I have this one and it’s been surprisingly great for the cost!

Positive Feedback

It is missing one velcro padding that would be against the child's back or maybe it's the sunshade canopy that is missing.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Cost-effective alternative to high-end brands
I have this one and it’s been surprisingly great for the cost!
Extremely lightweight design
Ultralight parents! What’s your baby carry method? Snagged some wilderness permits for Yosemite in August.
There are so many options. What are the most important features to look for? Most/top recommended brands?
Best hiking carrier for infants? My wife and I are looking for suggestions for hiking carriers for our infant for this fall.
I am just looking for something easy to put on and off. Also, comfortable for me and baby.
Comfortable for both parent and child
I love it. The fabric is linen so not too hot and she seems really comfortable in it.
100% worth it. I have one and it’s excellent quality, isn’t hot or bulky.
It fits me perfectly, I can easily get baby in and out no probs by myself and it’s comfortable.
Adjustable and ergonomic fit
They are the easiest for me to get on and off by myself too.
Sturdy and well-made
It is sturdy and well made.
Size inclusive for different body types
I love the tula bc they’re size inclusive. Both my husband and I are plus size and can wear the tula carriers without issue.
Comfortable weight distribution
Does a great job of distributing weight, acts as a high chair, and has storage for food, drinks, or supplies.
It allows us to enjoy hiking.
Great for hiking with toddlers
We used to do day hikes (10-20km) before we had him but seeing as the carriers themselves weigh in at around 7-8lbs I’m just wondering what it’s like carrying 35lbs plus?
Yes! Our 3.5 year old will only hike about 5km before she's totally done, and we can still get her in the hiking carrier as a last resort.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Missing parts (velcro padding or sunshade canopy)
It is missing one velcro padding that would be against the child's back or maybe it's the sunshade canopy that is missing.
Front-facing carriers can be hard on baby's hips and spine
The short answer is there isn’t a “best” carrier for outward facing because that position is not ideal.
Limited duration recommended for forward-facing carrying
Forward facing is extremely simulating for baby and they're unable to turn away from the stimulus to calm down, so yes, you should limit it to 15ish minutes.
Learning curve for usage
EVERY carrier has a learning curve.
Not suitable for all types of carrying
Not really a carrier but a carry assist. You’d need hand(s) on baby at all times.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Users share experiences with other brands of child carriers.
Helps get my son higher to see everything and can barely feel it.
It is excellent quality & comfortable.
We found this one to be the most adjustable and comfortable for our son and for us to wear.
Baby loves being able to see stuff w/o overheating or being smashed against us in Ergo carrier.
Discussion on various types of baby carriers
I never liked the hiking carriers. Terrible for overhanging rocks/limbs, too, since the kid is so high up and it's hard to judge if you're gonna smack their head on something.
Discussion about the complexity of various baby carriers
The instructions are really complicated and between all my messing with the straps and buckles and readjusting, LO gets annoyed every time I try to figure it out.
Once you have it correctly adjusted, the Ergobaby should be pretty simple to put on.
I just slip the straps over my shoulders. To me, that was the benefit of this type of carrier.
the Ergobaby and Beco 8 are the easiest and fastest to put on.
Discussion about the convenience of various carrier types.
I'd love to get something easy and quick for the home.
I wouldn’t buy those, but go for a ringsling.
Have you tried a sling library? There are many in the UK.
They have a learning curve but once you know how to use it it’s so easy! If possible ask help from a babywearing consultant.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Trying out child carriers in stores is recommended.
Bring the kid into the store and stuff him into various carriers to try them out, then when he pukes all over one buy that one.
Has anyone ever used one of the child carriers (e.g. osprey poco, deuter kid comfort)? If so, was it worth the investment, how long was your child able to use it?
Recommendations for testing carriers in stores
Hey. Sorry for the delay. Long weekend here! Our blog is backpacksandbikeracks.com Hope it helps
Borrowing or renting carriers is recommended
Borrow or rent first. My kids hated riding in a carrier pack.
Discussion about comparing carriers of different brands
I've never tried one and I'm curious because there is a good supply of them in FB marketplace for good prices.
Various recommendations for testing carriers
Thank you for this! I think I will just end up trying a bunch second hand.
Different preferences for carrier types
If you really like it, go for a woven wrap at 2-3 months.
Comparison with other carriers
I like the Senarah for small tasks at home but it doesn't replace a full baby carrier because it hurts the shoulder.
Discussion about preferences in baby carriers
Following my baby is almost a year and always wants to be carried . I was considering a tush baby but I didn't like how it's bulky . Wondering if the senarah is a better option.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Users share concerns about secondhand carriers due to hygiene
My only issue with secondhand is that I’ve always been a germaphobe and covid has made me more so.
I was amazed by how clean and new it looked, and I thought it looked pretty clean before I even started.
No parent of multiples should feel any pressure to take their kids anywhere! Instead, do what works for you.
Personal experiences with hiking and carrying babies
He loves it and you can get stuff done.
Many parents have mixed feelings about front-facing carriers
Best carrier that can be used front facing? Have a ring sling and wrap but want to have a front facing one because baby seems so eager to look at everything now.
Users discuss various carrier brands and experiences
Deuter kid carrier is really great for hiking.
Your best bet is to find some place to try on several different kinds but I know that can be difficult.
Challenges of carrying toddlers
used it for a hike for a couple of hours last week and it really started to hurt.
Discussion about different hiking experiences
I would recommend looking on Facebook marketplace for a used one to save some money (although I think the newer versions are worth paying a little more compared to some of the 80s style ones you will find for sale used, because the newer ones have all the frills, like mesh straps for even less sweat, the adjustable seats for a growing kid, and sun shades).
