Snoop's Take

The Tippmann Stormer Tactical .68 Caliber Paintball Marker is a customizable and durable paintball gun designed for players of all skill levels. Its modular milsim tactical design and reliable in-line bolt system ensure consistent performance, making it a versatile choice for both beginners and advanced players. Consumer sentiment around the Tippmann Stormer highlights its reliability and ease of maintenance, with many users stating, "they are sturdy and very very reliable as a rental marker." Players appreciate its customizable features and the simplicity of its internal mechanism, which allows for easy repairs. However, some feedback suggests that while it serves as a good entry-level option, it may not meet the expectations of those seeking high-end performance. Overall, the Tippmann Stormer Tactical is recommended for beginners and casual players looking for a reliable and customizable paintball marker, but those seeking advanced features may want to explore higher-end alternatives.

Positive Feedback

I'm honestly a little annoyed with how decent these look with a normal sized barrel.

What it does well!

Key strengths users can’t stop talking about.
Reliable and sturdy rental marker
they are sturdy and very very reliable as a rental marker.
Easier to work on than standard models
They really are easier to work on and are more reliable.
Customizable with tactical accessories
If you own a Tippmann Sierra/Bravo One and want to go magfed -> 3D printable marker conversion kit.
I'm a tippmann guy but I don't even recommend the a5 or 98 these days.
But first starter marker would it be good the thing is is I already bought it what are the pros and cons if you know
Simple internal mechanism ensures reliability
the internal mechanism is dead simple and I had no issues taking one apart, learning how it worked and being able to reassemble it without google after about 30 minutes.
Durable and easy to maintain
Tippmanns aren't great guns but they fill a niche that no one else does and they offer an extremely low bar for entry into this hobby, and they do it while functioning.
Good starting place for beginners
I like the look of the Tippmann Stormer Elite because not only do I think it looks cool but also it won’t break the bank.
I liked it shoots well and is reliable for beginners.
the stormer is a good starting place and it’ll always be there for u if u wanna upgrade so put a lil work into it.
Easy to fix if something goes wrong
it’s someone that is quick and easy to fix yourself
Good entry-level option for new players
especially as a new player I would recommend trying out Magfed and Hopperfed so that you know what fits you best and with the Stormer Elite you can do that.
Rebuild kits and o-rings are accessible
Here's the rebuild kit. I got my 98 running with its version of this.
some hardware stores should have them. But it's best to check now and prep yourself to know whether or not you need to rent this weekend than go out on the field and be flustered by your marker not working.

Where it needs some work!

Areas to watch—feedback on possible improvements.
Aesthetics may not appeal to all
I'm honestly a little annoyed with how decent these look with a normal sized barrel.
Some markers are seen as cheap and unreliable
They are not the AK's of paintball, they are made with cheap parts and poor tolerances, yeah, they don't break like most sub $200 markers, but they are no AK's compared to most mid-high end markers.
Flatline barrel does not improve accuracy
The flatline is about range, not accuracy.
They do create a flatter arc of the ball, they do not increase accuracy though.
Not capable of shooting First Strike rounds without modifications
The Stormer isn't capable of that without tools, modifications, and know how.
Some users quickly switch to better options
it's a great gun to find out if you like Magfed, but if you do you won't keep the gun for long.
Cost of paintballs can add up quickly
If the stormer “is not cheap”, paintball may not be the sport for you.
Similar internals to older models
The stormer internals are almost identical to the 98 customs.
Not the best starter compared to newer models
In this day and age. Anyone who does not get an E-mek as their starter is making a huge mistake.

Core Power Plays

The specs and strengths that make it shine.
Discussion on Tippmann's history with firearms
Tippman makes real guns now and they're actually very well built.
They actually got there start making replicas of military weapons.
They started making sewing machines then made half scale military firearms like gatlin guns.
Discussion on rental guns in the Tippmann family
Sadly, this top cocking piece does not reciprocate when it shoots.
Tribute to the founder of Tippmann
A legend of the sport, and inventor, is no more.
Much respect for that man!
his legend will live on for as long as there are still Tippman 98s and a5s on the field
Discussion on the durability of Tippmann markers
Fair point, but I've never heard of anyone describing them as the AK of paintball for that reason, they always say it's just because they're durable.
Mechanical similarities to closed bolt firearms
Assuming the maker emulated the marker he started from and replaced certain plastic parts with metal instead, you're halfway to a closed bolt gun just from there.
Discussion on rear sight functionality
This is my first marker and I just took it apart, and this fell out.
It’s the rear sight. You can leave it out if you want.
Agree 1000% this part fell out day 2 of having mine in the woods.
Rear sight. Not really necessary for function of the marker

Hidden Hero Hacks

Unexpected tricks and side‑door uses you’ll love.
Insights on play styles and preferences
Still a light gun will work perfectly for woods ball.
The GoG Enemy is hands down better.
The eNMEy, with it's vertical feed, can be easily fired around both left and right-handed corners.
Discussion on mag fed paintball options
it is a really reliable marker for magfed

Buyer’s Cheat Sheet

What to check before you click ‘Add to Cart.’
Interest in pepper ball rounds
Any paintball marker with pepper ball rounds 🤷
What gun do you recommend?
Comparison of Tippmann to other brands like Spyder
a Spyder Xtra and, to a lesser extent due to meh reliability and long trigger pull, an Azodin Kaos 2.
Discussion on why expensive markers are better
What makes really expensive markers like Dye better than the cheaper Tippmann markers? I'm fairly new to Paintball and I've only ever used a Tippmann.
A really bad gun can limit you as a player.
This difference is why they are, in my humble opinion, better and also more expensive, sorta.
Shot quality, reliability, better parts, lighter.
Discussion on the advantages of the GoG Enemy over Tippmann models
Gog Enmy vs tippmann 98 custom vs tippmann a5 (15?) I made a thread a while ago about asking what kind of stuff i should buy as i want to get into paintballing as another hobby/sport.
The enemy will be lighter, and easier to clean/care for, and a lot more suited for any play than the tippmanns.
The enemy will be more effective in more situations than the tippmanns.
He means that Tippmanns are heavy and mainly used for woods ball. While the enemy is smaller and lighter making it more usable for other types of play such as speedball.
Discussion about comparing Tippmann to other brands
I meant "not cheap" in the sense of avoiding someone yelling at me for calling something that costs around 300$ (Canadian) "cheap" - force of habit from other social media sites or even other subs where there are people that'd get mad at that.
Players discussing the value of upgrading from A5
I'd stick with the A5, unless you end up like me and just like having different options.
if your a5 is still running fine itll work out on the field but the emek is much more than a rental lol im actually dreading my field breakin them out for the rental fleet 🥲 .. if your a5 is working fine bring it and maybe swap a round with a friend to use an emek lol
The a5 will still work and you obviously already have it. If you do upgrade and emek is a great upgrade though in the long run.
Discussion on paint types and storage
It just the lower paint can be really inconsistent.
What I go about storing it and it container preferably airtight or would I want to put it in like a closet or underneath a cabinet.
Curiosity about paintball compatibility
Ahhhhh I understand now so would valken paintballs work for the stormer sorry to repeat the question I'm just curious is all and the thing is is I already bought the marker due to the fact that I'm going paintballing this weekend and would like a starter then later on I can pick up a better one you know

Cautionary Callouts

Know the pitfalls before they catch you off guard.
Discussion on returning to paintball after a long break
I'd say get the 3m first since it's a great marker and will a great shooter for you.
Get the Etha 3M. To put it in old-school terms, it feels like shooting a nice AutoMag with zero need for tinkering or troubleshooting.
For sure the Etha 3m, however, if you want to save more money, you could just get an EMEK which is a
The 3M is super easy on paint, is easier to maintain than the A5 and requires less maintenance in general, feels better in most people's hands, doesn't present a giant target every time you shoot out of the right side of your prop, is quieter, and the trigger is far better.
Debate on the effectiveness of flatline barrels
Actually flatline barrels do work
Comment on video content
How Tippmann Paintball Markers are Made
Awesome video, 60 fps was a bonus. At the end though, that kid drops his mag, then leaves it, all while carrying pods. That bothered me more than it should have haha.
