Snoop's Take

Harry's Razor Blades for Men are premium refill cartridges designed to provide a close and comfortable shave, tailored specifically for facial use. Users have expressed a mix of sentiments regarding the product, with some praising its affordability and quality, stating, "Harry's is half the price of Gillette but not sure I want to buy a ton more of them." However, there are also significant concerns, particularly about cuts and nicks, as some users reported that the blades can cause irritation and aren't suitable for all skin types, highlighting that "I took a 50p size chunk out of my head and had to get a nurse to bandage it up." Overall, while Harry's Razor Blades are appreciated for their price and initial performance, the mixed feedback regarding safety and comfort suggests potential users should proceed with caution, especially if they have sensitive skin or are new to shaving. If you prioritize cost over every other factor, it might be worth trying these blades, but there are notable risks involved.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Some users have had positive experiences with Harry's razors
Never had a problem.
Affordable compared to Gillette
Harry's is half the price of Gillette but not sure I want to buy a ton more of them.
Good initial performance
The Gillette for me last longer and offers a better connection keeping the blades in contact with the skin.
Better than Gillette for some users
Better than Gillette in every way.
Positive personal experience with Harry's
Def something you need to try yourself. I liked them more than other razors I tried and have stuck with them since.
Good for travel use
I still use my Harry's cartridge razor for my travel kit. They make fine cartridge blades and work perfectly for that.
Affordable pricing compared to other brands
Check them out if you need razors.
I shave my head, can confirm they are a great deal.
Easy to use with pivoting head
It was much easier to use as the head pivots.
Convenient delivery of replacement blades
Better alternative to Harry's Razors? I love the convenience of getting replacement blades in the mail and reusing the handle, but I just feel like the blades aren't great quality and don't shave close enough.
High quality blades for a close shave
I find them to be very high quality blades and sharp.
Tighten the head just enough so the razor and head pieces don't move.
Affordability of cartridges
Harry's Razor Blades? Hello, I am looking for a cheap form of shaving.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Easier to nick with Harry's blades
A light drag across the skin is all that is needed.
It takes quite a lot of time to master the technique to shave without a single nick or irritation.
Users experienced cuts and nicks while using Harry's razors
My whole head is irritated and was also bleeding in many other small spots.
I hate hate Harry’s razors for the same reason!
I took a 50p size chunk out of my head and had to get a nurse to bandage it up.
I cut it with a Harry’s razor cause I was at too steep an angle.
Blades cause severe cuts and nicks
Never experienced anything like it.
Multiple cuts and razor burn reported
Multiple cuts after most shaves.
I got really bad razor burn.
Trimmer blade causes cuts
Constantly cut myself.
Blades cause irritation and are not suitable for all skin types
Harry's does not work well for me. Their blades just aren't as good for my skin/facial hair.
Harry's uses cheap blades that goes bad after 1 shave. It also irritates the h311 out of my skin.
Blades lose effectiveness quickly
This is the only item I have ever personally returned to Costco.
Now that I learned Harry's blade is truly poor quality, I will make the switch over after using the rest of my stock.
Poor shaving performance leading to irritation
it was one of the worst shaves I've had more hairs where pulled out then cut and I got my first shaveing rash since I was 16.
Decline in quality of blades over time
The quality of the hinge in the blade has certainly changed. I haven’t noticed the blade quality itself having changed.
Increased risk of cuts and nicks
There is something about the lack of give in their blades or the range of motion with their pivot point that allows it to catch when rounding the skull.
Once I learned my lessons, I loved the smooth shave.
Poor performance for head shaving
yeah, I tried harry's and was unimpressed.
Increased nicks and cuts reported
You are gonna get some nicks starting out, but hang in there, its worth it in the long run.

General discussion about razor rules and subreddit guidelines
Posts that don't follow r/Costco subreddit rules may be subject to removal.
Discussion about changes in product quality with growth
I haven't had that issue. I wonder if Harry's is a victim of their own success?

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion on alternative shaving methods
Get a blade sampler to find right blade for you.
If you decide to go DE razor, I would suggest you go with an adjustable or something that has a plate system that allows you to adjust the blade gap.
Discussion on alternative shaving methods and cost-saving techniques
If you really want to save money shaving, switch to DE shaving.
Discussion on alternatives to Harry's blades
It seems like the quality of the blades just keeps getting worse the last couple of years, though.
If you want to change brands, you don't really lose by buying a handle with cartridges.
Recommendation for using double edged safety razors
Get yourself a double edged safety razor, best shave I’ve ever had.
Discussion on alternative shaving methods and products
You will also end up with better shaves
Maggards Razors or Stirling both sell Safety Razor (read: double edge) kits to get you started for some great shaves.
If you like the DE86 you will love the 326... But it's a bit more pricey.

Fewer blades are better than more.
The more blades the better the shaver especially with a gel glide.
every year or so, they seem to add MORE BLADES, to chase ever-shrinking advantages.
Please enjoy gaming the system.

Switched over 5 years ago and no regrets.
You'll never go back
Preference for safety razors
best disposal shave available?
After discovering the wonders of safety razor, I am finally at peace. I've been using them for almost 2 months now and the shave is just so clean.
Neither. Just a simple safety razor. The blades are so cheap I only use them 3 times before I toss them.
I wouldn't give 2 cents for any disposable razor (like other responders, I'm a safety razor user).
Comparisons with other razor brands
Gilette for me just has the all around best, consistent shave.

Start budgeting. Get a budget cap that you won’t exceed.

Wet shaving is as much about technique and feel as it is razors, blades, or soaps.
I switched to DE because cartridges were uncomfortable and gave me horrible ingrowns.
So don't despair, now that I've found it, the feeling is absolutely amazing.
Find a combo razor/blade that works decently for you and keep practicing over and over no matter what.

blades are dirt cheap.
use the cheaper Kirkland razor on a daily basis and use a more expensive Dorco for occasions closer shave or trimmer blade.
Users comparing Harry's with other brands like Gillette and Schick
Yeah. I bought my last pack pre-COVID. I shave probably 3x a week, but it varies as I kept a small beard for a little while though still shaved all the edges.

It is shaving. It isn't art.
All you should do is very lightly touch the blade to your face, and let the razor do the work.

You'd probably be better off getting a Merkur, Parker or Gillette if you actually want something that will last your whole lifetime.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Mixed opinions on Harry's effectiveness
Yes I’m seeing it’s a mixed bag. I think I will try them.
Discussion on switching from cartridge to safety razors
Why should I switch from Harry’s? [deleted]
Blades are cheaper, I get a better shave with a safety razor than I *ever* did with a cartridge razor (and I used Harry’s for a couple years before switching), the reasons are plenty.
DE shaving is literally the best shave I’ve ever had. I bought the maggard starter kid and I’m so happy.
Shaving with a safety razor is more affordable, more environmentally friendly, better for your skin, provides a higher quality, closer shave, super cool, and far more enjoyable.
