very good option for me
Discussion on preferences for quickdraw lengths
Out of the standard set of 16 qd I normally carry with me, 6 are 25cm, maybe 4 are 12 cm and the rest are 17 cm, a size which I find very versatile.
I’ve decided to get the Spirits (huzzah!) since it seems like nobody has anything negative to say about them.
General advice on building a climbing rack
And yes, you probably will get some even longer draws eventually.
Preference for different brands and models
even after all these years, and the release of the dmm alpha and petzl ange and camp photon, wild country heliums are still the best wiregates.
Kick those people in the shin and call them appleheads.
Discussion on personal preferences in climbing gear
Some of this is just due to me being in the habit of my other draws, which readily take the rope as soon as it is first pushed into the gate, but I feel that part of it may be the reduced basket size of the smaller ange carabiners.
Even without gloves I can't stand stuff like the camp nano 23 even if it is lighter.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Curiosity about gym product technology
Yeah that was interesting to learn! Now I'm curious how many other gym products have this tech as well.
Opinions on sport specific quickdraws. As someone who only sport climbs and boulders, is it worth investing in some sport specific quickdraws such as BD Freewire, or just using all round draws?
General safety of UIAA rated quickdraws
If that’s all the feedback you want - anything UIAA rated for climbing will be fine.
Discussion about the lifespan of climbing gear.
And it was awesome.
Depending on how much your climbing. I replace my draw slings every 5 years, the biners will last until they look worn (expect 10 years of fair use at least).
