What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Safety razors provide a better shave
Honestly I thought the same and then I tried it and I’ll never go back.
It’s way more intuitive than it seems and as long as you don’t go sideways as you shave, you’re good
Cost-effective shaving solution
Gillette has razors, some 5 blade and one is double edged blade.
It’s not a bad razor.
Shave becomes smoother over time with practice
after a few months now I feel like each shave got smoother and less irritating.
Good for experimenting with different techniques
Shaving with a DE is a skill.
Modern blades fit well in vintage razors
The blades seemed to have a more rounded shape back then compared to the rectangular blades of today
Modern blades were designed to fit older razors
The overall shape is still the same. Modern blades will work fine in a vintage razor.
Modern blades work great in it.
Comfortable shave without irritation
I have no issue with comfort.
My cheeks feel baby butt smooth.
Gillette products provide a close shave
Fusion is a game changer in getting an absolute close shave.
I can almost dry shave with a Gillette multi-blade razors whereas with a perfect lather and heated safety razor I will almost definitely have some razor burn.
Satisfaction with Gillette's performance
I still notice tiny nicks with the Harry's, although they go away right away so it is not a big deal.
KCG blades are sharp yet gentle
They are sharp but quite gentle.
i liked them.
KCG blades last longer than Platinum blades
I'm not so sure, I used both and to me it seems the KCG last longer than the platinum, closer to the 7 o'clock SS(the only other Gillette blade I've used).
Great shaver when it works
Great shaver when it works.
Sensor 3 cartridges still available in some regions
Gillette now sells the King C Gillette safety razor in most places.
Provides a better shave than multiblade razors
I'm so tired of disposable razors that only last for 2-4 uses before going dull and shredding my skin.
You get a better shave with the Sensor than with any 5 or 6 blade (how hilarious is that!) razor.
Cheaper in the long run
Cheaper in the long run, and closer shaves that are better for your skin.
More control over the shave
safety razors give you more control over the shave
Blades are cheap and easy to swap
the blades are cheap so you can swap them out, and you're not constantly throwing out cheap plastic bits.
Smooth shave without burns or cuts
Has anyone else used Gillette Skinguard? I shaved and my face was looking really good and no burns or cuts.
The Skinguard was far smoother to use on my skin.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Difficult to use for beginners
I don't know how to use a safety razor. Ironically.
Aggressive razor may cause irritation
No effect on the irritation though.
This irritation actually makes aftershave burn the face.
Inconsistent quality control in razors
Many members here have said its mild so definitely there is huge difference not in the opinion but the razors QC.
I have tried a few different razors and sometimes return to Mach3 for economic reasons, and always regret taking that option.
They seem to "innovate” every few years as an excuse to jack the prices up across the board.
Overpriced blades
The razors are alright, but the blades are really overpriced.
BIC blades can cause nicks and irritation
Today I shaved with BIC blades for the first time and got possibly the worst results with them.
I have no problems with BIC. Sometimes they feel a little abrasive on the first go.
Bic sucks balls
Inconsistent quality in BIC blades
The real ones are extremely sharp and smooth.
Disposable razors are not sustainable.
There’s no number code on them, just “F10” and “F30” in two spots.
Blades are a lot cheaper and of course steel.
No plastic just razor blades
Using disposable razors can lead to cuts.
Tbh my experience was a lot of blood - especially when in a hurry.
Close shave takes time to achieve
The multi blades work by aggressively scraping the skin, whereas the DE is kinder on the skin, but needs a bit more maneuvering.
The razor gets good reviews so it seems like I’m missing something or maybe just had too high of expectations.
Some users experience razor bumps and irritation
Many people get razor bumps or burn with the Fusion. Which is why they came out with the SkinGuard.
Fusion imo is the best and will remain to be the best close up shaver on the market today.
Quality of KCG blades is uncertain compared to other brands
They’re not bad blades though.
Rinsing under hot water is cheaper
Great review.
Gillette has it all wrong
Gillette Has it all Wrong. It will be there Down Fall.
High prices for cartridges due to lack of support for older models
the price for the cartridges are getting very very high
Safety razors have cons despite benefits
Basically I won't sugarcoat it. Cartridge razors are pure waste of money and resources.
Can cause nicks when shaving against the grain
With a new skinguard against the grain, its perfectly clean, not a cut in sight.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion about KCG blade origins and manufacturing
the notion that P&G would order Russian blades from anyone other than their own operation is, to be honest, fanciful.
they say they are made in China. So, either production location has changed since your comment was made, or it was always China and there was bad information online.
Discussion on business models related to razors
Gillette’s business model—both its actual business model and its supposed razors-and-blades model—faced real competition and strong limits.
It had to be something market practice related IMO.
Thanks!
I ended up using Gillette cartridges for about 10 years before switching to king of shaves cartridges, then double-edged another 10 years later.
Discussion about razor compatibility and features
I really like the look and feel of the thing and I’m happy I bought it.
I would expect the blades to be one of Gillette's own products out of Russia, most likely the Gillette Platinum since the box mentions a platinum coating.
That head looks very much like the DE-89 head.
Discussion about crowdfunding for product launch
a hammer searching for a nail.
Discussion on ownership and manufacturing of Gillette DE blades
Complete list of Gillette manufactured double edge razor blades Hey guys, I'm trying to put a list together of all the current DE razor blades that ~~Gillette~~ P&G makes or owns.
"Makes or owns" is a little unclear. I don't think Gillette makes any DE blades.
Since you seem to know what you're talking about, can I assume that all the PPI blades are the same?
Not even close. They are very, very different. I really like Gillette Silver Blues and Polsilver SIs, but Astra SPs - not so much.
Discussion on blade coatings and their impact on performance
Theoretically, this affects how smooth and durable the final product is.
Is one typically sharper or stronger than another?
Is there a best or is it skin type? There are also a yellow one, super 7?
As everyone says, you gotta try them for yourself and evaluate.
Variety of Gillette blades available and their differences
There's a huge amount of blades that have Gillette in the name.
Conflicting thoughts on safety vs multiblade razors
It's really hard to make a decision, so I was hoping I could get some kind of pros and cons of each razor type.
Gillette Skinguard is a remake of Sensor Excel
Gillette's Skinguard is a remake of Gillette's own Sensor Excel razor.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Alternative shaving methods discussed
Because there’s less stuff long enough to clog the multi-blade cartridge, it’s easier to clean and lasts longer.
I found I spend too much time with the 3-5 blade razors just clearing out between the blades.
Exploration of alternative shaving methods like safety razors
Cheaper and a better shave. And they aren’t hard to get used to.
Curiosity about the use of Sensor 3 disposables for single use per shave
Some good info. Is the Sensor 3 disposable considered a one use per shave then throw away?

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Discussion on blade compatibility with razors
Blades were obtained from GlowShine.
Laser Ultra. Mild & very smooth.
I find that riding the guard is better practice if you have an aggressive razor like the Stirling.
I normally use a milder blade. Besides Laser Ultra, I find V12 & Pro 500 work for me.
Techniques for better shaving results
Blade tracker should help
Preference for non-alcohol based aftershaves
Thanks, this is useful. Perhaps we should switch to non-alcohol based aftershaves, if they are available?
Discussion on shaving techniques and preparation methods
It is normal to do a couple of passes with a safety razor.
DE shaving is a journey. The one that got a BBS (baby butt smooth), at the first try, lied to you.
Consideration of different shaving products and tools
Great, so could I use that same brush to use with an after-shave moisturizer or is the brush only for the shave cream/gel?
If it comes out of a can, tube. Then you don’t need a brush right away.
Discussion about various blade brands and their characteristics
I have thick hair, and I only shave every other day, so I need some **sharp** blades.
7'O Clocks Black, Nacet and Platinums are very similar if not the same.
You might want to take a look at another persons viewpoint.
My favorite are Gillette super blue, not to be confused with the silver blues...I don't know if they are still produced, I got lucky and found an old pack.
Discussion around the effectiveness of multi-blade vs single blade razors
I believe there was a big advantage in going from 1 to 2.
Preference for pre-shave preparation techniques
Maybe try hot towelling before you shave if you ever do decide to use a cartridge again.
I have read that some dermatologists recommend electrolysis in those cases, but I have no personal knowledge of that.
Comparison of KCG and other Gillette blades
I am pretty certain the KCGs are rebranded Platinums.
There is a huge thread on this question over there with microscope photographs of various blades to compare them.
Discussion on switching to different brands for savings
Cheapest place to buy Gillette razor reffils
Switching to another brand (Dorco) will yield much more significant savings than trying to find Gillette on sale somewhere.
Interest in product reviews and user experiences
Initially I only saw the unboxing video pop up on YouTube and thought to myself, "I need the full Cosmo review, too".
I popped the unboxing video up and then played with the thing for a while before getting around to using it and writing something up.
Community enthusiasm for wet-shaving
Shaving with a modern multi-blade cartridge razor is like driving a car with an automatic transmission while a safety razor is like driving a stick-shift.
Variety of razors available across price ranges
There are great razors at a low price like the Lord L6, razors made by Weishi or Baili, or from online retailers like Maggards or Italian Barber.
Preference for safety razors over disposables
I think Bic still makes disposable 2-blade razors. I'd still suggest using a safety razor for various reasons, but you can check those Bic out.
Thanks. I could try Bic, perhaps; my experience using them in the past once, was that they seemed really crappy and wore out really fast. I guess I could give them a second chance.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Double edge safety razors are highly regarded
Double edge safety razors are the pinnacle of shaving technology to the extent that cheap Chinese knockoff handles are BIFL.
Safety razor + blades is truly BuyItForLife! I switched several years ago.
Discussion on placement of safety razors in stores
Every time I go to a super market like Walmart or Target, the safety razors are on the bottom shelf and there's usually only one stocked.
Blade performance varies greatly between individuals
They work great for me, feels super sharp like a Feather.
Bics and they were above average but not as good Feathers or Personna Lab Blues.
there are so many variables when it comes to blades that there's no single blade that works perfectly for everyone.
Preference for different blade brands
See, Astra's are one of my all-time favorites, but I hate BIC blades.
Preference for Nacet blades over Gillette
They are also quite cheap.
Discussion on the longevity of razors in humid conditions
I don't know of many steels that won't oxidize under those conditions.
Information about relaunch and branding of Sensor razors
Best multiblade cartridge razor out there.
Discussion about availability of discontinued products
I often cut myself more, and also, the cartridges are nearly always more expensive.
Gillette has a single blade cartridge razor which shaves similarly to their Sensor Excel.
Does the Gillette Sensor Excel fit these blades?
User experiences with Bic razors
I just want to be able to continue as-is.
Discussion on sensitivity and razor performance
Haven’t had a breakout since starting.
