What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Reliable performance and easy maintenance
They are reliable no matter what, easy to maintenance, and have lots of parts availability.
Nothing functionally wrong with it, I just prefer spools more than poppets and thus looking to either sell or trade.
The marker shoots very much like an LV1.6, I don't entirely know how the LV1.5/LVR previously fired but I would imagine it was very similar and that there isn't much difference at all.
OP covered the labor/testing, in exchange for using my marker as a test platform for the conversion.
Planet Eclipse is a highly regarded brand in paintball markers
It was time to step up my game and get something better.
Planet Eclipse is the gold standard by which every other company is compared when it comes to markers.
Planet Eclipses are the Porsches of paintball guns
Good entry-level marker with essential features
What do you all think about the Etha 3? What do you think about the Etha 3?
Good marker. Has almost everything you'd want at entry level.
Reliable and well-maintained performance
Amazing marker with unbeatable value. Only thing I could compare it to is a used 170r.
Sufficient for competition at any level
There’s needs and wants. A etha 3 is all you would ever truly need to compete at any level.
Best intro marker for longevity with quality of life features
It's the best intro marker for longevity with the most QOL features already present.
Best bang for your buck
Probably the best bang for your buck.
Go-to marker for recreational play
If I'm playing any type of rec ball, it's my go to marker.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Performance of markers is similar across many brands
Any marker nowadays shoots pretty much the same.
Etha 3 is considered overpriced
The Etha 3 is massively overpriced new.
Minimal performance difference compared to other markers
Is it nicer? Yes, absolutely. Is it going to matter at all in terms of how you play? No, not at all.
Concerns about proprietary rechargeable batteries
The high end PE markers use AAs and 3v electronics.
Personally I rather have a standard battery 9v, or AA than some proprietary rechargeable battery that in 10 years will be very hard to find.
Issues with previous attempts to use Li-Ion batteries
It is considered a very desirable upgrade to convert an angel to a 9v.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on differences between Planet Eclipse marker lines
Planet Eclipse differences? I've recently gotten back into the sport.
Thanks for the run down. Poppits and spools? What's the difference functionally, I've heard those terms often?
Discussion about the historical context of Planet Eclipse markers
Old School Planet Eclipse Markers -- Am I Going Crazy?
They were not going by PE, just Eclipse at the time.
Like others have said, they were just "Eclipse" back then.
There was, to the very best of my knowledge, never an Eclipse Blazer.
Discussion on FRN body quality perceptions
Why do people associate the FRN body with low quality? It's lower in cost, but that doesn't necessarily make it worse.

Trade value discussions for Planet Eclipse markers
Looking to trade this for a higher end PE Marker (CS3, GEO R5, LV2, 180R) or older models + maybe like a tank, hopper, & mask or something
This sim setup is worth around the value of the mid range of what he is asking for in trade, given that it works as listed
Seems like a pretty good trade for an LV 2/180r or 170r+tank+loader

Discussion about potential conversions between models
Wow, this is some seriously cool engineering.
Discussion about the value of used markers vs. new
If you don't want to spend the money don't, I guarantee you I'd be on equal ground with someone with an Etha 3 that's at the same skill level as me.
Discussion about alternatives to Etha 3
Which planet eclipse gun? In the past I’ve used the etha for speedball because it was in my budget.
The Etha 2 is the go-to choice if you just want a general purpose speedball gun.
Thanks for everyone’s input after doing some research my two options are the lv1.6 or the geo4
160r or 170r both are gonna shoot the same as one another and they'll shoot similar enough to the rest of the PE catalog minus the geo 4.
User experiences after returning to paintball
Have an Ego 11. Those still decent? How much have the markers changed since then?
Confusion about marker lineup
it seems like there should be more even progression as you increase from $400 up to $1500 in regard to features.
Confusion over Planet Eclipse marker lineup
I'm a big fan of PE I wanted to know the difference between Planet Eclipse Markers, is there like a Timeline, now I'm so confused between Geos, LVR, Gteck, etc.
Thanks, this is really useful! They should have something like this in their website, it's so confusing, but now I can start looking for my new marker.
Eclipse basically has two lines of guns and has moved from a yearly release cycle (Ego08/09/10) to a periodic update.
Discussion about marker tiers
Planet Eclipse Marker Tiers? Hi there, I'm looking to purchase a planet eclipse marker, but I am unsure of the tiers of quality around them.
Their current "low-end" is the Etha2; "mid-end" is the Gtek and Gtek 160R; "high-end" is the LV1/1.1/LVR and CS1/1.5/CSR.
ANS, Amazon, and TMG have LV1.1s for under a grand.
They are totally different markers from the start. The Etek has its lineage from the Ego, which predates the Geo entirely.

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion about different marker families
Tell me about each line, please.
The LV is the latest version of the Ego and is so much fun to shoot.
User experience with Etek 5 and comparison with LV1
Most parts are the same but the LV1 will have more firing modes that the etek 5 lack.
Discussion about different Planet Eclipse marker families
Geos and Egos are the premier lines. (Spool valve and poppet valve)
The Ego line peaked at the Ego 11, and then switched to a lever valve, rebranding as the LV series.
Discussion on marker reliability across brands
Im looking into upgrading from a rental tippmann 98 to my own marker.
It's a much more reliable marker and the performance is very similar.
