What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Quality and autofocus performance
I’m very pleased by quality and autofocus.
Positive experience with Tamron lenses
they are so wonderful.
Affordable alternative to Sony lenses
Tamron lenses are significantly cheaper here than Sony’s.
For the price, it's absolutely amazing what Tamron, Sigma and Samyang can offer.
Tamron makes fine lenses that are often more affordable than Sony's GM line.
Sony’s new A7 III is a $2,000 full-frame mirrorless camera that should terrify Canon and Nikon.
Good overall lens quality and performance
Complete BS I mean, look at the Tamron 35-150. Considered one of the best lenses in the emount syst
It’s the lens I grab—en lieu of my G Masters—unless it’s just going to be too heavy for the day.
I personally love how Canon, who still has the best colors, has willfully avoided putting 4K video W
Compatibility with Canon R6ii
I have this lens and it works faultlessly on my R6ii.
I use this same lens on my R6ii with no issues whatsoever.
Good performance in various conditions
I am amazed at the results.
Tamron lenses provide good overall quality
I'd rather go used Nikkor than new Tamron, though.
If your first one is sharp, great. If not, return it.
Cheaper alternative to brand lenses
I suspect for those that don't need every bit of performance, the roughly $1,000 in savings is more valuable than the performance gain.
Tamron was sharper across the frame.
An actual change in material would mess with the optics if nothing else is changed.
Good autofocus performance with newer lenses
it works without any issues at all.
its probably better with the newer lenses as they've got software updates available.
Lightweight and compact for travel photography
I absolutely adore for winter travel photography.
Would it make sense to save up for the a7iii.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Disappointment over crop sensor limitation
Disappointing that it's only crop sensor but excited to see progress overall.
Inferior quality compared to high-end Sony lenses
if you don't have many lenses and want to do video or use electronic viewfinders, it looks like an absolute beast.
Issues with autofocus and error messages
autofocus hunts and when you release the shutter the r6 gives an error message and the r8 locks up completely
The 150-600mm hunts a lot at times, very frustrating.
Need for firmware updates for compatibility
I had a Tamron 15-30 2.8 (1st gen) that wouldn't work on Canon mirrorless without a firmware update.
I had issues with the lens as it wasn't adjusting to the mirrorless camera.
Tamron lenses perceived as lower quality
Something telling about the quality of tamron lenses if you ask me.
Third-party lenses can be less sharp
Specific lenses can be great from 3rd party manufacturers like Tamron or sigma, but it depends on what you value as important.
Disappointment over lack of Canon RF lenses
Bummer that Tamron won't be making canon RF lenses, at least for now.
That's disappointing.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Discussion about lens capabilities and post-processing techniques
you don't need 1k+ lenses always.
If i did a photo like yours i'd also be pleased!
DOF is what makes this image stand out imo.
The bokeh is good. I love the soft background.
Discussion on adapting older Tamron lenses
I’m seriously thinking about upgrading to the R7 but can’t afford to upgrade lenses too so I want to make sure they’d work fine when adapted.
Did you try updating the firmware to see if it helped?
This is most likely the reason some are reporting no issue when other have had no luck.
General commentary on lens adapter capabilities
Using the Canon ef-rf lens adapter, will allow you to use any lens from the EF/EF-S ecosystem on Canon RF mount cameras.
Use of EF lenses on RF mounts with adapters
All my L glass have been used EF off Craigslist or mpb.com.
The EF lenses on RF mounts with the adapter work great.
Discussion on using vintage lenses with modern cameras
This Tamron Adaptall-2 28mm is a lovely bit of kit, and using it on one of Canon's highest end APSCs is a delight.
Some of my best and favourite work has come from vintage glass.
I'd be sleeping in the shed if I bought 30 vintage lenses.
Love vintage lenses on my mirrorless, but I imagine them being hard to use without electronic focusing aids.

Anticipation for future Tamron lenses
Wish we had the eos m lenses for rf mount to begin with.
Discussion about choosing a camera for specific photography needs
I do want sharp and good quality images but I have not delved into so much artistic value, just want to capture the moment and keep some memories.
For Wildlife the D7500 has the best Auto Focus you can get of the 3 options.
Z50 is more versatile than the D7500.
For shooting birds and wildlife, D7500 will certainly be a slightly better camera than the Z50.
Discussion on lens compatibility with Canon EOS R
some work some don't

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about lens comparison without specific product feedback
Wondering if anyone has any experience with Sigma Lenses and/or Tamron lenses and willing to share their experiences.
Almost everything from the A/S/C era onwards is golden though, with the Art line consistently beating out first party premium lenses across the board.
I use a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary for birding all the time, and I am very happy with it.
The sigma art range are THE portrait lenses imo.
Discussion about lens comparisons and preferences
Nice lighting too
very sharp.
Love it !
Debate on lens quality perceptions
lol… that’s great.. and yeah I agree some lenses are duds some really good.
Yes they do, I’ve had one and slapped it on an old base to help sell on Swappa with a warning it was just a get started lens.
Discussion on lens partnerships and quality
Nikon is literally partnering with Tamron for some Z mount lenses.
Discussion on Canon's control over RF lens communication
Tamron makes some amazing lenses. The F2.8 15-30, 24-70, 70-200 and F2.8-F4 17-35, 35-150 lenses are some of the best on the market.
It sucks as each manufacturer have a different approach to making lenses.
it's kinda ironic that with Canon apparently stopping third party manufacturers from making RF compatible lenses, I'm not being driven to buy RF native glass but instead look at second hand EF glass.
