The ClevrPlus Deluxe Adjustable Baby Carrier is a versatile outdoor child backpack designed for hiking and camping adventures with your little one. It features a one-piece frame design that ensures safety and comfort, catering to children between 9-48 months and up to 33lbs. Feedback from users highlights its comfort for both parents and children, with one reviewer stating, "Baby loves being able to see stuff w/o overheating or being smashed against us in Ergo carrier." Many appreciate the ample storage space and structured design that effectively distributes weight, making long hikes enjoyable. Positive Feedback

Terrible for overhanging rocks/limbs, too, since the kid is so high up and it's hard to judge if you're gonna smack their head on something.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Great for long hikes
Baby loves being able to see stuff w/o overheating or being smashed against us in Ergo carrier.
Comfortable for both baby and adult
It is a lot of money to spend, but I have completely moved away from the Ergo baby, sling, moby wrap (too stretchy now) and Lenny Lamb Mai Tai I have because my daughter just won't tolerate them for more than 5 minutes.
Comfortable for long hikes
Was hoping a hiking one would offer more support
Ample storage space for essentials
Lunchbox is worth the price.
Great for hiking with children
Definitely plan for the other partner to carry supplies if you're carrying the kid, but it has saved our hiking outings for sure.
Structured design distributes weight effectively
They are structured to not put all the weight on your shoulders.
Comfort for extended use
You can bypass that section on the JMT.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on transitioning to carrying heavier children
How do people do this regularly on long and strenuous hikes?
I think the issue is you’ve tried to start carrying your child at a relatively late age rather than starting the child carrying as an infant, which would let you gradually build up to heavier weights as the child grows.
We stopped using the carriers completely when they were 4 (at that point it was just used when they got tired and we wanted to continue).
My back used to be very sore with the onbuhimo but now I can put my 35 lb toddler in it and it’s heavy but doable for short walks.
Preference for non-frame carriers
We used an Ergo carrier and it worked much better for us.
Hated frame carriers, loved my Lillebaby and Beco Gemini.
We found this one to be the most adjustable and comfortable for our son and for us to wear.
Importance of building strength for carrying children
I felt much more balanced with a soft carrier, like my ergo, than a high carrier like the hiking ones.
Preference for carriers that allow hands-free convenience
Not hands free is a dealbreaker for me.
Comparison of different types of carriers and their support
A ringsling can be just as quick (with a little practice), and does give full support, so you don’t need to hold baby with one arm.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Experiences using carriers for errands, not just hiking
having him not touch anything in the store is a lot easier when he can't reach haha!
General chatter about carrying kids
Camelbak all the way!

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Uncertainty about airline policies for baby carriers compared to strollers
We’re considering taking our Deuter Kid comfort (kid back carrier with stand) instead of our stroller on our upcoming trip.
I will put it in a stroller gate check bag and see what happens.
Bring the kid into the store and stuff him into various carriers to try them out, then when he pukes all over one buy that one.
Consider buying used due to low usage rates
People buy them all the time and then never use them.
Discussion on transitioning children out of carriers
The investment for the backpack trip was worth it.
Discussion on the learning curve associated with using certain carriers
They have a learning curve but once you know how to use it it’s so easy! If possible ask help from a babywearing consultant
Suggestions for seeking help from babywearing consultants
They help with finding the right carrier and also with adjusting the current one.
Personal preferences for baby carriers vary significantly.
Just buy the expensive baby carrier If you plan to or are regularly baby wearing, just buy the nicer gear - it's worth it.
Just further proof that the "right" carrier is very personal to the wearer and the baby. I'm glad you have something that works for you. 😊
Discussion on the comfort levels of different carrier brands.
Instantly comfortable and doesn’t strain my shoulders.
I don’t have to take mine off to take my baby out.
Experiences with various baby carriers highlight the importance of finding the right fit.
I love the Tula. The Ergo baby Embrace for her first months was also just right.
Each to their own! It works well for me and my baby.
Discussion on preferences for baby carriers
Hydro packs recommendations
for the bladder yes, for the pack anything else is so much better.
Discussion about fitting carriers for taller individuals
I'm wary of forcing myself into a carrier that doesn't fit and ending up with back issues.
Preference for higher-end carriers
Don't get that Clevr carrier. It was awful. Very uncomfortable and cheaply made.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on the weight of carriers during hikes
Even on our day hikes we were probably carrying no more than 20lbs each and most of that was water so obviously got lighter as the day went on haha!
Concerns about fit and comfort in different carriers.
I'm not small but I feel like there is no space for both baby and my boobs, and it's hard to get the waistband to stay put
Agreed! I have the ergo baby omni breeze and it’s sooo good!
Yep, we got the ergo baby 5000 or whatever and my kid hates it. Loves the $50 infantino though! Also enjoy all the additional pockets on the ‘tino
Concerns about fit and comfort in different carriers
+1 for lunchbox. I used it on a hike recently and put it to the test at electric forest a few weeks back.
Concerns about hiking safety with infants
I have done a lot of research on hikes to do, things to do, but I feel like because I will be with my 10 month old I need some more specific advice.
People were very quick to tell me that was a terrible and dangerous idea to do that trail with a baby on my back.
