The Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 45-150mm F4.0-5.6 is a versatile telephoto lens designed for Micro Four Thirds cameras. It offers excellent optical performance with features like image stabilization, making it suitable for both photography and videography. Consumers have expressed strong positive sentiments about the lens, highlighting its "excellent image quality" and "compact and lightweight" design, which allow for easy portability. Many users appreciate its performance in low light conditions, noting that it is "very sharp" and ideal for creating beautiful bokeh. However, some feedback indicates limitations in versatility for certain photography scenarios, as well as confusion with the user interface. Overall, the Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 45-150mm lens is recommended for its category, particularly for those seeking a reliable and high-quality lens for everyday use, especially for beginners and enthusiasts who value portability and image quality.

I honestly can’t recommend this camera enough. It has been a beast and learning photography on it is really fun.

Positive Feedback

It's a fine lens, but you will need to choose either the camera IBIS or the lens OIS.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Excellent image quality
I honestly can’t recommend this camera enough. It has been a beast and learning photography on it is really fun.
Good fit and solid build
As it seems 100-200 eur difference in body prices may be nothing compared to lens prices.
Compact and lightweight lens
The 42.5 is beautiful. And tiny.
It's just so convenient to take it with you whenever you go somewhere.
Good for low light photography
Very sharp, sharper than the 15, good for low light, and can get good bokeh.
better glass would definitely contribute more towards great image quality than the difference in sensor resolution.
Sharp image quality
I was always very happy with its performance.
Versatile focal length for various situations
It’s probably my favorite lens on the system, so incredibly compact for the images you get.
Fine lens for specific uses
I'm a beginner and have purchased an Olympus OM-D E 5Mark II body (used, of course).
There's nothing wrong with the 45-150mm, its just the type of lens that is only good for certain things.
Great range and good aperture for everyday use
the best I've seen.
Excellent sharpness and color rendering
The Leica branded lenses for Lumix are worth the money. Most are tack sharp, have great colors, contrast, build quality and performance.
Yes, the 25mm f1.4 has really excellent colors, especially on the GH6 and G9II.
It's so sharp, with good range, and I love what it renders.
Better color and micro-contrast are what I notice most about the Leica branded lenses.
Excellent for low light photography
I'm looking to buy my first camera and my priority is photography.
In the end it doesn't really matter with which camera a picture is taken.
Great build quality and compact design
The one other advantage is the size.
Good for beginners
G85 is cheap and a good beginner's camera plus has a good set of lenses.
For someone just starting in photography, a G85 is a very good camera.
Compact and lightweight system
I love the size and portability. My camera bag is downright tiny compared to before.
m43 has smaller glass, and thus, better quality lenses are more affordable.
Smooth footage from handheld shooting
Looks super smooth.
Great camera processing engine
Its much more camera than phone in this respect.
Good integration of Panasonic camera features
Well they did give it the lumix branding, which is their camera line.
High sensor resolution
Ouch. So around a $400 premium for the camera.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Cannot use lens OIS and camera IBIS together
It's a fine lens, but you will need to choose either the camera IBIS or the lens OIS.
Limited versatility for certain photography situations
Of course a donkey can run, doesn't mean it can compete with a thoroughbred horse.
Not the best option compared to other lenses
I think a lot of people buy the FS14140 thinking they are buying the version FSA14140.
User interface and menu can be confusing
The menu wasnt really user friendly plus they would overheat and shutdown frequently.
Confusion about user interface
A bad ui could be a deal breaker.

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Advice on using various L mount lenses and their benefits
I’ve bought 2 TTArtisan lenses that I’m really happy with.
Discussion on vintage lenses compatibility and performance
Depends on your use case. Street? Wildlife? Portraits? Product? Etc
Discussion about lens comparisons for Panasonic cameras
how would you compare the 12-35 to the 10-25 and 12-60?
3D pop is a bit different, people tend to see it when the subject is very sharp and seems cut and pasted on a blurred background.
Preference for Sigma and Leica lenses over others
Panasonic Leica 10-25mm f1.7 is a beautiful piece of glass.
the sigma 24-70 f2.8 art is the premier choice for the budget (and weight) conscious lumix buyer.
Sigma L series primes are the coolest lenses on earth.
Feedback on autofocus improvements in video
If you need a new video camera now, the G9II is a great option.
Discussion on Leica vs. Olympus lens performance
Leica's lenses have that magic (and clout) that drives up their cost.
Consideration of lens suitability for vlogging
I think the 20mm side of the kit lens is actually very good for vlogging.
Comparison of L-Mount and Micro 4/3rds system
Panasonic’s full-frame range was planned from the outset to be a system for people who want very high quality without compromise in either size or cost.
Discussion on lens sizes and weight
Canon lenses are huge and expensive, what are you talking about?
Technological advancements in camera image quality
Footage looks beautiful! We live in glorious times (technologically speaking).
Curiosity about the popularity surge of the device
What I want to know is why is this thing suddenly so popular right now.

Discussion on alternative lenses for Canon EOS M50
What do you think about these lenses?
maybe also look at the 11-22mm for a wide zoom.
They're both good lenses for the money.
The Ef-m 11-22mm is a fantastic lens.
Discussion on using LUMIX cameras for black and white photography
Panasonic Lumix TZ25 was my Dad's old camera now my pocket B&W shooter.
LUMIX cameras are great for black and white, glad you are using it :)
Discussion on preferred lenses for LUMIX cameras
Would like to get more lenses for it at some point so if anyone has an good lens suggestions that would be amazing.
Discussion on using different adapters for vintage lenses
i am in love with the bokeh and the look overall.
Old 35mm format lenses work great.
Discussion on using vintage lenses with Micro Four Thirds
I tend to prefer entry level Panasonic bodies over Olympus.
They are both Micro Four Third bodies, so the adapter will be the same.
is live view good? With a histogram or exposure indicator?
I'm on eBay, looking for the cheapest deals (less than $200 with shipping etc) and I see these two cameras as viable choices.
Discussion on editing V-Log footage
If I use the official Panasonic Varicam to 709 LUT than it turns out pretty ugly green.
Discussion on LUTs for log footage
the lut should Transfer the bt2020 log footage to bt707 while retaining the flexibility in the dynamic range from the log footage.

Discussion on alternative lenses for Olympus cameras
the Olympus IBIS is very good (for this vintage), so I would use that over the lens.
Discussion on the cost of lenses
Lens are so expensive too.
>Having trouble figuring out what is a good adapter for this camera. L is the 2nd most populous mir
Why are Lumix lenses so expensive and heavy compared to other leading brands?
The only complaint I have is the price of some of the LUMIX 2.8 zooms are pricey compared to sigma.
Discussion on alternative lenses for mirrorless cameras
the Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 (24-80 equivalent) is considered the best standard zoom available for M43.
the z30 is such a good value because Nikon forgot to neuter the parts of it that more advanced users are interested in.
Advice on using various adapters for lenses
If so, then it's way out of my budget as a used G85 + lens will cost almost USD 900.
Image stabilization will work.
Discussion on budget constraints for lenses
Perfect! Yeah, both the PL 12-60 and Olympus 12-40 push me out of the $700 budget unfortunately.
I can say that Fuji is probably the cheapest option when you add up lenses and the knickknack.
Discussion on lens compatibility with different mounts
But the walking handheld footages are absolutely useless and cannot be used at all.
Assuming the lens you use on the gh5 is M43 no it wont work on L mount (s5iix)
3rd party lenses have IBIS issues.
Feedback on alternative lenses for L mount
It is small, light, compact, versatile.
Advice on buying used cameras and lenses
Excellent advice. And buy used, because as you say, cameras even 10 years old are far more than what we even want out of them.
Great advice, this man photographs :)
Discussion on using adapters for Nikon lenses on Lumix
How to Use Nikon Lenses on a Lumix Camera? I'm really interested in getting the Lumix S1H but my mom
It would be such a waste of money to buy a non-Nikon camera and a bunch of lenses when I already have plenty!
One tip, don’t skimp out on the adapter. You want a rock solid connection, especially as you’ll be solely manually focusing.
Discussion on lens adaptability and compatibility
This is why I advise shooters who are just starting out to buy Canon EF mount glass and adapt it to their mirrorless cameras.
Do i lose any features (example lens image stabilization or focus) of my ef lenses when put on sony with the adapter?

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on phone camera features vs. specs
Super high resolutions and big sensors and whatnot are stupid on a mid-range phone.
