Snoop's Take

The Farberware Nonstick Bakeware 9-Inch x 5-Inch Loaf Pan is a budget-friendly bakeware option designed to deliver even heating and beautiful browning for your loaf recipes. Crafted from heavy-gauge steel and responsibly coated without PFAS, PFOA, lead, or cadmium, it exemplifies practical design in everyday baking. Reddit chatter, though sparse, reveals a mix of cautious approval and muted enthusiasm. One user even noted, “it fit perfectly in my desk”, a quirky nod to its compact and functional design. Critics in the community commend its nonstick release and ease of cleaning, yet some remain indifferent about its basic durability and heating efficiency. Overall, the feedback is balanced without excessive fanfare. From an expert standpoint, this loaf pan is recommended for its class: it offers the essential features required for consistent baking at a price that won’t break the bank. It may not revolutionize baking, but it stands as a practical choice for both home bakers and professionals seeking reliability on a budget.

Insightful Chatter

I bought a baking pan at walmart yesterday for $9, it warped badly right away and jumped around in the oven at 350°, complete garbage 😫 - I mean my expectations were low, but I though it might last 6 months or something, it's wasn't even functional.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Material and construction preferences
Aluminum is the way to go for bread baking, I much prefer it to the glass pans I was using previously which always seemed to take twice as long to bake with.
I like the NordicWare Naturals loaf pans, but also use pyrex glass.
I don’t use pyrex for loaves - not since one shattered when I stupidly sprayed my bread with cold water instead of warm.
Loaf pans can improve bread shape for easier slicing
I have a friend who felt exactly the same as you; she wanted traditional sandwich bread shaped loaves instead of the round.
I'm going to use a loaf pan next time, because I'm sick and tired of the dough sticking to my banneton. Dammit!

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Greasing and flouring nonstick pans can improve food release and crust formation
The butter and flour get swept away with a few wipes, same with the oil and flour.
it prevents the grease/butter from being absorbed as much into your food.
I’m pretty sure you can. I do it.
You can also cover the top with aluminum foil, then shake the pan to distribute the flour. Minimizes mess, even by a sink.

Alternative pan brand recommendations
Fat daddio for round pans, Nordic ware for Bundt
Personally, I like USA Pan. The easy release is really great.
These are excellent.
Yes to USA pans. They last and produce good bread.
Good value deals for inexpensive pans
Two-pack for $23 and very much worth that.
It's fuckin' worth it, BUT, if you are lucky enough to be a Minnesotan and can get to St. Louis Park, you absolutely and positively need to go to the Nordic Ware factory outlet and check out their clearance shelf.
Cleaning and maintenance tips
For the pan you linked, you would probably need the Nordic ware brush or a toothbrush to get it clean.
Not sure who I’m gonna give them to in my will though.
Effective cleaning methods for nonstick pans
Baking soda and dawn
Boiling hot water covering it all, let it soak. *Boiling*, not hot tap water.
The folks that say soak in boiling water w Dawn are on the money.
After you follow the steps, going forward, use foil or parchment paper and cover the pan so it won’t ever get this bad again.
Ambiguity in pan type (loaf pan vs. pâté terrine)
I believe it’s a pâté terrine.
It's a little shorter width and height wise from from the pate terrine.
Zojirushi bread machine delivers consistent performance
What I love about it is how consistent it is.
Every loaf turns out amazing, whether it's a tender white or a robust rye.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Poor durability of very inexpensive pans
I bought a baking pan at walmart yesterday for $9, it warped badly right away and jumped around in the oven at 350°, complete garbage 😫 - I mean my expectations were low, but I though it might last 6 months or something, it's wasn't even functional.
Isn’t that what op is complaining about? The pans at half that price?
Avoid using metal utensils on nonstick pans
In addition, never ever use metal utensils on a non-stick pan. No forks, no metal spatulas, nothing that can nick the coating.
Super short version, if you take care of them and use only wood/silicone utensils and avoid scratching the heck out of the pans, and use a non-abrasive cleaning method they are safe.
Replace pan if nonstick coating is peeling
If the coating is peeling off into the food it's bad for you and should be replaced.
No it's not. Don't use a non stick that is peeling at all.
Avoid overheating nonstick pans to prevent toxic fumes
You should also never heat them dry (without food) as the coating can burn and release harmful gasses (they can kill pet birds)!
That's sad, I'm sorry. They are a useful tool but should only be used when you need the non stick capability (so never when boiling water).
Preference for stainless steel over nonstick pans
Get a stainless steel pan instead, you’ll thank me when it lasts forever
Stainless is indestructible and good for dam near everything (except eggs)
Nonstick coating durability concerns in bread machine pans
Just a warning: most pans in a bread machine use a non stick coating that gets totally obliterated by your starter. Never let it sit in there for too long, or you will be looking to buy a new pan within a couple of months
Is this true? Surely all the other ingredients in the pan with it helps negate any effect?
Dishwasher cleaning for bakeware raises concerns of discoloration and performance
I HATE doing dishes and unfortunately due to that, most of my metal bakeware has rusted.
I love my Nordic ware pans!! Although I do normally hand wash them, I’ve put them through the dishwasher and they DO discolor.
The amount of appliances and others i gave up on because they were not dishwasher safe is ridiculous.
