Snoop's Take

The WIPHA Baby Backpack Carrier is an innovative hiking carrier designed to provide both comfort and convenience for parents and children during outdoor adventures. With its ergonomic design and adjustable carrying system, it allows for an enjoyable experience while keeping your little one safe and secure. Consumer feedback highlights several strengths of this baby carrier, emphasizing its lightweight and portable nature, making it great for long hikes. Many parents appreciate that it effectively distributes weight, stating, "Does a great job of distributing weight, acts as a high chair, and has storage for food, drinks, or supplies." However, some parents note that children outgrow the carrier quickly, with one user commenting, "He's mostly outgrown it now at almost 3." Overall, the WIPHA Baby Backpack Carrier comes highly recommended for families who enjoy hiking and need a reliable way to carry their children. Despite some concerns regarding how quickly children may outgrow it, its design and functionality outweigh these drawbacks in the eyes of many satisfied customers.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Great for long hikes
Baby loves being able to see stuff w/o overheating or being smashed against us in Ergo carrier.
It has saved our hiking outings for sure.
Lightweight and portable
She might have been 1.5 years old and there was still lots of room to adjust as she got older.
Great value for the cost
I have this one and it’s been surprisingly great for the cost!
Ideal for alternating carrying between parents
It's a bit hot, your directly contacting the little one.
Sturdy and well made
Just bought minimeis. It is sturdy and well made.
Great for distributing weight
Does a great job of distributing weight, acts as a high chair, and has storage for food, drinks, or supplies.
Effective weight distribution
Our other carriers are fine and dandy, but don't distribute the weight properly for walks longer than an hour for myself
Useful for errands and travel
having him not touch anything in the store is a lot easier when he can't reach haha!

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Child outgrows carrier quickly
He's mostly outgrown it now at almost 3. The investment for the backpack trip was worth it.
May not be used frequently
People buy them all the time and then never use them.
Children outgrow carriers quickly
Also, kids outgrow these quickly so they are available second hand.
Hiking carriers can be uncomfortable for some kids
Was hoping a hiking one would offer more support
Difficulty with overhanging obstacles
I never liked the hiking carriers. Terrible for overhanging rocks/limbs, too, since the kid is so high up and it's hard to judge if you're gonna smack their head on something.

Discussion on alternatives for carrying multiples
No parent of multiples should feel any pressure to take their kids anywhere! Instead, do what works for you.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Preference for different carrying methods
What’s your preferred method for carrying a baby? Front loaders or backpack?
He loves it and you can get stuff done.
Curiosity about Tula carriers and market availability
What's the deal with tula carriers? I feel like tula carriers used to be a hot item and I never hear ppl discuss them any more.
I love the tula bc they’re size inclusive.
I started with the ergo 360 but found it hard to adjust and hot. I then bought an Artipoppe but I had to return it because it did not work for my big/tall baby. I then tried a Tula toddler carrier and I love it.
100% worth it. I have one and it’s excellent quality, isn’t hot or bulky, and as far as I know they don’t do shitty limited drops so you can actually purchase one.
Discussion about choosing the right carrier
I am just looking for something easy to put on and off. Also, comfortable for me and baby.
Your plan to get one carrier for newborn time and another for 2 months+ is solid.
Since i’m petite, I had to go through about 5 carriers to find one that fit me right.
My first bb is currently 8 months and getting heavy! I may look into getting a hard frame backpack style carrier for when I’m hiking or out with the dogs for over an hour.
Discussion about transitioning from other carriers
shoulders is an easy carry as long as overhead clearance is good
Concerns about storage and price of larger carriers
Used it for a hike for a couple of hours last week and it really started to hurt.
Interest in trying different carrier styles
I have worn all three of my kids pretty much daily for walking the dog.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Concerns about buying second-hand carriers
My only issue with secondhand is that I’ve always been a germaphobe and covid has made me more so.
I was amazed by how clean and new it looked, and I thought it looked pretty clean before I even started.
Concerns about forward facing carriers
Best carrier that can be used front facing? Have a ring sling and wrap but want to have a front facing one because baby seems so eager to look at everything now.
Forward facing is extremely simulating for baby and they're unable to turn away from the stimulus to calm down, so yes, you should limit it to 15ish minutes.
Most major carrier brands have very similar informational posts that caution using that position.
Discussion about different carrier brands
It is a lot heavier than just a carrier or a stroller, so my husband wears it when we go out.
