Snoop's Take

The Tippmann Stormer Elite .68 Caliber Dual Fed Paintball Marker is a versatile paintball gun that allows players to switch between hopper-fed and magfed configurations for a customizable gameplay experience. Designed for reliability and performance, this semi-automatic marker features a high-impact composite body and a modular design, making it suitable for both beginner and seasoned players alike. Consumer sentiment around the Tippmann Stormer Elite highlights its sturdy construction and reliability, with many users stating that it is a great entry-level option. Comments such as "the stormer is a good starting place and it’ll always be there for u if u wanna upgrade" reflect its appeal to beginners, while other users appreciate its versatility by stating, "especially as a new player I would recommend trying out Magfed and Hopperfed so that you know what fits you best." However, some players note that it may not perform as well as higher-end models, indicating that upgrades might be necessary for serious competitors. Overall, the Tippmann Stormer Elite is recommended for entry-level players looking for a flexible and reliable paintball marker. While it has some limitations compared to more advanced models, its ease of use and adaptability make it a worthwhile choice for those starting in the sport.

Positive Feedback

I'm honestly a little annoyed with how decent these look with a normal sized barrel....

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
High build quality and performance
Shot quality, reliability, better parts, lighter.
Reliable and sturdy for rentals
they are sturdy and very very reliable as a rental marker.
Cheap, loud, and fun
Cheap, loud and fun.
Good for scenario games
Are there better hoppers that 1 can take over the other?
That's to be determined though :P
Reliable for beginners
I also want to know (importantly) if it will shoot well and is reliable?
I liked it shoots well and is reliable for beginners
the stormer is a good starting place and it’ll always be there for u if u wanna upgrade
Good for entry-level players
especially as a new player I would recommend trying out Magfed and Hopperfed so that you know what fits you best and with the Stormer Elite you can do that.
Versatile with mag-fed and hopper-fed options
It's not cheap but it's cheaper than some much higher-price guns, and I like that it can support both mag-fed and also the gravity loader.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Annoying aesthetics with a normal sized barrel
I'm honestly a little annoyed with how decent these look with a normal sized barrel....
Difficult to upgrade effectively
Don't upgrade a Tippmann.
Not recommended for high performance
Tippmanns aren't great guns but they fill a niche that no one else does and they offer an extremely low bar for entry into this hobby, and they do it while functioning.
Keep an eye out for a used phenom or crossover if you want to stay in the tippmann family and you'll be much happier.
Perceived as cheap and not high quality
They're air hogs and the cyclones make them eat up even more air, plus they make you a bigger target.
Heavy and less effective for speedball
The gog enemy is much smaller and lighter, thusly a lot easier to keep tighter to bunkers with.
It is lighter quieter more compact and handles paint better than either tippmann.
Limited performance without modifications
Performance will be on par with older field rentals and outclassed by newer rental models.
Players tend to switch to better options
Of the 3 people I know who bought a Tippmann stormer, all of them switched to a EMF.
Cost can be high for casual players
If the stormer “is not cheap”, paintball may not be the sport for you.
Considered inferior to E-mek for starters
Anyone who does not get an E-mek as their starter is making a huge mistake.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Preference for recreational and scenario play over competitive
Get the Etha 3M. To put it in old-school terms, it feels like shooting a nice AutoMag with zero need for tinkering or troubleshooting.
What makes really expensive markers like Dye better than the cheaper Tippmann markers?
Discussion on aftermarket upgrades
people have very mixed opinions on if it does anything good for your marker
No, run it stock. The only thing you should do to a Tippmann is polish the internals and use higher end o-rings.
Upgrading and paintball is purely a money grab.
Preference for lighter guns in speedball
The enmey is sweet and smooth, and tippmanns are kicky, cast aluminium, noise machines.
Debate about flatline barrels affecting accuracy and range
The flatline is about range, not accuracy.
Actually flatline barrels do work
They do create a flatter arc of the ball, they do not increase accuracy though.
Ease of repair and maintenance
it’s someone that is quick and easy to fix yourself
Comment on video editing quality
How Tippmann Paintball Markers are Made
Awesome video, 60 fps was a bonus. At the end though, that kid drops his mag, then leaves it, all while carrying pods.

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Comments about alternative uses such as pepper ball rounds
Any paintball marker with pepper ball rounds 🤷
Discussion about using older Tippmann models
Part of me would rather use the A5 cause I’m cheap and I own it already which means I’d only be paying for field admission and paint balls.
A5 will work fine, you might want to do a breakdown and check the orings though.
Are the o rings something that I can find easily at an auto parts store to replace or are they more specific to the marker?
some hardware stores should have them. But it's best to check now and prep yourself to know whether or not you need to rent this weekend than go out on the field and be flustered by your marker not working.

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Desire for low-maintenance paintball marker
I'd say get the 3m first since it's a great marker and will a great shooter for you.
I'd look into getting the "fun" A5 as a backup
For sure the Etha 3m, however, if you want to save more money, you could just get an EMEK which is a
Comparison to other paintball markers
Nice, thanks. That's my general feeling, just wanted to see if I was off-base with an older A5.
Throw an Apex barrel (gives backspin) on the 3M, add the EMC kit (tacticool) and you have a much better 2024 version of what the kid version of you wanted your A-5 to be
A better gun don't make you a better player, but a really bad gun can limit you as a player.
Is there any real advantage to putting these mods into a stormer elite then keeping with my 98 custom.
Comparison to Tippmann 98 family
As far as rental guns go, these are the best of the 98 family of guns.
Comparison to other low-cost markers
a Spyder Xtra and, to a lesser extent due to meh reliability and long trigger pull, an Azodin Kaos 2.
Discussion on maintenance ease
enmey takes the hoppers you would use on any regular speedball gun and requires low maintenance
Discussion about alternatives to Tippmann models
If you're looking at semi auto (really, when do you get to go full auto?) check out the BT TM7.
Discussion about budget alternatives like EMEK
I meant "not cheap" in the sense of avoiding someone yelling at me for calling something that costs around 300$ (Canadian) "cheap"
I'd suggest buying a used EMEK. Or a Tippmann 98 custom instead if your budget doesn't work with the EMEK.
Discussion on paintball storage and quality
High end paint thats not properly stored will also shoot like crap
What I go about storing it and it container preferably airtight or would I want to put it in like a closet or underneath a cabinet
Curiosity about paintball compatibility
Ahhhhh I understand now so would valken paintballs work for the stormer sorry to repeat the question I'm just curious is all and the thing is is I already bought the marker due to the fact that I'm going paintballing this weekend and would like a starter then later on I can pick up a better one you know

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on brand's history and product evolution
For everyone that is saying they started in real guns. [Sadly that’s wrong. They started making sewing machines] then made half scale military firearms like gatlin guns.
Tributes to Dennis Tippmann Sr.
A legend of the sport, and inventor, is no more.
Much respect for that man!
his legend will live on for as long as there are still Tippman 98s and a5s on the field...so forever.
Durability likened to the AK of paintball
Fair point, but I've never heard of anyone describing them as the AK of paintball for that reason, they always say it's just because they're durable.
Exploration of customization challenges
Had to grind down the inside of the shroud to make it work but it fits now.
