What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Comfortable shave experience
I haven’t cut myself with a fusion, I never get razor burn, razor bumps, feels goooood on the face, smoothest shave ever next to a straight razor, my cheeks feel baby butt smooth.
What is better for shaving though? I have no issue with comfort.
Close shave results
Fusion is a game changer in getting an absolute close shave.
KCG blades are sharp yet gentle
i liked them.
Adequate for clean shaves
These are basically designed for daily shaving of stubble with one pass; for this, they came work.
Smooth shave experience with no burns
Has anyone else used Gillette Skinguard? I switched to this razor and have had positive results with it.
The Mach 3 Turbo did take less strokes to cut my facial hair than the Skinguard, but the Skinguard was far smoother to use on my skin.
Gentle on skin and reduces irritation
It is the gentlest razor I have ever used and still cuts pretty well.
Affordable compared to other Fusion blades
Cheaper than other Fusion based blades
Works well for travel with carry-on
I've used the Gillette SkinGuard when traveling before. It worked fine.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Causes irritation during shaving
Steep angle shaving as shown in that link is the same as riding the guard.
I tried this steep angle with **Sterling + SP black** combo for today's SOTD. First time, miraculously, I did not get any weepers with SP black.
The thread was about not-so-good shaves with Sterling DE razor. That it causes irritation.
I have no problems with BIC. Sometimes they feel a little abrasive on the first go.
Blades are overpriced
There’s no number code on them, just “F10” and “F30” in two spots.
Personally, I find the new Gillette stuff to be overpriced.
Shave isn't as close as expected compared to Mach5
the shave isn’t nearly as close as the Mach5.
KCG blades are expensive
They are also quite cheap.
Battery failure after 18 months
Great shaver when it works.
Blades dull quickly
Anyone else finding the blade quality isn’t the same?
Causes cuts on tricky areas
With a new skinguard against the grain, its perfectly clean, not a cut in sight.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on blade preferences for sensitive skin
Blades were obtained from GlowShine.
Laser Ultra. Mild & very smooth.
I find that riding the guard is better practice if you have an aggressive razor like the Stirling.
Willy and laser are smoother and less sharp than 7 o'clock sp.
Preference for mild razors
It’s fairly ubiquitous and not terribly expensive.
I love my KCG. It's a mild razor, but i like that.
Discussion about blade preferences for different users
Lots of nicks and had to do multiple passes to get a somewhat smooth result, yet not even close to what I got with Wilkinson's or even Gillette's.
They work great for me, feels super sharp like a Feather.
See, Astra's are one of my all-time favorites, but I hate BIC blades.
boy if I had to pick one blade for life this would be it...
Discussion on the use of shaving creams and gels
If it comes out of a can, tube. Then you don’t need a brush right away.
Great, so could I use that same brush to use with an after-shave moisturizer or is the brush only for the shave cream/gel?
I'm just starting to notice more facial hair so this is great to know, thank you!
Discussion on personal preferences in shaving products
The ultimate goal is to find what works best for you.
Discussion about blade types and comparisons
I am pretty certain the KCGs are rebranded Platinums.
There is a huge thread on this question over there with microscope photographs of various blades to compare them.
I'm not so sure, I used both and to me it seems the KCG last longer than the platinum, closer to the 7 o'clock SS.
The KCG is a platinum blade; the 7OC SS is not.
Discussion on blade coatings and their effects
Theoretically, this affects how smooth and durable the final product is.
Is one typically sharper or stronger than another?
Is there a best or is it skin type? There are also a yellow one, super 7?
As everyone says, you gotta try them for yourself and evaluate.
Variety of Gillette blades available
There's a huge amount of blades that have Gillette in the name.
Discussion about past loyalty to Mach 3
I found the product to be superior to every other product I tried.
Discussion about razor evolution and pricing
Gillette even has a single blade pivoting cartridge razor called the Gillette Guard, which is even more comfortable to use than the Skinguard or the Sensor Excel, but it is not sold except in developing countries.
General comparison of different Gillette razor models
The Sensor Excel is my favorite Gillette cartridge.
They don't have the original Sensor's angle iron technology.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about switching to safety razors for better cost and sustainability
Blades are a lot cheaper and of course steel.
Switch to a safety razor! No plastic just razor blades
Shaving with a DE razor requires different techniques and has a learning curve
Shaving with a DE is a skill.
It can take a little while to get a very close shave as you did on a cartridge.
It is normal to do a couple of passes with a safety razor.
Discussion on shaving techniques
Pretty good shave, no tugging or pulling. No cuts or nicks.
Exploration of shaving techniques and personal experiences
Haven’t had a breakout since starting.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Exploration of shaving techniques (riding the guard)
I find that riding the guard is better practice if you have an aggressive razor like the Stirling.
Blade tracker should help
Availability of safety razors in stores
Every time I go to a super market like Walmart or Target, the safety razors are on the bottom shelf and there's usually only one stocked.
Questions about safety razor regulations for travel
Sounds better and more sustainable.
Discussion about switching to another brand for cost savings
Cheapest place to buy Gillette razor reffils
Switching to another brand (Dorco) will yield much more significant savings than trying to find Gillette on sale somewhere.
Comparison between ProGlide and Fusion
Difference between Gillette ProGlide and Fusion? I see both are the same price but I can’t seem to notice a difference.
Comparison between cartridge and DE razors
Thanks for this. As I've said in the past, cartridge razors are like fast food restaurants.
Discussion about transitioning from DE razors to cartridge razors
With the technique that you gain from DE razor (and shaving soap/cream), you can virtually shave with any cartridge razor effortlessly.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about using safety razors versus cartridge razors
Both antique Gillette. Both found at estate sales.
I'm still using my grandpas Fatboy, love being able to keep a piece of him around
Because I don't know how to use a safety razor.
It’s much easier and the shave is much better.
Discussion about brand marketing strategies
Gillette has razors, some 5 blade and one is double edged blade.
Gillette er Proctor and Gamble know where the money maker is.
Experiences with counterfeit blades
The real ones are extremely sharp and smooth.
Variability in blade performance among users
They tug more than I did in my teens.
Always sharp on the first shave, even sharper on the second one.
Discussion about blade preferences for sensitive skin
I keep doing back to double edge safety razors. Cheaper and a better shave.
Discussion about Gillette's business model
Razors and blades model – why Gillette did not implement it
It had to be something market practice related IMO.
I ended up using Gillette cartridges for about 10 years before switching to king of shaves cartridges, then double-edged another 10 years later.
Critique of Gillette's marketing strategies
This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
